people that try to buy everything with money tend to just fail when it comes to running social projects like RO.... theres only one or two people that only care about money and are managing to be successful owners / admins

anyway, my advice to you would be to open your own server with the same DB items etc, tell the players about it, and leave the old purchased server for good, theres no real need to stick around if you have an admin that is willing to sell out so easily

I mean, sure rich boy seems stupid for forking that much money, but the admin you speak of who comes online drunk and hands out items really seems no better, there are tonz of servers why work there for over 2 years..?

If only every GM had that sense of stubborn loyalty. This Admin should seriously be worshipping his staffers right now, because anybody with a lesser sense of duty and affinity for their server would have jumped ship.

first, we got less than 50 players ~~ its a little but i really like them except 1 person

because i have build up the server from the beginning and there are players which play on that server from the beginning and they are loyal to me and to the server
and i am that loyal to them and that server too so...

we always thought of leaving and making the same server again with the current gm team, we just needed a good reason
and now we have this reason

and we already looked for a new server place which doesnt cost that much
and when we get one we will make a new backup again and move everything and reset the old one and opening the new one with same name

we got homepage and forum already backuped


and then i will be the server owner, because yesterday i changed the paypals email to mine to recieve the money and save it for the new one.
i dun care about money, got enough and dont need one and if its needed i would spend my 40€ pocket money for that server Xx

just a friendly reminder ... make sure you change all the passwords to the access points of your site/forum/mysql/@gm and also ban the previous owner's admin on site/forum/server.

and if your server didn't hash the players' passwords, that could be a big problem and you have to deal with that before putting your server online.

Actually I don't see how the new owner is going to buy the server, it's ultra stupid to buy it now knowing the server has been "dubbed" a copy.  The current owner is ultra noob as well, telling you all this before banning you from all access is his biggest mistake and would likely cost him $4500USD.

On an alternative scenario:

If you were someone that would be interested in the money than moving the server for the people, you could ask for a share of the money or destroy the deal for the current owner.  You got the power because you got the same access as the current owner I suppose?  You can even offer to sell the server for a lower price (except the domain maybe ...) just to screwup the party for the current owner lol.

If the kid wants to waste his money on it, back up the entire server, make users change their emails and passwords, then give him the unbacked up version and remake the server.

Server owner wins $4500 and the kid loses $4500 to his own stupidity.

Well, considering the payment does go through (and in the situation you've said now, you'd recieve the payment) I would honestly keep it for your server, and when the payment does go through and you still have access, change root passwords / change details in files that he wouldn't figure out how to fix and remove everything that you've done.

You know, I honestly don't know why people pay such high prices for pservers, especially when it costs nothing to download eA and edit the files >_>

...he just purchased the hosting box. Not the SVN, the source, the SQL, nothing. Which means you could take his money and then wipe the box clean.

Wow..like Wow. Who would buy a RO server...seriously. From my experience its either given away to someone or closed. I mean, none of the work in RO is copyrighted, hence anyone has access to the product, buying such a thing is just plain stupid. Wellllllll Its not stupid if your a multi-millionaire and 4.5k is like pocket change for you =p. Ah ah, what has Rune Mijard come to XD.

Obviously the server owner is a fail to be bribed and controlled by a little swine such as the mentioned player.  Whatever the case,  you might want to conclude your decision with what you're going to do before someone leaks the info to either the Server Owner or the player.  They might take action if they know about this before you do.

By the way, I support you to become greedy and evil.  They obviously don't deserve it.

I'm telling you, all the owner has to do is copy the server over to a new server name, and let everyone know once he gets the money. Obviously no one wants the new owner.
