HeRO server appreciation
« on: Dec 23, 2011, 01:02 am »
This is a thread I started to get more traffic and people to HeRO server, a place where I have been playing RO for 6 months now. I know I'm new to RMS forums but I've never had a reason to make an account before xD If you are on the look out for a FREE RO low rate with good GMs and a nice environment and WoE too then please read this.

Some info:
It is a low rate server 5x 5x 3x
Been running 6 long years =D and a very happy ones too from what i hear q_q

Here's my take on it as honest as I can make keep it (really love this place xD)

Pretty much always online no lag that could possibly server side(I live very far from the host), never had it crash ever.

A very good PvM environment with a very decent population all enjoying customs that make you wonder how you could possibly have played RO without them.
While maintaining an official environment the dedicated and honest staff have as far as I have seen sought to remove from RO the more painful aspects of the game and make everything very enjoyable.

There is a warper to towns and level 1 dungeons but all warps must be unlocked which would naturally require to complete quests as necessary, and pay a nominal fee for the warp unlock, the warper HERSELF has a quest you may complete to unlock a good number of the warps free of cost, this is an extremely enjoyable quest for a newbie which rewards you well at each stage and upon completion. I found the quest really nice and did it on all my chars even though you make plenty of money to pay to unlock those warps.

The farming gears available through quests balanced by their worth (some particularly hard but so worth it) make leveling and normally mundane farming extremely enjoyable. Most notable would be bee wings and fish, and countless others. I could never play RO without fish lol idk how i ever did. More than anything else i found it makes it profitable to level and farm in places it couldn't possibly be otherwise. And this effectively allows me to explore more of RO while not breaking the bank.

One of the really unique customs I particularly enjoyed is Mr. Hatter, a nefarious old pervert who will repeatedly rob you of a selection of useless cards(OMG I GOT ZOMBIE CARD), and in return for them and other efforts will reward you with a random selection of awesome(and the not so) hats including such treats as the much coveted and seldom received slotted mid.
Probably the most noteworthy event is the Trials of Heroes a monthly event in which heroes may participate and fight through numerous trials for the glory of their chosen allegiance(Light or Dark) and a chance to own their allegiance gear. My 99/70 LK failed last time though rofl no gear and a one month w8 gah Dx

While I may be giving a lot info I do so because I feel that all these additions serve to correct a lot of flaws a low rate server typically has. All in all very newbie friendly and in spite of being a low low rate still manages to allow new players to compete  with veterans.

As for the economy it could be better sure but in my experience you will not ever pay more for an item than the effort that would be required to hunt it on average. Money being very easy to come by I find actual card hunting much more profitable, and very viable too, especially since its complemented by farming gears(easy spots). Plus you get so happy when it finally drops *___*

On the PvP side,

We have PvP rooms and a shout of PvP on main will seldom leave me lonely as heroes rush from all corners to show off their gears and skills by happily bashing my head in(and I their's)
We have a custom BG every hour with ranks and of course points and rewards. (Got my first pace of glorious set yesterday =o)

AAAAND we have WoE:

I happen to be in the smallest WoE guild hero has, apart from the daring ones who occasionally sneak into an unguarded castle while its bearers war elsewhere, WoE on heRO is 2 major guilds, and one small one(mine=D), both very evenly matched and quite large, a FEW of the members of these guilds do infact possess a dignified number of MvP and/or miniboss cards, and both guilds do possess a small number of god items(items obtained viewable on wiki by guild and leader, custom god item components and quest, de randomized treasure chests)but neither of them could be called unbeatable in any sense and all castles are broken a lot every woe, often enough by my own humble guild The Knights of Justice, we may be small but god damned if we aren't sneaky, and while it is extremely difficult for any of the guilds to hold eco now we still manage to get our castle a lot and I personally have spent a generous amount of time farming guild dungeons for profit /GG
A good team of dedicated people pulling all the stops could easily flip the entire WoE scene on its back. Our guild is unfortunately lacking in the numbers required to pull off such a feat but we still manage to give the other guilds a tough time and have made a name for ourselves too ;)

To sum up this is the best server I have ever played on, and i have downloaded countless clients in my search spending months on some of them, I've been here six months and I am never leaving; my RO career will end here on heRO, I can go so far as to say no other low rate does RO as much justice.
Please come try out our server ; D We need heroes.

If you plan to join and would like some assistance you can private message me on hero forums(link above) under the same forum name as I have here and I can provide you with some underwear(rofl) and other stuff a nub could put to use :>

Thanks all!! Have a merry Christmas = D
PS: I just logged and its snowing in Prontera =o

I agree with what's been written. Spent a few weeks on hero back in the day. The only reason I didn't stay was the amount of customs. It's not much but still... I can't stand watching ppl with wings.
