Can someone give a tips how to prevent DDoS'ing the website and RO Server too, how to counter or mitigate it.

Usually the server would recognize the attack and ip ban or simply ban it for a specific time.
In the case of that not happening I believe that people in eA are most likely selling addons/mods that you can add to your server in order to prevent such things from happening, but I don't think you'll ever be 100% safe.
Especially if the attack is a ddos, dos would be preventable. since DDoS stands for distributed denial of service, which means there are a lot of other computers meaning a lot of other ip's involved. Usually your provider should also have kind of filter against that.
Anybody wanna disprove me? I'm not 100% sure but I think I'm close.

If you're getting this a lot, change host since their security tools are crap as their team of engineers.
Good hosts have good tools against this and if the tools fails there is most of the time good engineers on the back ready to kick the DDOS after some investigation of how the DDOSer works since most of them have a own style of working.

My host (Softlayer) has a "Cisco Guard" which is their system to protect DDoS attacks. It will filter harmful connections and let the rest pass to the server. However, that system is only a emergency feature they offer (24 hours). Obviously, if you want a permanent protection, it wont be without high expenses.
So no, there isn't any "real" solution (beside systems that private servers don't have the funds for), only methods to "help" your server to handle the attack. You cannot "block" it.

Would be good advice, if only people didn't DDOS to scare people away from their competition servers. Which is the reason 1/2 the time, the other 1/2 are whiney noobfag people who got banned and called up some mates to ruin others' days.
I've had similar troubles on my Lineage 2 server, I didn't piss anyone off, I guess it was the competition DDoS-ing me.
Anyways I found a cheap and stable ddos protection and havent had any problems since.
