iRO in March
« on: Feb 25, 2011, 09:08 pm »
With iRO's plan to go full free to play in March, how many people are thinking of switching over? The small upfront fee will hopefully keep any bots on the current free Valk server, with the free to play aspect hopefully drawing more players.

My girlfriend and myself are certainly thinking about it, after having years of pserver wipes.

Anybody else been thinking about it?

Quote
Free 2 Play is coming in March. If you currently subscribe you will likely barely notice a difference except that more NPCs will have special things like buffs and quests for you. For Free players that are already playing you will notice that refining will work like it does on Ymir/Yggdrasil does. But otherwise little difference. If you are a free player who is new though you will be restricted in how many characters you can make, and likely how many free accounts you can open up at once. Certain quests will be available for premium members, free members who don't have a subscription could make a small kafra purchase to get permanent access to that quest. The premium account would lose access if subscription expired, but if the token was bought the access would become permanent with or without subscription.

I've honestly been playing iRO for the past month, on the Premiums, for me at least, the lag is awful.  I mean AWFUL.  I don't usually gripe much about lag but the lag spikes just annoy me while trying to level and whatnot.  I'll be playing it until I find a decent server to play on besides iRO.  I just can't honestly stand the lag.

Playing arabic RO but it lags bad so I might hop on iRO since it's gonna be free, but again... I've played it once and lagged as hell so if it hasn't changed then there's no reason for me to start. Although 500/600+ community on a low rate that is something crazy.

I was like cool, iRO is free now maybe I should try it, then I was like wait.. there are bots.. then I was like wait I'll play Ymir.. No bots! Then I was stopped saying "like" and thought to myself, half the zeny on Ymir has been farmed before valkyrie opened via bots so no.

Quoted from someone on a server's forums (as I remember how he typed it):

It's just another reason why people should start playing the official servers over the private servers.

Reasons why you shouldn't play private servers:
1) Private servers don't care about your account or donation information. (Never use your main email to register, don't donate to corrupt servers.)
2) Private servers don't last very long and they don't improve as time goes by. (%90 of all administrators DO NOT KNOW how to update their server, client, or database.)
3) Private servers mechanics and game play are broken on every private server. (Imbalance customizations and other modifications.)
4) Private servers lack production value and quality. (Inexperience programmers and an unproductive team. Lack of updates.)

Reason why you should play private servers:
1) The community (Drama)
- Only good if other players actually speak English.
2) The customizations (Fun)
- Only good until someone start abusing it.
3) The staff (Events)
- Only good until some anal GM goes insane.

“The winds of the king!”
“Look! The East is burning red!”

Biggest reason most servers don't last long anymore is this chain reaction imo:

"/" represents OR

Step 1 - Admin f*** up/bug exploit/something blows up/hacked/GM @items for ppl/better server comes up/no competition

Step 2 - People are like wait.. I've only spend like a hundred hours playing this server.... Why the hell am I still playing here? There are like 2-3 copy servers with 95% of the same settings as these and admins there need some donation love too.

On iRO

Step 1 - People load their client; they already know s*** is f*** up, they know the game is imbalanced, they know they are playing the worse "private server" when it comes to $ via the cash shop but guess what?

Step 2 - THEY DON'T GIVE A s***. When you've invested (literally) you're WHOLE life into getting MvP cards (at like .02), god items, billions of zeny (without @autoloot), and all that, they aren't gonna quit. Many of them quit when renewal came because it made a game that was pretty damn imbalanced to begin with even stupider. The ones that stayed at the hardcore south park world of warcraft type of people except worse because it's 50 times easier to get gear and level in WoW.

By the way if I was playing iRO, once renewal hit I would've quit 10000%. Renewal f*** up so much s*** like extended classes. You see star gladiators? People spent 20 BILLION zeny on a 1/1/1 no autoloot server to get a DraculaAKPhreeoni book to leech people in thors and DG, guess what? You can't uncard ^_^_^_^_^_^_^; in other words, hope that gravity fixes star gladiators which they never will, and even if they do; it'll take a year or longer to get the patch from kRO that they are fixed.

The only official server I'd like to play is euRO, but it's gone. frenchRO is the new EU server, but they can't do it right. Can't even translate stuff properly. Nowai I'd ever support such a dump. And yeah, there's renewal on iRO, nothxbye.

Im a little confused. You get to play on the main Ymir server if you pay a small 1 time fee, but you will not get the same benefits as people who are still playing the monthly fee correct? The page that tells the benefits confused me.
