Unprofessional GM's are the ones I see hated on the most, and most deserving. Making typos in Global Messages, total lack of grammar and puncuation is a complete turn off. Being a GM is supposed to mean you're on a higher level. If the players can see you don't deserve the level of authority and power you have then they will begin throwing the stones.
theres a time and a place for everything, something like a global message i'd agree with you

but sometimes if your too professional you can come off as rude, or just plain scary....

So GMs aren't allowed to make typos every once in a while? XD

Irrelevant

Typos are fine, they're mistakes, after all. I don't think decent to perfect grammar sets you off as a scary GM, rather the attitude you take with your players. You could type with proper grammar, punctuation and such, but if you still talk to your players as an equal, they will see you as an equal as well.

Stuff I really don't like on a GM that's speaking is abbreviations and/or text emotions.

Me: I want to report some slander from another player
GM: are u sure hes slanderin u??? ^^;;

Well, there is a time and place for a GM to have friends and show their personal side to people. Personalities is what causes conflictions and biasi though.

...in the eyes of the beholder.

If server staff portray themselves as a bunch of illiterate fourteen year olds (more often than not because they ARE), I'm not going to stick around. That's probably one of the biggest server turn-offs for me (and it unfortunately applies to about 85% of servers).

I've yelled at my staff for not capitalising and punctuating on broadcast on more than one occasion - it's not exactly hard. Looks amateurish and lazy, and reflects poorly on server in general.

NOT GOOD.

Loki

Typing illiterately annoys most mature people. Thus, the hate they give to certain GM's.

GMs should not make any friends with players, once they do they tend to be bias, they can always make friends as a regural player w/o the GM status.

This has been driving me friggin insane, so I'll get this out of the way: it's BIASED, not BIAS.

XD

Okies anyway. I dunno, I disagree. I think that GMs (at least for PR) have to be friendly. Not everyone who has friends on their server will automatically give the people advantages, especially if the admin checks logs. Not all GMs are these horrible people everyone makes them out to be.

laoganma

admins tend (means not all) to have someone close to be their GM, real-life friend, cousin or girlfriend/boyfriend, if any of them being bias admins tend (means not always) to try to cover it up to save the servers reputation.

admin and GMs are humans, they make mistakes too like being bias and immature.

This is true, in some cases. Look at Akihito, from ZNRO(I think...). Apparently was completely corrupt, banning people who fought against his RL girlfriend.

I'll come right out and admit it, my head GM is my RL wife, Katherine. However, she has seen just as much corruption as I have, and back on CorrosiveRO, her legits didn't exceed level 120, she worked for everything she had gear-wise, her stats were legit, et cetera. Not to mention, she's a great GM and has a good amount of knowledge of how to run an RO server. She can script, do graphics, manage the CP, databases, SQL, so on and so forth. If I didn't feel she was up for the job, I wouldn't have hired her on. But go ahead, go out and call me corrupt, people.

To be quite honest, I would much rather have people on my staff that I know personally, especially in close friendship. That way, I know that I can trust them with our project, rather than place it in the hands of a complete stranger who could do lord-knows-what to the server.

Off-Topic: Lao, PLEASE do something about your signature, it really makes you look ridiculous.

Here is one uncommon reason that makes GM hated:

We had just hired a new Game Master. He was well known and liked player. He just had really bad luck. Day after he became GM he found a MVP card on his normal character. You can imagine all the flaming he got about how he used his GM powers to make that card etc. We checked all the logs and it really dropped. but community didn't believe it. Item drop rate was only like 2x or 3x. So talk about bad luck, eh?
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

What people fail to realize is that GMs are usually made GMs because of the time they put into the server, which, duh, would result in them getting good s*** eventually. XD

Everyone will QQ endlessly as long as someone has "GM" in front of their name.

Especially if they find out said GM is actually playing RO too, God forbid.
