I'd have to say I hate kRO clone servers on kRO rates. I do love it when higher rate low-rates and mid-rates don't have job-changers, warpers, etc.

When you're grinding away at 2x, it's kinda nice to not have to be like, "oh darn, now I need to hunt this item that drops 0.3% of the time from the only monster that drops it and it's far away so I'll spend a million zenies on Kafra warps x.X

I exaggerate, but if you work for your levels, I don't think you should have to work for EVERYTHING...

But there's my opinion, which is probably different from a lot of peoples'.

Well some people like to feel the accomplishment of getting all there items the long and hard way because when you finally get it you feel good about it.

-MVP Room
-Donation Items
Define "customs" please. I have many, yet im not sure what you mean by that.
Custom headgears? Custom features? Custom @commands? @custom mobs? Custom job classes? Custom skills?

Do's

-Warper(If Theres a healer)
-Healer(If theres a warper)
-Headgear Quests
-Daily Events for Normal gears/Headgears
-Show gained exp
-Basic Commands(and autoloot)
Question, why do you want DIALY events for normal gears? Mainly on a low rate? Get free stuff everyday and not have to work for it? You shouldnt be on a low rate server if you have that in your mind.

Anyway, what i highlighted as green are the stuff i got on my server.
Well I'm talking about custom items. The ones that have uber stat boosts and effects. About the event, our halfway right Ill agree, but if you have a huge community I think it should work fine. Maybe once  a week or something.

There's a fine line between a feeling of "accomplishment" and "putting an end to the agony." The way Superja made his post,it would make you believe that the whole job-changing quest has gone beyond being a challenge to being an annoyance.

Of course, the actual line between frustration and challenging is hard to place down, as it varies depending on the tolerance of the player... and in korea you got Starcraft tournaments, so should it be a surprise that their MMORPG is also more on the side of frustration than challenge for most people?

I think it all depends on the player. Only some stuff is an annoyance for me, for example, the quest to get a detectives hat. That sucks. Alot of the other things depends on if you try too much or you try once in ahwile. If you overwork you will frustrate yourself. But if you have patience and wait for it, it feels nice.

If that is all someone deos to set up a server, then how did they give a damn? The only thing that decides if you should run a server is your ability to get a host? That is it? No coding knowledge required...just set it up and forget it and let the donation money roll in! Woohoo!

What I consider "giving a damn" is keeping the thing and the players updated, not just dropping in every week to see if the servers are still up. Amount of customs has nothing to do with it. Quite the opposite, I've seen a dozen servers with customs where the owners didn't give a damn at all. So you changed this and that - great, now tell the players, make a thread on the forum and a newspost on the site, keep a changelog for public viewing, if you advertised check if the ads are still accurate - that's giving a damn.

Having a dedicated host and getting donations are contradictions. By "have a dedicated host" I precisely mean that you will pay for it.

And coding knowledge? Of course you don't need it to run a server. That's what we have server emulators for in the first place, most options are already there, you just set the values you want. To modify the database you need to know scripting(Which is not "real" coding at all) which is easy as pie if you have half a brain and internet connection.

And coding knowledge? Of course you don't need it to run a server well.

Fixed.

And you wonder why 95% of servers are run by inept 16 year olds who tweak some settings in conf, add 273738392 custom items, then claim it to be some kind of revolutionary and ground-breaking concept.

they are then going to spread that rumor, and they also claim to have photographic evidence, as well as serveral player tesimonies as to you doing this
one of their goals is to have you, well i don't really know what they want to have happen to you but i can't imagen its all that nice
