I'm liking TOS so far, been playing since CBT1.

But they've made stupid changes that their steam rating went down.

Basically you can't do any trading unless you have token(VIP) activated..this wasn't the case during CBT. They'll probably change it soon, almost every review on steam and on their forum complains about it lol.

and about linearity, I think you have not played tos recently, there's a bunch of stuff to do that they added in, it's no longer just 1-2 quest lines anymore. Grinding here is pretty fun for completing your item collection to get bonus stats, etc

If there has been any slight impact my only thought is, "they'll be back" due to overall impressions of ToS 2 RO.
Currently playing on this wonderful server. ♥

But do realize. The game is world of warcraft with RO stlye music and art...

I been to the end game, its very boring. Boss fights are simple and easy. Teamwork does not exist aside from "cast ability at teammate every X seconds"
The only challenge is how long you can handle yourself from grinding out silver to use on "attributes"

Overall pretty, extremely, overwhelmingly... Disappointing.

Nothin captures that intense feeling of playing RO endgame, where you f*** up once and the whole party wipes before someone can even type lol.

What you don't realize is that you played an unfinished game (which is constantly updated as all mmorpgs are). Idk why you think your opinion is somehow relevant with the game as it is now (nor why you'd think a cbt would have any kind of endgame, much less difficulty in order to deter progress).

No matter how "beta" is it. Some facts will not change. There is a linear questing line where you get most of your exp from, there are instances provided as content throughout the level ranges. Skills are on a cool down bases, where you have to consider cool downs along with mana type resource.

The list just goes on.

I am not saying its a BAD game, just very different from the fundamentals of RO and caters to the "modern" type of gamers who is much more casual then the gamers of the past.

Eh, ToS isn't RO's spiritual successor. It was made by the same guy/team, sure, but the connection ends there.

Well, apart from the fact that if it's the same game designer it's more of a "successor" than a "spiritual successor", there is also the fact that the project name was "Project R1" where the R1 obviously refers to Ragnarok Online 1, not to mention that the designer said that with this game he wants to do everything he wanted to do in RO1 but couldn't because of technical limitations.

But yeah it was never really advertised like that, it's what the people said and thought when they saw the screenshots and heard who the designer is. The official blog even explicitly said that the game is completely unrelated to RO1.

Usually talking is crap...

Facts show this :
