Exactly what the title says...

not everyone can be a GM, strong ones will survive, weak ones (immature) will fall.

I wish. I really, really do wish it always worked out that way. Sometimes the immature drag the whole damn server down with them.

I agree with Anti-Static Foam Cleaner, I've noticed those GM's are probably the most loved people on staff. Probably has something to do with that whole "not being a part of the drama" thing. :)

Being a GM makes a GM hated.  Simple as that lol.

Becoming a GM means you sacrifice a part of your soul forever, be prepared.

GMs take a lot of heat just because they are GMs. Many people automatically believe that if a GM has a legit character, then they're cheating. They can be easily misunderstood if they're having conversations with some close friends, now they're bias. Then you have those types that have an ego just because they -are- the GM and they can treat you however they want, it's their server. True enough on that but don't you think players make a server grow... According to those types, nope not one bit.

Being fair, being friendly and available, handling any suggestions (great or stupid) with professionalism and respect-- would garner more love then hate.. but won't cure everyone of their hate of GMs. Statistically IMPOSSIBLE !

Hmmm, what makes a GM hated. Well, first of all if they don't meet standards to even be GMs is kinda bad. I mean, other players would think that there's favoritism present in the server.

What makes a GM hated : "When a" format.
When a GM is rude to players.
When a GM doesn't give the right information or doesn't help at all.
When a GM uses a player for his own personal gain/benefit.
When a GM decides to make enemies with players. (GMs shouldn't have friends or enemies).
When a GM doesn't take the proper actions to a case or does not hear a player's plead of attention to a certain situation.

True dat. People will never be completely satisfied with you if you have GM in front of your name.

I'll add more

When a GM stay to the rules

When a GM ban one of their best friend

When a GM didn't want to give them free items

When a GM can prove he/she isn't corrupt

but seriously, there'll always have 2 sides, one against you, and one side with you xD

Alright now, who cares?

If you can't stand being hated, don't be a GM.

I'm not an angsty teenager with rebellious tendencies, but I'm also leery of corruption in positions of power. Think of it this way: do you like the police? I can't honestly say that I do. I respect them and understand that their duty is to protect citizens and uphold the law. But I still hold my breath every time I pass a police car. As far as I know, I haven't done anything wrong, so why should I feel nervous? I think it's because I feel as if they're always watching me until I do something that barely qualifies as illegal - like park just past 16 inches away from the curb or forget to signal while making a left turn. If I didn't know better, it almost feels as if they want something to go wrong. It also doesn't help that I don't know each police officer personally, so I don't know how trustworthy each one is. Corruption can affect police officers just as easily as anybody else. Maybe if they earned my respect, I wouldn't go on high alert every time I see one.

GMs are like police officers.

Short version: I agree with Mewi. Being a GM makes you hated... unless you've earned enough respect as an individual that players trust you more than their own friends. Good luck with that one though.

Agree, but even so, it is highly impossible to make EVERYONE happy.

Well, I hate it when a GM tries to make up excuses to save his donkey.  And I don't like GMs that aren't active in game and/or on the forums.  I

From my experiences, most of the personal flames I get are from people I've permanently banned, mostly as a result of botting.

On a more general level, players tend to be unhappy when they think their issues are being neglected. There are like so many bugs, fake bugs, suggestions, repeated suggestions, reports against players, support tickets (many of which lack any detail) and a lot of other things, so it does make it a bit difficult to solve everything. I've learned though, that it's better to respond and say that nothing can be done about it than to leave it and hope that a solution will come up after a few days/weeks/months.
Don't worry, be happy =(

Lucanesti

Unprofessional GM's are the ones I see hated on the most, and most deserving. Making typos in Global Messages, total lack of grammar and puncuation is a complete turn off. Being a GM is supposed to mean you're on a higher level. If the players can see you don't deserve the level of authority and power you have then they will begin throwing the stones.

Similar to Scar:

You are not fit to be a GM if you can't handle the hate nor should you care if you people hate you.
