mmk.. so the server i was playing on was okay, it had no problems and was fun... but this morning i try to go on the server's website, it wont load, then i check the server status on ratemyserver.net, and it says offline for maps, login, and that other thing >.<; i tried again a few minutes ago but it still wont work, did it die? or is it just updating o.o.. (before, when server was offline, people could still use the forums, but now its offline also)

most servers give you a warning either in game or on the forums about a server closing while some just don't care and kill the server without warning so it can be hard to tell at some times but most servers will give you some notice

just wondering wat server was it?

The server that hosts both the forum and the actuall ro server may be down for maintenance or crashed. This happens.

Generally, if a server is down for over 24 hours, it is dead.
However, there could be a case that the servers crashed, and the server host is not able to re-load the server.

Technically the server I'm GMing is dead, and it's fully possible it might never start back up again becuase the owner keeps considering alternatives. It has been down 2 weeks now since electricity fragged it, and gets started up for 30 minute intervals for beta testing, not much else. We were aiming to have it up by November, but once it started back up, I was going to be retiring from it /swt ... The server's RMS posting was deleted within 36 hours I believe by yC when she recieved the report. I'm glad, becuase coincidentally about 24 hours earlier, I had sent riotblade a request to delete the RMS advertisement, since it wasn't even created by the owner of the server!! We had a corrupt GM who slapped us with Google Ads, slapped some other sites with false ads to link them to us, and then jsut up and left for seemingly no reason. There were 3 GMs that left, so it could be any of the three >_<; So I guess the answer to the question is, 24-48 hours (1 to 2 days), and the server still might not actually be dead, just down for repairs, or something similar.

My server have had experience with dedi-box wasn't able to successfully do a reboot and it stayed offline for about 3-4 days. Nothing that my team can do coz I haven't given them access to the server's portal/cp so no one could reboot the server via data center's ipmi. All freaked trying to contact me but I was out the country. So technically my server was dead and lost quite a lot of players because of that.

Now... I gave my right hand man limited access to the server's portal so he can submit support tickets if the server goes unresponsive.
