I google lots and i ended up with more questions than before I googled.
Because the internet people aren't sure as well which is better, there are divided opinions.

The most often operating systems I heard to use for managing a game server is Centos or Debian or Ubuntu,
But which one is the best?  /pif

I preferred Ubuntu 18.04 or Debian 10.

Servers can run on Ubuntu but I don't know if they're as optimal as the other two. You'd be better off asking on the rathena or hercules forums.

The better question to ask is, "Why not use CentOS?"

I don't think I've ever come across a situation that can't be solved on CentoS, at least not in terms of running an RO server. It's very fast, efficient, and customizable. Your biggest hurdle may be learning commands and how to navigate the system if you've only ever used Windows on your home PC. There's loads of guides out there though and learning isn't too difficult.

tbh, it really doesn't matter, use whichever is least annoying to configure for your hardware and purpose.

if you're new to the game, then go with the easiest to configure.

to be fair, i've two production servers running centos 6 and 7 at work, but personally, i prefer gentoo, which I run 24/7 seed box for bakabt and git server for development.

both very very good. This question is not correct at all. It's like to ask: "we have Bugatti, Jaguar, Ferrari". Which car is better?
And as you see this is not correct question at all, because there are no specific questions like:
"which is faster, which is more stable, which is more cheaper in managing, etc". Even if we will ask such questions for cars, the answers will not be correct. Because each car is different, and we compare only same things (do benchmarks) for getting results.

The best GNU/Linux distribution is the one that you most comfortable and like.  /kis2
