Best place to host a server?

You can't satisfy Asian players. This is a simple fact. Use a server based in Asia and they will still lag. This has nothing to do with location but all the more with connection quality. Take for example players from Japan or Korea. I've had some friends there who were getting the exact same latency I was getting from Europe. Yet countries like the Philippines and Malaysia were still lagging like crazy. This is because in Korea and Japan they have an awesome internet infrastructure. In countries like the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc they do not.

We have learned to settle somewhere in the middle, which is west coast USA. This has been most stable for players world wide.

Just did a traceroute on talonro and avid-ro, same host, same location, im happy about that, knowing the success talon has im happy to know the host im on will be stable.

Black Lotus is an OK host. If Asia's players can't be pleased, at least try to please Europeans and US players. I would imagine that East coast servers would be the best for that. Obviously, DDoS protection is of great importance as well, so don't neglect that. I have hosted with Black Lotus before and I will say that it's pretty good for US, Japan, and Korea. As mentioned, you're probably never going to have a low latency for those players located in Philippines and Malaysia areas.

So while Black Lotus is not bad for European's it's certainly not ideal for them. It really depends on your player base. If you have a lot of Europeans I would go for a DDoS protected service located in Zurich or at least East Coast US. If you want to please everyone at least a little bit, go for a West Coast server. It's generally acceptable for everyone outside the US, and great for those in the US. But Black Lotus > Staminus for West Coast servers.

True you can't satisfy Asian players and also some players say they lag but some doesn't (Asian net) but as one of the players in the SEA area. I NEVER lagged. So its on their connection or whatever the stuff on their computers. And in my view you it depends on the player on how they mean by the word lag. Some idiots are just you know. *runs*
