What makes a GM hated?

Exactly what the title says...

I was wondering, some GMs are not really bad, but somehow those players hated them.
What makes a good GM hated?

well there are many elements to how a gm is hated and try doing these few things it may not make a GM hated that much although bad players have friends tat or equally if not badder(not a word but i juz used it to amplify the meaning)

also since ur a GM and human ur twice as vulnerable to paranoid people

first of all if they know ur legits and u were once weak the moment u improve and kill them and their ego takes over the GM would be accused of itemlisting and all that s***

second when ur afk no matter what u do put up a pub/chatroom saying ur afk and leave ur questions there u'l answer them cuz people can misunderstand that u dun wanna help them where the fact is ur AFK

third is that when the server becomes lag they players expect u to fix it so yea if ur powerless against it u'll gradually lose trust and faith of ur players and screw soemthing up and u become hated

fourth is when ur a GM naturally a human reaction will occur and of course an ego will take over but it can be controlled witht good resistance to temptations and form good bonds with players but also this ego can take over and cause u to be hated by most players so yea beware of this

fifth is to never submit to anger GMs are humans but the players expect GMs to be gods so yea try to hold ur anger back even if ur short tempered cuz it'll only get u hated

sixth is to remember to talk to players like friends and not talking to them as if theres a big gap between GM and player

seventh is to make sure punishments are met out accordingly and on time

eigth is to never flame players this is one of the most important even in forums for their suggestions explain kindly why this or this should not be implemented and reasons why never flame cuz players take time to think up of suggestions too never ignore suggestions and try to implement as much as possible to make the player body firm and strong

ninth is to never show too much of ur bad side to players once in awhile is ok but not too many times

last or so i feel is to make sure punishments are reasonable and before u actually ban somebody ask another GM for his/her opinion

A GM has to set an example to the players. In my opinion, they must be fair, honest and as civil as possible. Violating any of these makes me lose respect for a server.

Honestly, if I have to define those three traits to someone then there is an issue.

making a bad choice (usually with WoE)
doing something they don't like.....

But really, to be hated by trashes is only normal.
If beggars/rule breakers likes you, then most likely you got a problem.

Asking what makes other people hate other people is like asking what's your favourite colour. The answer is "everything you can imagine of" because people are that varied. If it is in you nature to dislike/hate authority, you will hate them, the excuse is irrelevant.

Tricky question so here's a tricky answer: Drawing too much attention to him/herself.

From my experience it's the GMs who keep cool, rarely post, just show up and do their jobs who are liked much more than those who are all over the place in both game and forums since it inevitably leads to drama.

For example, you could become hated like how Littlechan mentioned: Doing your job. People freak out when they get jailed, temporarily banned, etc. Regardless of what they were doing.

I had this one guy(BIG donator) on a server I GM'd, who happened to also be botting and using WPE. Caught him using bots to farm EDP and Acid Bottle ingredients, and caught him WPEing in WoE, where we had set delays and he was firing off Soul Breakers like they were meant to be rapid-fire. I banned him for it, and he posted a topic that said "GM RUIN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!", and next thing I knew, I was hated by the ENTIRE Filipino/net-cafe playing community. I am NOT kidding about that topic title, either. :X

As others mention, when you're a gm and you apply the rules and hand punishment to people who break them they will usually hate you, failing to realize that it's entirely their own fault.

Antsy youngster rebelling against authority is also something I see often, you represent the authority, therefor they will side against you and hate you.

Exactly what the title says...

positive = RO full of kids, they are just just looking for something to do.

negative = corrupt and abusive GMs.

not everyone can be a GM, strong ones will survive, weak ones (immature) will fall.
