Just-RO might have been the best for a little while until they added new donations that, in my opinion, became a little overpowering. It had a nice woe, it had a decent population for a midrate, it used to have balanced customs but now it's kinda going downhill.

Essence was good for awhile, but the community is getting bad, the GMs are kinda slow (but who can blame them, there's only 3 competent ones) and they aren't uptodate with the latest official stuff like WoE SE.

I liked Raije too, woe was fun and the community were so nice to me. ^^ Too bad the people I really wanted to play with moved on. :x

I like Raije because good friends used to play with still reside within the game - or, at least, a few of them. xD I'm assuming Kenkaru and Dakka still play there, anyway.

In terms of JustRO, a little incident within a now-locked thread in the suggestions thread made me frown. Nothing too bad, but enough to make me... wary? I'm a paranoid person. xD The community is pretty nice though. n_n

Essence's community is going bad only because they have far, far too many members. xD Which means the chance that you run into the jerks that ruin it increases considerably. As far as I was aware, most of the decent people do what they always do when they notice these people in higher numbers: made a series of semi-small guilds to collect as many good players that fit their style of friends as they can find.

I was thinking about joining Raije at one point too. But then I found out there are already people with crazily overupped stuff (like +9 tidals) and/or several miniboss/MvP cards. I don't like starting at server where I'd have to spend months with my laziness before getting equips to compete with the top. Same for EpiphanyRO, these servers have almost ideal layout for me...if either of them was wiped, I'd join for sure.

Hanyuu

I prefer the challenge, since with a midrate you actually can catch up to players who have been there for months. It only took me about four days of tough grinding to get 3 +10 tidals. I tend to stray away from places that have been wiped, since then it wouldnt be as fun or easy. Zeny (or tokkens/cards) makes the ro MR go around.

You aren't me :D I spend 2-5 hours at RO each day at most, with half of the time just sitting in town and chatting. So it would take me like four weeks, not days. If I would be lucky.

Aris

Lol dumb reason I M O.

Those people you start with on a new server will eventually get those gears so you'll be hunting for them also. Pretty much the same thing in the end.

+ getting +9 gears and crap is easy with 20X x_x.

Hanyuu

People who work harder deserve the gear they have, as opposed to people who dont work as hard. I'm a server hopper, I've joined so many well established and a lot of small servers too. Some were opened for months, and in a matter of a few days I was able to get my gear and compete with other top players of that server. For my first day I spent maybe 12 hours trying to get to know everything, then the next few days I only spend 2-6 hours getting ready for a woe or asking people to pvp me. Top players are the best for a reason. (unless they donate just to get evrything)

That's a matter of perspective. I join midrate server to be able to get in action within few weeks of lazy playing. When I have to work well over month to be competetive, I'd rather go to lowrate...

Also I don't like people saying they're top just because they have time to grind such gears.

Hanyuu

Well, even with only a few weeks of lazily playing and chatting, most people should be ready to woe within two weeks. Basic gear is sometimes good enough. Who really needs +9 tidals?

Top = best. You kinda dont get to be the best if you didnt put at least some effort into it.

...this thread is getting off-topic. I'm out.

This thread became an advertisement lol.

It wasn't to begin with? xD

Personal view of Mid-rates is a server for the slightly more casual experience who still wants something more traditional. I've got to say I prefer a mid-rate where you have to put some effort in your work. =P If it takes less than a month to obtain optimum gear, then it's not too fun. Then again, as Hanyuu says, by two weeks one should have enough basic equipment to be Woe-able. n_n

For me, the feel of a mid rate is somewhat easy, though you just need to burn a little amount of time to get what you want. I still prefer a high rate though.
