I found this (ref: http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/index.php/topic,8826.0.html) old review while pointlessly googling for more information on EssenceRO - which I was doing because I can't find the answers from players in game, the forums were down when I checked (but I found them pretty useless last I used them), and I don't like to bother GMs with questions that should be about available information anyway. Interestingly, the poster of this review has the same thoughts as I do on this server, despite the post being from a while ago, which may be an indication as to how much things are going to change here over time. I agree with everything they've said (except I hardly get any lag now), and would like to take this opportunity to vent.

I'm a casual RO player, I don't like to "seriously" PVP and I've never had enough friends playing who could MVP. I usually just collect pretty things and spend my time chatting instead of leveling. To my knowledge, there isn't a server out there for me. I invested much time into eRO and as I finally have easy access to level 170 (max) whenever I can be bothered to do it, it's really hitting me that I won't want to play anymore once I do. My main is a Sorcerer, you see. On eRO, I cannot use my Sorcerer skills (not to mention they are not all implemented, but how I would be able to get summons with my amount of skill points is beyond me anyway) on MVP/PVP maps. So what's the point? All a Professor can do is cast bolts, and I have no intention of playing with a soul link on. I readied my Professor a couple years ago, waiting and waiting for Sorcerer to be released excitedly, and when it finally was.. well, I really expected the skills to eventually be usable anywhere. Why should Rangers and Gunslingers be able to fight things usefully anywhere, yet I can't? Etc. Do I think the skills are imbalanced? No more than things are already. I helped MVP only a few times, you know what I did? I casted dispel repeatedly. That's it.

My other two highest characters are Genetic & Rune Knight... The RK I've spent the most money on trying to make it good (I even bought a 95mill sword THAT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AS A DROP IN GAME BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT IT WAS "TOO EASY TO GET" so now those who have it can make loads, and I get screwed), and still, even with runes on, it either dies too fast or doesn't do enough damage to be any good (depending on how I stat). Considering I have one of the best swords in the game, and still feel suck, do I think that sword should still be easily attainable? Why yes, I do. The only answers about 3rd class skills I've gotten out of fellow players were accompanied by trolling harassment, which I have disregarded. I'm told that we don't have more working 3rd class skills (my Genetic is missing Homunculus S & cooking, for example) because they all have to be recoded to work on our server, because for some reason unknown to me they still don't want to switch to the Renewal client. I will look into this more, but I must say, things have been like this for a very long time. Since I stopped playing, oh, over a year ago? (I stop for months & come back) They haven't hired someone new to code in the skills or done anything to work around the imbalanced mess that exists today.

Yes, eRO is supposed to be all about balance, but the classes that I most see actually DOING something in game, are Gunslinger, Ranger, and Shura. These classes are, of course, ones that can easily do as they please regardless of 3rd class skill implementation and restrictions. Actually, I have a champ working towards Shura and I must say, I didn't know you could repeatedly spam your combo skills without waiting for the start one to auto-activate again. I don't know if that's special on our server or not, but it sure does make my Champ easy to level. I feel like such a tool for not knowing that sooner.

There ARE good people on eRO, I've seen many speaking out against the fools quite a lot, but I don't feel that I fit in here anyway. I feel that the word of those fools is stronger and they are the ones putting their say into server decisions. It doesn't feel very open or comfortable, for whatever reason. I haven't really TRIED to put my opinions out yet (I have to be in a healthy mind frame to accept all the trolling), actually, I wanted to do so today, but the forums were down when I went to do so (and I fear no one like me reads them much!). I'd like to know if I'm really in the minority or not as far as the direction I want the server to go in, before I decide to keep pumping efforts into it. (I'm pretty sure though that the GMs disagree with what I want out of the game, so I'm probably SOL) To me, it feels like a very broken server right now, I can't play as I want to, I might as well play without 3rd classes. Auto trade means most of the game is shops, and people undercut too steeply, so I feel that much of the "worth" I hold really has none.

I hope if anyone actually reads this, they realize I'm not just hating on the server, these are the things that are important to ME, and they are important to others I know who play here as well. I don't want to hold paranoia that someone is going to yell at me for not understanding why things are the way they are, etc. I only know what I know through word of mouth. People seem to attack the "Why can't we use [all] our skills?" question like it's asked every 10 minutes... If it is, perhaps it should be considered a problem to be tackled by now. I don't know how much money eRO gets, but I'm sure they'd get more if new players didn't have to find out AFTER joining that their classes would be limited. Oh, I also just remembered that there's basically no way to obtain event tokens, so I'm not even sure why they exist. I've never seen an event, nor have my friends who played here longer. That's probably how all RO events work, though. I just hate seeing an item that will forever be unobtainable. K, abrupt ending go.

I split your review into a new topic with reference to the topic you are trying to reply to (http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/index.php/topic,8826.0.html).  Replying to a 2 years old topic that is already 5 pages long with your own review of the server isn't going to get much interest in your post.  Also because many things could change over 2 years, this is better to be in a new topic.
