How about because the actual monsters are challenging? I know shocking concept! Or was your idea that the challenge was being able to stay awake while grinding? :p

You played too much MouRO. Monsters in RO start being challenging only when you want final equips.

Or when you're partying.

I never found RO monsters challenging at all except for the overly powerful MVPs and their over powerful skills.

Yes, even when trying to find that final equip. It just became tedious.

=3 what about the new offical 0.5/0.5/0.5 rate server? <3

my issue with that is i expect quests to become the new faster and better way to level which makes my method of leveling (off quests) less unique

iRO has a 0.5/0.5/0.5 now? i guess that if they wanna make lvling off quests the focus than thats good.

kRO introduced a free to play server with half the rates.

But who cares? If you can dual client, rates are pretty meaningless

Why can't they just change it to 0.1 with healbuffer npc?

As much as I love high rate hybrids (1k rates with max level 99, or something like that), my best experiences were definitely on low rate servers. You find such better communities on them, and players are always more dedicated on low rate servers. On a hybrid, players come and go so quickly because PvP can only entertain you so long.

However, I'm too lazy to play low rates now. =/

LR ftw.

Any server where the players feel truly attached to their characters and their community is unbeatable.

Although i've had fun on max lv 99 HR hybrids in the past, i could never get attatched to them.

And max lv 255/999 SHR servers are just stupid.
Impossible is nothing..

You fellows pain me.

The reason most people think High-Rate is dumb is because they are looking at it in comparison to Low rate with its base level of 99, job 70, etc.

Consider highrates as an entirely new experience seperate (because in truth, they are) from the mechanics of low rate RO. It has its own potential for balance and can be just as great as any low rate. I could spend a long time talking about this, but i think you get the idea.

Conclusion: highrates and lowrates are like the difference between skate boarding and sail boating. One is more smooth and pleasurable, while the other is bone-crushingly fun. Both are nice, which is why both high rates and low rates still exist.

HR "can be" while low rate "is". I hope I do not have to explain to you that rebalancing ENTIRE RO to accomodate higher rates is almost impossible.

HR exist mostly because there will always be people who want to do quick buck and suckers to give them said buck.

Now that's not entirely fair is it? While I'm not a fan of high rate, I can still admit it's a different experience, and it holds value for those who like it, to each their own ^_^;
heRO is a great friendly, sociable yet WoE active, unique and fun server of 5/5/3 rates with 400+ players, give it a try!

Standard RO is balanced? That's news to me. :p
