I'm quite stunned that, after ALL the ppl involved with that server, nobody's come up to tell the real story about all this.
I'm not a GM from KayRO. I was just a player there, but I remember what happened and can shed some light on this.
First off,
a small little search here on the RMS Forums can give you quite a bit of background on what happened to the server. Back in around August, when KayRO had reached its peak of like 300-400 players, ppl started getting agitated with the lack of GM activity and some took this as an opportunity to start messing with the server. The first suspicious thing that happened was the incessant MVP farming at the guild houses. Every five minutes, there were broadcasts that someone had killed some MVP in their guild house and it was getting a bit ridiculous. Turns out, some of these ppl from a guild called Sealed had a GM in their membership, and they used his account to start duping items, including bloody branches. This caused, as you can guess, a s*** ton of drama.
Then, upon investigation into that, it was revealed that the head GM of the server, Nomeo, had been taking payments from a player named Imovane. In exchange for basically paying for the server, Imovane received almost any item he wanted and got several lvl 98+ trans chars from the deal. He also got several donation items and eventually, he got access to Nomeo's GM account itself.
At this point, the server had just about had enough. There was a
mass exodus of guilds, and within the next few days, the server was a ghost town. This was around late August when all this happened. By the time September rolled around, the server was, for all intents and purposes, dead. The forums filled with porn bots, nobody logged back in the game anymore, etc. but the GMs left the server open. You COULD still log in without any troubles.
This is when you came in, kyle, I think. They hadn't even wiped the forums until about a day or two ago, so all those pictures and stuff you saw were from when the server was still hella active. No offense to you, dude, but I think you should have done a little more research and maybe thought about what was going on before just ragging on a server that, until a day ago, was essentially dead.
KayRO is now reopening, however. It's in a pseudo-beta atm, and chars will be wiped in about 5 or 6 hours from now. So if you liked what you saw, you can still come back and play! It was a great server before, and as long as they keep their heads above water, KayRO will be one of the best remaining LR servers still.
