There were a whole flood of them some time ago, now they seem to have gone out of fashion. Am I out of the loop or do they cease to exist? Been wondering for some time now.

WoE is mainstream u__u players go to Battleground

tomosuke

Most BG servers have horrible players. Most WoE servers are in Spanish and I don't think any big server is active right now. Players are just waiting for damageRO 2.0

Any info on it?

I'm surprised woe servers still exist with all the MOBA's and fresh new games that recently came out.

fluidin

i think after damage most of them are either in spanish/br servers, or classic iro, or just slacking around.

XileRo is the only HR I know that has a reasonable PvP system. I did watch the RWC like you said, all I see is people spamming the room like every other gang fight there is in RO.

AMzobud

I've heard DamageRO won't be opening for a bit.

Bone-RO pmuch the same thing. Theres people playing there.

When you ask for woe servers, are there any specific thing that make them "woe servers".  I'd think some servers with some population will have some competition in woe and that'll make them a woe server somewhat.

Woon

The problem with running a "WOE server" where your focus is pvp woe and BG is that when one big guild leaves your entire server dies.

As yC said there are servers out there with high enough population and their focus is not WOE, but they have good WOE because there are so many players playing it.

Intricate

One should make the initiation to merge all servers with standardized equip(s) for one mega WoE fest, requires a ton of resources!

This actually happened once, pretty sure it was feal-ro or somthing like that.

no, thats the problem with having woe with only 1-2 very large guilds

Yuzo

So are there any decently sized woe servers out there?

DeePee

Servers that rely on one or two features generally do not remain very long and will have a hard time keeping a steady population for a good period of time. As said before, one big guild leaves, the entire server could be wrecked. People eventually grow bored as there's nothing else for them to do but WoE WoE and WoE more.

The whole reason people join those servers is for WoE, they don't care really about any other feature except maybe BG.
Super Smash Brothers 64!

Indeed. But it is also the reason there are so few of them. If people leave all the time, those servers are bound to die after a while. While those servers are exactly what some people are looking for, it's likely only a temporary "fix" for their WoE cravings.

Chojiro

A lot of guilds were at bonero a short while ago...they were all Russian iirc

I know this is a late response but most people consider WoE servers where a significant portion of the hardcore woe guilds actually join. Aside from the BR/Spanish guilds which I don't really know much of, you have WPE, GVGMODE, awk, JU, COT, UFT, or guilds made up of ex-players from said guilds.

The concept of a WOE server is self is the reason those servers are so rare and short lived. They are totally 100% dependent on guild competition. As soon as the competition is not good enough or something does not go their way, the guilds stat leaving and server dies almost instantly.

Unfortunately I have experienced WOE guilds coming and leaving my server many times. I am not a huge fan of drawing them to my server as they are very disrespectful to the community, have no loyalty to a server, and only have their own best interest in mind. This does not apply to all, I have had the good fortune of drawing a few guilds that I loved having on the server and still do.

Admins that decide to pursue any server that is focused on one area of RO are taking a huge risk. Simply because the boredom factor kicks in eventually and they just leave. At the same time any attempts to change that area of focus results in serious back lash.

Yuzo

I saw this "Woe-RO" server listed a few days ago. Has anyone tried it yet?

Paradise

WoE servers are pretty rare nowadays.
There's still few decent ones but they're not well known -- no reviews or low ratings.
I might be wrong though (I was never a big fan of WoE Servers :p).
