I hear people talking about it all the time and saw like so many remakes. what did it have that made it a such a good server? also was it a high rate max 255, because i never played it. tell me you guys, what is so good about THAT serverr

I think it was just the people missing it that's all.  It was one of the biggest server in its time so you are likely to run into many people played it.  I played it for a very short period of time after one of the server I played died.  I am a low/mid rate person, I played it only because I felt empty after all my effort wasted on the previous server, just want to take some time off leveling/hunting.

I can't say I remember anything unique about it.  People miss the action because it had 1k-2k (?) online and because they got friends playing with them.  As for the server itself, I can only remember seeing a topic created by the server owner saying the hosting cost was $2400~ and then ask for donation for around that much -.-.

The server was always at the top in voting lists so it's hard to not know about it or gave it a try.

Maybe search for old topics in this forum will give you some ideas.  I am more interested in hearing how did it die.

In all honesty qRO wasn't very special. Just a big server at that time with a notable job changing system (at least the Low Rate 5/5/3 had) where one didn't have to reborn at all - for example as a Knight, you could change to a Lord Knight when your base level was only at 90. On change your base level remained at 90, you got the 100 extra stat points, and your job level went to one of course. If I recall correctly, in case you failed to change your job at base level 90 and became anything over that, for example 91, you'd be stuck as a second class forever. o_o

Time really does gild peoples' memories, everyone just speaks of how perfect and great qRO was. Even though it had many serious issues. People could crash the server at will causing a rollback at one point, thus enabling people to upgrade their equipment to god-tier. Furthermore, duping zeny/items was possible back then with the help of multi-clienting on the same account with the correct timing. Certain donators were ridiculously powerful, I wonder if the name Super Dealer rings anyone's bells. Also remember the time <GM>FrostyCPU's account was hacked and everyone in the server were given as many solar god helms their inventories, carts and storages could possibly handle. Good times. ^^

However, qRO still remains legendary as it was many peoples first RO p.server and got people in this game (me included). People requested parties in Orc Dungeon and grimtooth'd Seals for epic exp as well as killed MvPs from dead branches. Population was huuuge and Izlude was always filled with merchants.

As for how it died; The admin Raveux did state that he could no longer administrate qRO. Reason was somewhere between the lines of wanting to move on in life and financial issues, thus agreeing to sell the server to an individual who was interested in keeping it alive. Rumors say that someone purchased the whole shibang but never made it public for some reason.

This is all from my memory. If someone remembers better or knows more, feel free to correct me. =P

good times to the old days.  no one gives a f*** about corruption if they're having a good time and/or are ignorant of the situation.

It was a very fun big server.

Having a few superdonors and people with very high + mvp gear isnt going to make a big impact if there is like 1.5k+ online for WoE.

PvP room was always active, WoEs were big and there was an unmoderated rant section for all the e-drama.

Guild hating eachother, the usual pinoy/spanish/non english speaker guilds vs other guilds vs that one big guild everyone hated anyway etc.

And ofc nostalgia.

KnighT

The corruption and superdonors wtver kinda came at the end of the server's time...

What made it awesome was it had a big population and the WoEs were massive, you had 20castles open and atleast 2guilds fighting each other in every castle.

aluze

The only good thing about this server was the population.
The stability was horrible, it crashed every 5-10 mins yet people still login after every crashes

Well.. it was a pretty old eA, crashes happened on private servers. We all grew used to that, and it wasn't 5-10 mins you must have been high on crack to think that.

They had a low rate and high rate, the high rate I was the god of pvp for 2 years. And the low rate I didn't play at all except during woe. It was easy since everyone gave me gear.

aluze

Let's smoke crack togheter son

Anyway it did crash every 5-10mins during some period

It wasn't that 'OLD'. eathena RC5 that's what i call old and q-ro was far beyond RC5.
eathena was pretty stable at that time and shouldn't make a server crash so often. The server had lots of problems during their time when they were about to die out. Not sure i heard there were kids using scripts to crash the server on commands.
Q-Ro used Freya as i recall, not sure if you can call that eathena.

PVP room was the best. 30+ people 90% are champs cos GR/Dev wasnt working lol. HR server btw

Orange

I loved it because it was one of my first servers, and it was the first one I played on that had a big population. It was extremely different to the 20 people online I was use to
:3

MVPAresX

Was the first private server I ever played.

I remember leveling a Champ in Bio 2 by spamming FO, then going to Bio 3 and using Asura on everything with Yggs.

I spent my days sitting in the DB Room farming MVPs from Dead Branches.. I'd sit in the corner with 3k+ and just spam FO till an MVP appeared. It was honest the best time I have ever had on an RO server.

I was heartbroken when it went down, I met some really cool people there.. Made a lot of friends, even met a girlfriend that actually lived in the same City/State as me.

This post is just pure nostalgia for me, and I thank the person who posted it as well as the last person to post here before me. You brought back GOOD memories of my childhood/teenage years.
