The OP and everyone else on these forums are entitled to their opinions.  Why am I suddenly not entitled to my own?  Why can't someone defend something they like these days?

Because this...

As far as understanding the long term things of it (everything that happened to the server pre-november 2008) you don't have much of a clue and thus can't really get why Essence is and will continue to be one of the best servers.

...is not a defense. It's an arrogant statement of superiority.

Come on, you're talking to the expert of arrogant statements of superiority, here.

There's nothing arrogant about the simple truth.

Does the OP mention anywhere in his review about the fact that Essence has survived a nearly full wipe? A hacking attempt + rollback?  Does he have enough experience to see where each of those WoE guilds came from?
In my eyes, I see what I often see here on RMS.  Some guy plays server X off and on for a month or 2 and suddenly doesn't like what he sees and leaps here at the first sign of trouble to write some scathing review.

yes because surviving a wipe and hack attempt means the server is good (hint no it doesn't it can still suck)

the rich deep history of an RO server means jack if it's not fun to play and that's kind of the whole point of being there

this man does not think essencero is fun to play, and the fact it survived whatever horrible fates does not magically make it more fun

Sounds like a bad server :D Hope it gets better.

Esscence used to be a good server. I dunno what happened, but it seems to be going downhill now.
I see.

A lot of people in this thread are telling the OP that he can't judge the server due to his short amount of time on it, however... Ratings aren't meant to rate how the server was for everyone else, people rate servers to explain their opinion of their own time on it.

Just because someone else had a better time on EssenceRO doesn't mean his opinion is meaningless. He holds valid points if the server is struggling right now, even if it was better at a previous point.

I quit! No longer GMing, thanks.

Such a beautiful, truthful statement.
Proof or it didn't happen.
All server reviews are based on a reviewers experience.
This is how negative server reviews work.

that's because player reviews are reviews of the time the player spent there, not what may or may not have happened before they came or after they left. Which you'd think would be common sense, but I digress
