Are u behind iRO?

iRO has announced the release of Episode 12 on its Sakray server. It's predicted that it won't be long, before the full Episode 12 be released on their premium servers and perhaps even their f2p server.


It would appear that this will be the first time, iRO will be ahead of most english private servers. Until now, it has always been a strongly held belief that private servers do and should obtain updates faster than official servers outside of Korea.


There are a small handful of private serves which has already implemented some episode 12 features on their servers - including some customisation, but is there any out there, which has already implemented a fully working episode 12 or even episode 13?

Actually, anyone who's running a newer version of eAthena, and uses fully updated versions of kRO and Sakray has them. I've been to a few of the new maps on my own test server.

This is not the right way to see at it. Traditionally iRO has been hella SLOW to purchase the Episodes and get updated, they have always been behind kRO for nearly a year or more. And THIS is why eAthena has had time to catch up with kRO and remain ahead of iRO.

iRO closing in kRO is actually a good thing for private servers because then you don't need to force your players to install kRO and deal with the whole translation issues, you could just get the official iRO client.

I don't think most players who are into RO private servers do so because "iRO is so damn outdated..." (there are many other, stronger, reasons, imo).

I know moscovia and new world maps/mobs are there, and satan morroc is in half-assed state the last time i checked.

I think if in fact iRO is getting those, does it make eAthena's work easier by going onto iRO to get info and implement?

Skotlex, i am curious ... any idea how far is eAthena into the list?

No idea. I have not done any eA development in a long time, so I do not know what exactly are those people doing. Playtester who was the main script/db guy was also out, so I don't have much of a contact into knowing what is going on.

Perhaps once I manage my time some more and find time for working again on eA I'll have more answers.

Although private servers have the maps and mobs for episode 12, they don't have the NPC's and other scripts for it. At least, not as an official eAthena release. At the moment, there's a separate team that's handling episode 12 releases. So far, they have Moscovia, Dimensional Gorge, Endless Tower, and Battlegrounds, although there are still a few bugs here and there as far as I can see, and some of the translations still need a lot of work.
