So I'm curious. Recently I've noticed a trend of people flocking to WoE orientated servers. I can't say I'm surprised, at the end of the day, it's what is most exciting in RO. So you get a server that hands you everything you need to WoE without overdoing it, then have a lot of WoE's, and on paper it sounds like a masterplan.

But I have to wonder why a lot of people say that they will play xx server until VisionRO2 opens up. I'm not trying to promote the server, even though I realize I'm doing so indirectly. It's just that I didn't even play the first one. What makes this server stand out from the others?

For there IS others, I've seen. But as it turns out, they just don't compare to this VisionRO2 I keep hearing about. Can anyone explain what makes this server so special? What's so amazing about it? Why is it so much better than other servers?

And as a bonus question, does anyone really think 1 WoE SE everyday at different times with different castles would make an ideal WoE orientated server, or would it be more far apart?

That's one thing I've noticed. Some of these servers hand you everything to WoE, it's all about WoE, only about WoE, yet there's only about 2-3 WoE's a week. What's the point?

vRO v1 was similar to many of the WoE servers today with high rates and such (one of the first english-speaking ones). It had catered to some of the best english-speaking WoE guilds, but there were still issues that brought its end. However, knowing these mistakes and seeing what the WoE community wished for, vROv2 was created to address those important issues.

I've never heard of these WoE servers before.  Good idea on paper.  Does it tend to work out o.k. in practice?  Sounds like something I'd be interested in.

We'll see if it works out or not. It's like a permanent SuperWoE

Many cute words but it doesn't address anything at all. What important issues?

What was similar with vRO1 vs (in your words) WoE servers today with high rates and such?

There is a few fundamental problems with WoE servers that doesn't have a pvm part. First is the problem with zeny. There wont be any economy on this server incase you cant come up with some really brilliant idea that changes things to work in their benefit. Second is the problem with keeping players attached to the server. What will they do when there is no WoE? Play battlegrounds, pvp or gvg. Third is the problem with EQ. There aren't many varieties of EQ to choose from on a server like vRO2. It'll be balanced fine but the many varieties of EQ setups you can do on an ordinary server doesn't exist here.

No offence against vRO2 at all, it's a good idea and I hope he can ace all of these issues that exists. Surely there is more issues than I've brought into light above and I am sure others will contribute with them.

There's a reason why it's called a WoE oriented server. It doesn't focus on PvM and obtaining zeny, unlike in vROv1. Pano would probably have a way to counter that, that was one of the reasons why vROv1 was pretty much of a success in terms of competition and failure in other parts.

Well, the recent trend in WoE servers rising, i'd say they're all 'wannabe's actually. Just take a look @ pRO who claims that their own server is 'woe oriented' along with despicableRO. Their competition is AWFUL. Imho, I think server's that actually calls themselves WoE servers, aren't WoE players as much, of PvM instead, like they are just mild WoE-rs, without proper WoE background knowledge thus failing or maybe not even meeting the basic outlook of WoE 2010.

Many have servers open thinking to be a woe oriented servers but every one forgot entertainment lies in leveling and grilling together

You made some good points.

Is it better for players that a WoE server has no MVP cards or that everyone can obtain the same gear, putting them on an equal level?

The idea of economy obviously is an issue for any server, a lot of things have to be taken into consideration since zeny (in-game currency) is important for donations. If people could not obtain items which affect the in-game experience, this would obviously cause a problem for the server funding. It will be interesting to see how this issue will be dealt with.

vRO 2 has an Economy. But it's not Zeny, it's based of Coins/Points which allows you to have better gears. But its obtainable by everyone. (Donates, are still vague though)

:| No zeny

Also, grinding is probably something I don't like.

found this link while googling VisionRO 2.0.

Seems interesting but you'd have to be a pvp nut to get any enjoyment out of this server since it doesn't even have the regular leveling maps.  Also no MVPing?  I guess different strokes for different folks.  I would probably give it a shot for at least a month.

Anyone know when it's coming online?
