Oldest servers?

Just merely curiousity.  I know that LegendRO has been online since 2004, and GatheringRO has been online since 2005.  But are there any others that are older or equal to them in age?

Strudel

RebirthRO
XileRO
DarkRO (2006?)
aeRO (however they revamped and can be considered newish)
VanRo
LimitRo (2007)
TalonRO
just the few I know

Out of all those old servers, how many are still going strong?

I know BlackoutRO is still running (2006).

I'd say HeRO is one of the oldest as well.  Not sure about the year, it might be older than RMS or around the time when we just started that would be 2005-2006~

TalonRO was a part of Anima based on my memory.  It split out from there and Anima turned into Anthem later on.

my question is, have any of the really old servers addressed mvp card hoarding? lots of mvp cards tends to discourage new blood.

Technically, TalonRO indeed split off from AnimaRO and thus has a database since around 2005. Although the server itself has started in 2007.

Anima turned into AnthemRO which turned into AnimusRO which is now called AnesisRO. They also have a database as old as 2005.

Not sure if the other servers out there have had any wipes. You can't really call them old servers if they have wiped, which is basically just starting over from scratch.

From the listed servers, all I know is that heRO has never wiped.

^ that depend on how long the old people from 2005 sticks around or how "efficient" the transfer of wealth is done on the server.  Mvp cards could stuck in old accounts for players that never came back.  Isn't Lumina is getting ranted quite often nowaday for the "older-player-advantage" problem?  Can only think of this at the top of my head.  Imo, no solution other than wipe or if you are going to make an ever lasting server ... put a time limit on the big stuff?

Oh Animus is changing again?  Didn't know that until I check their site just now, where you got Anesis RO from?

Weird how nobody mentions EuphRO. Yeah, there's only a handful of players left there, but hey, it's still online. And afaik, there's been no wipes there whatsoever during the whole time they've been up.

or, you could make mvp cards much much easier to obtain, and weaken them so they can't break the server...

LegendRO has been around for a long time, and was awesome to play on a long time ago (not sure what its like now though).

I remember playing LegendRO back in 2008, but they were threatening a wipe (never did it though) so my friends and I moved to GatheringRO.  I've been stuck there ever since.  P:

I don't remember much of LegendRO, though.  I'd only just started and all I knew was that my character looked like a skank.  Yay dancer.

i was excited when you said something about aeRO because i was a player on that server and wanted to try it again...

... but if you're talking about the .org one, nevermind. it was a rip-off server that (successfully) attempted to steal most of the pinoy players and it "donate"-to-win system and the horrible community left me a bad impression of that server.

... but if it's not the .org one, can i ask a link of the site if that's okay? :>

Noble

oooh I miss AnthemRO so damn much, when I used to play there the community was great and I think the community is the thing keeping it alive. Sadly the economy fked up, bot oh well it's a damn old server.
About Lumina most of those rants are the result of an angry player banned for multiple reasons (at lest the recent rants/reviews). There are still some differences between old and new players but disabling boss cards in woe and bg helped a little.
I personally agree on a wipe in old servers but at the same time I realize it can cause several rage quits lol so I am never sure what kind of decisions would be good for an old server, because every action on the server requires some sort of balance.

Suggesting wipe on a low rate server after years is a bad idea generally (seeing that some of the oldest servers, in fact, are low rates). The vets who still might play there pretty much won't be doing so any longer after losing all the gears and characters they've gained during their stay. Not to mention - RO's an old game, so it won't attract a whole bunch of new faces to join and play it anymore. That'd translate into pretty much players fully gone and another dead server.

It's a whole different thing for servers with higher rates imho - I could gear my char with better then average gears within a week on a midrate because of the childishly easy rates.

However, when donations come into the picture it's a whole different ordeal - that is if you can actually get gears for donating, instead of items for looks only/consumables.

Okay, I'm done derailing the topic with my thoughts.

Indeed, wipes in general and especially on low rates are a bad idea and in most cases unnecessary. People spend hundreds of hours on a server. They want to be sure that if they leave for a month and come back that their hard work is still intact. Having a wipe makes you lose all the players' trust, which is what you need, especially on a low rate server.
