I hear people talking about it all the time and saw like so many remakes. what did it have that made it a such a good server? also was it a high rate max 255, because i never played it. tell me you guys, what is so good about THAT serverr

yC

I think it was just the people missing it that's all.  It was one of the biggest server in its time so you are likely to run into many people played it.  I played it for a very short period of time after one of the server I played died.  I am a low/mid rate person, I played it only because I felt empty after all my effort wasted on the previous server, just want to take some time off leveling/hunting.

I can't say I remember anything unique about it.  People miss the action because it had 1k-2k (?) online and because they got friends playing with them.  As for the server itself, I can only remember seeing a topic created by the server owner saying the hosting cost was $2400~ and then ask for donation for around that much -.-.

The server was always at the top in voting lists so it's hard to not know about it or gave it a try.

Maybe search for old topics in this forum will give you some ideas.  I am more interested in hearing how did it die.

In all honesty qRO wasn't very special. Just a big server at that time with a notable job changing system (at least the Low Rate 5/5/3 had) where one didn't have to reborn at all - for example as a Knight, you could change to a Lord Knight when your base level was only at 90. On change your base level remained at 90, you got the 100 extra stat points, and your job level went to one of course. If I recall correctly, in case you failed to change your job at base level 90 and became anything over that, for example 91, you'd be stuck as a second class forever. o_o

Time really does gild peoples' memories, everyone just speaks of how perfect and great qRO was. Even though it had many serious issues. People could crash the server at will causing a rollback at one point, thus enabling people to upgrade their equipment to god-tier. Furthermore, duping zeny/items was possible back then with the help of multi-clienting on the same account with the correct timing. Certain donators were ridiculously powerful, I wonder if the name Super Dealer rings anyone's bells. Also remember the time <GM>FrostyCPU's account was hacked and everyone in the server were given as many solar god helms their inventories, carts and storages could possibly handle. Good times. ^^

However, qRO still remains legendary as it was many peoples first RO p.server and got people in this game (me included). People requested parties in Orc Dungeon and grimtooth'd Seals for epic exp as well as killed MvPs from dead branches. Population was huuuge and Izlude was always filled with merchants.

As for how it died; The admin Raveux did state that he could no longer administrate qRO. Reason was somewhere between the lines of wanting to move on in life and financial issues, thus agreeing to sell the server to an individual who was interested in keeping it alive. Rumors say that someone purchased the whole shibang but never made it public for some reason.

This is all from my memory. If someone remembers better or knows more, feel free to correct me. =P

good times to the old days.  no one gives a f*** about corruption if they're having a good time and/or are ignorant of the situation.
Super Smash Brothers 64!

It was a very fun big server.

Having a few superdonors and people with very high + mvp gear isnt going to make a big impact if there is like 1.5k+ online for WoE.

PvP room was always active, WoEs were big and there was an unmoderated rant section for all the e-drama.

Guild hating eachother, the usual pinoy/spanish/non english speaker guilds vs other guilds vs that one big guild everyone hated anyway etc.

And ofc nostalgia.

KnighT

The corruption and superdonors wtver kinda came at the end of the server's time...

What made it awesome was it had a big population and the WoEs were massive, you had 20castles open and atleast 2guilds fighting each other in every castle.

aluze

The only good thing about this server was the population.
The stability was horrible, it crashed every 5-10 mins yet people still login after every crashes

Well.. it was a pretty old eA, crashes happened on private servers. We all grew used to that, and it wasn't 5-10 mins you must have been high on crack to think that.

They had a low rate and high rate, the high rate I was the god of pvp for 2 years. And the low rate I didn't play at all except during woe. It was easy since everyone gave me gear.

aluze

Let's smoke crack togheter son

Anyway it did crash every 5-10mins during some period

It wasn't that 'OLD'. eathena RC5 that's what i call old and q-ro was far beyond RC5.
eathena was pretty stable at that time and shouldn't make a server crash so often. The server had lots of problems during their time when they were about to die out. Not sure i heard there were kids using scripts to crash the server on commands.
Q-Ro used Freya as i recall, not sure if you can call that eathena.

PVP room was the best. 30+ people 90% are champs cos GR/Dev wasnt working lol. HR server btw

Orange

I loved it because it was one of my first servers, and it was the first one I played on that had a big population. It was extremely different to the 20 people online I was use to
:3

MVPAresX

Was the first private server I ever played.

I remember leveling a Champ in Bio 2 by spamming FO, then going to Bio 3 and using Asura on everything with Yggs.

I spent my days sitting in the DB Room farming MVPs from Dead Branches.. I'd sit in the corner with 3k+ and just spam FO till an MVP appeared. It was honest the best time I have ever had on an RO server.

I was heartbroken when it went down, I met some really cool people there.. Made a lot of friends, even met a girlfriend that actually lived in the same City/State as me.

This post is just pure nostalgia for me, and I thank the person who posted it as well as the last person to post here before me. You brought back GOOD memories of my childhood/teenage years.

Honestly I can't count how many "new" "reborn" "remade" "resurrection" of Quality RO were created (with disappointment I heard) after the original died.

Now, how can we tell yet another new one is from the "original" or not?  If at all this is possible.  (reminds me of Project RO that kinda fall in the same case).

Intricate

I loved their donor room idea. Plus the WoE was great back then.

NickCarterBR

Q-ro is certainly the most captivating server!!

There i learnt all my survival english, never needing to classing on a course, or school..

I miss the HR server with it's 3k/3k/1k 10% drop cards.. it was democratic.. by the time when it turned out from freya to eathena and it's biolab maps.. it started to be a lil disgusting, when the gm staff along with their friends, started accumulating power by using those super cards overall at woe and pvp.

Guilds i must remember:

SoulSociety
†Slayers†
COTR
Bliss
Encore
Silver's guild (Revolt)
DNAngels
RR
Incandescence
MIBR

and many others..

Best castle Hohen (aldebaran castle fields)
Second Best Honglou (payon castle fields)

these two, were considered the best ones, cuz hoh used to drop on a good economy at least 3 SGH per week, and hon used to drop a unique item, when combined with others could forge a sgh.

The solar Helm was the highest symbol of richness and royalty.

Notable Chars:

IchimaruGin (SS Woe Leader and Master)
Autumn (Jenn)
Bombado
Dun remember Cotr's leader :(
Silver (Revolt Leader)
Veruna (MIBR LEADER)
Ridz (RR Leader - Pinoy Guild)
Kotori (Along with Ichi, one of the leaders of SS)

GM Lauren, Rave, GM Karen, Kotori, Kakashi (creator of kakashi's client), etc..

Miss those times.

vienesh

qRO was the best server compared to other Private RO servers because there was no donation items, no god items like megs, mjolnir etc... All great players have to out think each other just to win. Pvp and 8v8 in HR server was the best. I also enjoyed controlling the hunt for Thanatos, LOL =)

Let's just say, we miss the days when there are a limited number of private servers so that population are more concentrated and management are more well-organized.  Just feel like saying this today ;)

Xav669

was my first ro private server and i miss it very much. I played low and HR. in low rate i was Salsamora profesor of GK guild the best guild with G-Spot and many more. the WOE was very interesting because were latins vs americans all the way even in pvp. in hr i was Legend Monk competitive in PVP/WOE. if some1 create the same server pls let us know cuz there is a lot of people waiting for one kind of a server. Another point was no rebirth and was very cool cuz you continue training and getting gear for woe.

khang

It was good back then when we still comparing official server and private servers. It will not be the same if anyone recreate qRO with customization, but without customization it can't compete with the rest. Who would play in a server without any commands now? I know i would but if it's only me, i might as well play it localhosted.

Whenever i passed geffen it will always remind me of qRO. I remember when i decided to actually donate.. server been discontinued.. bummer! :( It was fun nevertheless..

BastardArrow

Lol, i created an account just to reply this.

..What to say...i loved QRO. It has been the game I loved the most, I doubt I'll ever find anything better. What you guys said, even the little things.. really make me feel nostalgic. I also learned my english there (lol), it was more useful than class. I met a lot of interesting people, it sparkled my passion for travelling, it kept me company when i needed it. All of this with also having a social life of course. So, in the end, I really have to thank this game, or better, that server, and all the people I met, for what they've given to me. It sounds a bit stupid maybe, but it really helped me grow, develop as a person. This is the love i have for QRO.

Oh, and apart from all the sentimental stuff, I'd DEFINITELY play a new QRO, meaning a completely identical one, without wings and s*** and donor or overpowered stuff. And i know at least 50 people that would do the same. I opened ratemyserver.net exactly to see if there was a similar server. And i found this. So...what now?:)

BastardArrow

Well, I'll try the new Ceres Ro... it's the most similar to QRO.. told my friends already, why don't we all join? All qro nostalgic all together? :)

Novus Orbis

Well the word quality was in it's name, so it had to be good!
(I'm joking if you can't tell. I never actually played the server because I preferred the official servers over private ones back in the day.)

KidVenom23

Well.. I enjoyed qRO before, it was populated and an active server. It was really fun playing there. I hope another server will emerged like that. just sharing  /no1

pitkalsar

well I created an account just to reply this XD

well I played in low rate server since 2004-2006. i remember some of the guilds were pbr, dfk, chaos haven, arch angels, the haunted, sotd, gk,  and lots more to remember. what I can say about this server is it taught me a lot, about everything, friendship, foes, about ragnarok itself, learn some english and lots more. corruption, crash, duping, e-drama, wow it brings back the memories. i remmber if u dc'ed during woe its hard for u to get back in lol. woe was massive, gvg was cool. really miss those days.
