Buying Character? Wat do u think about it?

I noticed that some servers permits trading of Characters/Accounts. So, player are free to advertise B> Stalker base99/job70/job50 for X million zeny. PM me plz. Trading of Characters/Accounts are mostly contained to 99 Non Trans or 85+ Trans. There 's been reports of players churning out pre-made characters in large scales by leeching them to 99 and selling them to meet the ever increasing demands. Characters/Accounts are normally traded for zenies, donation coins, rare items, other characters/accounts on the server and even characters/accounts on another unrelated server.

eh i think in general its sort of lazy.... but it brings new meaning to the term money can get you anything i don't really mind it a ton, its just really risky

i'd probably never buy a character that someone else has made, cause really thats taking the fun of leveling and hunting out of RO =/

off topic: there was this mmo, Tales of Pirates and there were a lot of ppl "selling" their characters for item mall stuff. i pity the noobs that fall for this (yes there were a buncha them) cause in that game you can actually lock your inventory and storage and it can only be unlocked w/ a personal code which you make before you create any chars. so basically all you got was a crappy lvl 50+ char (getting to 99 is nigh impossible for now) char w/ no access to your gears/items

No, and I'm glad they don't. Because as stated above, it's stupid.

It's more or less something that's hard to monitor. Forbidding it will only result in people doing illegal trades, which are nearly impossible to track. Personally I don't like account sales, but it's up to the players to decide if they want to do so. We do allow them on our server, but it's completely at the player's risk. If they get scammed, it's their problem and we won't recover their losses.

Furthermore, I don't really see why people would buy a character. On a High Rate it's easy enough to make a new one. On a Low Rate people usually play so they can actually build up their characters. Buying one completely takes away that charm of having built your "own" character. There's no fun in it =[

I think it's incredibly lazy of the person who's buying the character.

Yes, it's allowed, however, no one's sold or traded a character to another player, or sold their account to another player in the two years my server's been online.

No, but I sold about $500 in donation credit's worth while I played on AnimaRO. Lots of shiny 99/69 High Priests. Funtimes. :3

Lazy, but makes good real life money. 600-800 for a good WoW account with good equips takes a week or two. Plus, no grind xD

Nope. It's LAZY espcially in a high rate.

They're really just buying stress. They have a high level character that they dont know how to use, but with good gear hopefully, and they go to pvp. Owned for not knowing how to use their skills effiectly.

Not always the case.

For example, back in 2005, my iRO account was hacked and all my characters got deleted, so I bought an account with a character roughly the same level as mine (82/53 Stalker and I got a 80/50 one) so I pretty much had my old character back with some work needed to get it 100% like my old one, since the build was the same too.  It didn't cost much either, about $70 since the person was fed up of RO anyway.

And the reason why I bought that account is the same reason why many others buy theirs :/

I actually never played iRO (watched my ex play on his old account when they gave everyone a free week though), the only ones I've paid for were WoW, LotR and FFXI, each had awesome service where if you got hacked they'd replace whatever was lost free of charge. =\

1. I giggle snorted and no one saw. I feel sorry for the sap that pays money for what a few days of clicking can do.

2. No idea about "my server", but I don't think the administrator (if he/she/it even exists) would really care. I wouldn't either, really. People do what people do, stupid or not.

3. Sure, and tomorrow, I'll shoot myself in the foot. Because by the next day, I'll realize that if I want to be caused that much pain, I'd rather do it to myself.
