iRO Cancels All WOE
« on: Oct 21, 2009, 08:24 pm »
Well, maybe some of you might be interested to know iRO (Gravity USA) was and is having lots of "technical" problems recently and was forced to cancel all WOEs until further notice. Well lots of things went all wrong after their last maintenance on Tuesday when their Halloween Event was launched. Sprite error from new headgears causing chaos during WOE, NPC exploited as they were buggy and giving away free "Lucky Boxes" (normally you have to buy them with real cash/kafra points), lag spikes when Halloween monsters/NPCs were summoned (massive lags in general as well) and they were trying to improve WOE when some unintentional WOE changes were made - you can't memo in front of castle which frustrated alot of paying players.

Must be some big boo boo to cancel All WOEs until further notice. As an alternate, iRO is offering daily WOE on iRO Sakray (test server) instead.

It was actually short-lived; the announcement was made in the middle of the week and WoE resumed the coming Saturday.

But you'll think that a professional company in which players paid for their service, can do better than this... and using valk as basically their 'test server' for premium was just low...

I do agree that it's pretty low that they use Valk like a Sakray server (I play on Valk personally). To be fair though it's been happening to the official kRO servers as well since it seems that Gravity's intentions are to try out some new structuring to better support the server for future updates (probably Renewal related). It's pretty retarded but Valkyrie currently has the conditions Gravity needed for such testing  :(

I heard it got canceled for the recall bug mainly. Some recallers were bugged so when they recalled it summoned guild at the last place they recalled, so you could go to a castles emp before woe started and "recall," and then when you recall when woe starts your guild spawns on that emp.

That's one of the bugs that has more or less always been there for quite some time, though if you get caught doing it you'll obviously be punished. For the pre-WoE one in particular, iRO did fiddle around with different options, including silently enabling WoE before it officially starts. If I recall correctly (lol) it's when that was disabled that the servers started experiencing more stress, correct me if I'm wrong. In more recent memory however, it's just Gravity pushing on stress tests on the server.

I would hardly call it an "event" but at least iRO is acknowledging it.
