So an old friend, Vision RO creator Pano, decided to make a server and asked if I would help with setting stuff up.     /swt     It's been a long time but sure sounds like fun!

As we talked about what might and might now work it made me wonder...  what things do people see as necessities in a Pre-re, 99/70, 150x/150x, 50x normal drop, WoE / BG orientated server?  what things do you see on servers that keep you from even giving them a try?

We think we have a basic direction, good ideas (yea I know, everyone thinks their ideas are good :P), but it's been a while - tell me what's changed   /?

And guild cap, are we really down to 24 ???

These are basically for me ~ (if you are doing survey)

the Exp/Job is decent.. honestly anything around 100 and up, is good for me
also, the droprate of cards is most important.. should be lowest 1% (anything lower will be a waste of time)

more interested to WoE.. BG's reward should be really limited (to not affect WoE, because people love to WoE rarely have time to online because busy in real-life.. people doing BG should not have advantage to people purely love WoE for fair competition)

what things that keep me from even giving them a try..
normal card & mvp card's droprate.. if its too generic (normal lower than 1% & mvp card 0.1-or-something).. its 2017, people should be more creative. I also like mvp cards to be disabled in WoE, or nerfed to a certain degree.. (people will be interested to hunt then)

thats from me! a very good luck for your 99/70 server! Trans Server have wider range of possible creativity than 99/50.. you just need to be really creative in nerfing stuffs (1-Shot peoples make things boring).. most new online games balanced their pvp environment where you got to hit a few time to kill (and they didnt eat potions, because you cant  /heh ). Example? Dragon Nest's Compensation-On PvP!
Hiding your actual skills, require even higher level of skill to make it done.

To be honest the best is to not listen to your community at all, they won't be the ones playing your server.
Completely disregard their opinions, and just add custom stuff like wings or repeatable instances.
Make sure to not forget anti-zeny features. And preferably events that force people to do stuff in order for Main Town to not get blown up.
While at it make sure to make cash shop items only avaiable through donations even though they have impact on basic bg/woe gameplay, don't forget to tell they'll eventually be added through ingame quests (this is where you say soon for a month or 2).

P.s.: If you're really serious about it just pm me on discord. I'll make sure to give you a run down list of stuff to edit before even opening Beta aka, exploits.

Thanks darkomega, appreciate the input.   /no1

Develon, you are too funny  /heh   Be talking to you more on Discord   /lv

LOL  now we are trying to get a feel for quest stuff - do people prefer to do turn in quests or to do the run around, story, talk to npc style quests?

Recently I have seen some good experiments by midrate Exp combined with low like 5x only for normal drops and MVP and Miniboss cards default.
Though normal cards could be 0,5 to 1% depending if you work with Bubblegum.
It seems the balance of gameplay was much better on those servers since it wasn't that hard for average players to make progress compared to lowrate.
A higher droprate will change the meta much more as high Exp does so it did feel more close to original. I noticed a lot of lowrate players are searching and just can't find anything decent atm.

I would prefer the normal quest above turn in since it requires other ability's as just hunting and offers another way to play the game.

I played the old VisionRO and honestly it was fun. But also honestly it was boring. It was one of the early pioneers of quick 99/70 woe/bg servers, with the eAmod features. It didn't take long for people to complete everything they wanted to and then have nothing to do. in servers like that, you need to be constantly bringing in new players to replace the ones who got bored in left. so if your average play time before getting bored is 3 weeks, then every 3 weeks you would need to be bringing in new players to keep up.

First I want to thank you guys for the input.  We appreciate your taking time.    /lv

So now I pose the next question.  How do we keep you entertained yet make it easy enough that the players, who are older and have more responsibilities IRL, can still enjoy playing?

What can we add, change, modify, etc... that will make it interesting once you have maxed your character(s) and gotten your gear?

i already decided to play on your server

but when i 1st saw your server features these are the ones i kinda didnt like

1. the exp rates(150X)
its kinda high for me...it makes partying with other players a really retarded thing to do and kinda make the server less lively
but i get why its high... its a WOE/BG oriented server

2. MVP cards are disable for pvp and bg(for woe i get why it should be disable)
it makes a lot of mvps not worth hunting(hunting for mvp cards is like an endless end game)

but dont mind my opinion too much, i didnt like those things cuz i prefer low rate servers and like what Styx said most of the players looking for a server nowadays are low rate players and there isnt a decent low rate atm

Well, take a look at the original idea from developers regarding drop rate of Oridecon, Elunium. How fast you can max out your gears then? That might take years if there isn't a decarder or BG (public tooldealer) and so on. Where and how to reach the end stage is all in your own command, it might be harder to develop new things from there rather as bringing slowly what is already known. Extending the partygap  could be a good idea to give more freedom. The lvl 10 cap will work on 1500 pop servers but not on a 150 for instance.

Personally what I think RO needs right now is a higher-mid rate server (75/75/75~150/150/100) not these low-mid rate servers. It's 2017 and most of the RO players are adults and don't have time to play on these low-rated servers. I think this would be a good way to draw out veterans.

Also, a lot of problems with the servers that have been popping up is lack of custom content, and end-game content, that isn't game-altering to the point where it doesn't feel like RO (that's a matter of perspective, I suppose), or imbalanced/game breaking/bad to the economy in the long run.

Another really big thing is GMs used to be a lot more active and more tight-knit into the community. I rarely see GM held events on servers now days, whereas 10 years ago, there were GM held events almost every day on the big servers. I would try to hire staff that could make this happen.

I think a lot of these problems are due to the money making side of the game. Whether they admit it, or not, admins abuse donations to make money, and care less about the server, and it turns into a cash-grab scenario (happens, way too often, I'm sure you all know).  /hmm

Hope this helps, I haven't found a server that I have time to play on/worth playing on for a while, it'd be nice to have one!
