Yes someone was hired to hack our site, and yes it did all happen while we were switching to a different host to remove the lag in-game (For anyone who wishes to know, we are switching to SoftLayers.) We do apologize to the community of JRO and anyone else who is interested in joining the server on its opening. We are still opening, the server files are intact. The only thing we just have to do is re-setup the forums and the main site.
We do know who it was and it's alright. Things happen. We won't be discouraged from that event, just more motivated to do better. It was a good thing this happened before the server opened because now we can prepare ourselves for the extent other servers will go through in order to bring you down.
To comment about the Trolls, the server is based on WoE, BG, and PvP. These are the breeding grounds for competitive players. While the staff and I try to control them, they cannot be completed limited in expressing their ideas. We apologize you felt hurt Yusifer from what was said in your suggestion topics, however you never reported the trolls. The IPB forums we use allows you to click on the report button so we can act faster. Theres only 3 GMs, and 200 of you. Not all post are considered trolls, and not all trolls are noticeable.
Let what happen to us be a wake up call for new servers out there. Make sure your host backs up all of your information, and ask them how to prevent hacking attempts to make sure your server prospers.
