I remember that jRO had over 10k+ players in total of all its servers but i am not 100% sure, i've seen that info on this topic:

iRO has about 2000 players of which about 1800 are bots. True story.

ggwp

idRO have more player than jRO but total non bot player are less than number bots in Magmaring / Bradium Golem maps.
In those map you can find an entire full bot party less than 20 tile beside other full bot party.
True story.

Since I just logged on iRO classic yesterday, might as well provide the information here:
- 550 players
- when I played 2 years ago, almost every player I met was a bot (around 90%), but now it seems like only every second player, so let's just say 275 players / 275 bots

PhilO

I have never seen a bot.how do they behave?just static,or do they move around?

Playtester

Most of them are Thieves and they don't reply to you when you talk to them. They move around, usually attacking the nearest monsters or if no monster is in visible range they walk seemingly random.

Karuna-tan

fRO (european official which everyone seems to outright ignore) has around ~800 or so players, even more on WoE days.

800 PLAYERS? WHY ISNT THERE AN OFFICIAL SERVER THAT HAS POPULATION HIGHER THAN PRIVATE SERVERS? WTF

how's botting there?  minimal?
Super Smash Brothers 64!

Karuna-tan

Botting is almost non-existant, due to our GMs and CHs being pretty active every day.

There are, but those are asian servers pretty, like jRO and kRO.
"Howard, you do know I've got a number of ways to poison you. In your sleep. Your food. You don't want that to happen do you?"

Playtester

kRO doesn't have more than 1000 players either really. =p

But in Japan RO is still very popular. No wonder, all the changes on jRO are really good (the most annoying renewal mechanics removed, all imbalanced 3rd party skills removed, old exp system, still supporting all positive renewal features like quest log, world map, monster HP, markers, etc.).

Also I think the brasilian server (bRO) is pretty popular too?

And yeah while iRO has 2000 players on the renewal servers and euRO only has 800 players, I'm almost sure that euRO still has more legit players playing than iRO. If I didn't hate renewal so much I'd go for euRO for sure (but since I do hate it, I have to live with iRO classic).

Karuna-tan

jRO is basically your OP broken item playground where leveling is no effort. To put it simply.
"Howard, you do know I've got a number of ways to poison you. In your sleep. Your food. You don't want that to happen do you?"

Playtester

Not really. Leveling is much harder than on other RO servers because they use the pre-renewal exp table.

leokimah

It's because jRO doesn't have to deal with the gravity korean overlords to implement a large majority of their changes. I'm not sure how they pulled that off? In the end it makes the server much more community friendly.

Meanwhile iRO (warpportal) doesn't do much aside from a seasonal exp, hat quest or box gambling event here and there. They just do what they are told because it's less about the games health and more about making money. Hence why 90% of the server is bots.

Companies like Warpportal are disgusting.

Razer

iRO is boring, laggy and full of bots. The pay2win is disgusting. f2play Events are minimal. Most events are pay based events. They dont listen to suggestions yet for some odd reason they have suggestions and improvements area. The lack of offline vending in official RO is a big disappointment . That and the their refusal to find a solution end spammer bots in town.

PVE is dead because of the Grandpa Turn in quests. People only play the turn in maps. Playing regular maps is almost non existent since regular maps are full of bots. For example - the savage map has 40-50 bots at any given time. Reporting bots is difficult since the GMs makes you jump through a lot of E paperwork.

Shadow Chasers are too over powered with debuffs. RKs are one trick ponies in war - OP with tao card. The constant Bloody branches from pay boxes has resulted in a lot of MVP cards which is owned by the servers leet. Safe Certs, Enriched ores and gears designed to make people buy the first 2 get annoying.

I'd say iRO doesnt have more than 1000 individuals. Of which 400 play at any point. 1500+ farmer Bots, Spammer bots, Vendor bots and then Regular vends and dual clients.

Triper

jRO has their own version of RO since, if I remember it right, they own the RO trademark and Gravity? Something like that but I do know that they've their own license of RO where they can do whatever they want with it for years.

bRO is similar to iRO but probably a bit more ridiculous since, according to a friend, some people even pvp with pre-trans classes with MVP cards like swordmans with Taos, mages with hibrams, etc.

Karuna-tan

Yes, jRO owns over 50% of Gravity and is thus the one who gets to make calls about things implemented on their server and whatnot. As for leveling in there...

I'll talk about third classes now. On everywhere else, as far as I know, your job will be maxed out last. jRO? Yeeeeeah you can have job 45 and such before you're even close to 150 base! Not the case on the officials I have played on (iRO & fRO).

Also GX dealing 150k per hit on Bio 3/4 MVPs? Um yeah. No.

The only good thing jRO has going for itself are the costumes they make for looks. The rest I and many others from other servers have deemed OP'd BS.

Still remember the bRO player QQ because bRO selling Tao cheaply in cash shop (50$ IIRC) instantly breaking the server from that point which almost everyone running with Tao.

^ LOL

I jumped ship when iRO added a cash shop back in like 2007? It only got worse after that.

I am re fueling this topic ,because the info on it is now old.i wasnt sure if i should creat a new topic, or make use of this one. i thought it maybe interesting ,to be able to compare new info(if anyone gives me any) with old one.

So recently i came back wanting to play RO again, and ofcorse my first option was OriginsRO. but unfortunately i wasnt able to play there ,for technical reasons. my second option was a server called NovaRO ,which i quickly quit when i found out about this npc called "Gramps" ,that basicaly conditions your entire journey. i am not ok with that, so i left.

now i am stuck...there is Thor Server ,but their population seems a bit small. there is TalonRO ,but no way i am going there. so now i am thinking about the official servers.

i would realy appreciate it, if anyone could give me an update ,on the official servers current populations ,and give me advice on where it would be a good place, to play. even if its not an official server ,but some low rates server thats not on the ratemyserver list ,would be ok. i am ok with both renewal and pre renewal ,although i would prefer pre renewal.

I'm wondering if there is still a Thai official server or the populated ones posted here and there are all private servers. I've seen Thai RO videos get like 20k- 100k views in just a few days or a week.

yC

There was a new Thai official server opened just this July.  I think the previously licensed company closed the game and a new server licensed to a different company started shortly after.  This should be the website: https://ro.exe.in.th/main

PhilO

Unfortunately they ask for private information, on their registration. i am not ok with giving my phone number ,and ID.

You can choose your own way to level up, you don't have to do Gramps.

Back on topic, Ragial has the iRO populations listed here: https://ropd.info/?mode=spop
No idea how accurate it is though.
