"Voting" sites.

"Voting" sites. I am so absolutely tired of them.

Today's date is August 3rd, 2008.

In 3 days, the following server has obtained a ridiculously high amount of votes.

http://www.gamesites200.com/ragnarok/

Revolution BR 2.0 - Ragnarok Server
+1300 Players ON, Anti-Bot, No Lag, 24h/7, Exclusive panel, Quests Customs. [Low - No Donate][15/15/10x] [1k/1k/100x] [3k/3k/300x]

Result after 3 days - 18244 in - 14723 out.

A peek at their server's site shows the following....

There are 3 servers.

Server 1 is nonexistent, all three elements of the server(Map/Login/Char) are offline.

Server 2 is online, showing 157 players.

Server 3 is online, showing 55 players.

So, either I'm completely blind and roughly 3040 votes have come in each day, or something's incredibly fishy here. This is absolute garbage. My community, whilst small, continues to vote twice daily, but lo and behold, we get surpassed by proxy voters, cheaters, and "GOLD MEMBERS".

I'd like to know your opinions on voting sites. Just how "fair" are they?

Sites without registration/captcha are a joke.
Sites with registration/captcha are as fair as your average joe, which is not very.

Hmm... New stuff.
That's the main reason I just search websites in 150~200, they are the only one fairs that I know that the GM isn't a total retards.
Hmm... I looked at it, the first had 600 players, second 180, third 66, since 200 in 600 are auto traders, there isn't any chance that they can get so much votes in a little time.
Something else that made me seriously rage it's that they are using Commisioned Artwork, while they don't have permission, I believe that is agaisn't the law.

TL;DR: Follow the rules if you want, nobody is forced to do it so.

Gamesites 200 is rigged though. A server owner can get in contact with the site owner and arrange a deal, and they use their own bots to vote...

Do not blindly reply to seeker topic without explaining why your server fits the original poster.
== No repeating post of the same content in your recommendation.

Also, the big text and picture is really not necessary.  You just have to tell them why your server meet their needs.

None of the voting sites do a thing about cheating. You can reward your players all you like or spam votes all you like, they won't do a thing about it.

Indeed voting site are a joke. RMS is not perfect but it's much better by far.
heRO is a great friendly, sociable yet WoE active, unique and fun server of 5/5/3 rates with 400+ players, give it a try!

I'll agree that their site is very well-made. However, the point is that these morons don't have the amount of players necessary to generate that high of a vote count.

I clicked "contact us" on GS Top 200 and sent them an e-mail going into detail the player counts versus votes.

If CorrosiveRO disappears from their ranking for seemingly no reason, guess I'll know why.

I've emailed the site owners on numerous occasions for various matters and have never recieved a reply.

Funnily enough the tRO listing manages to magically disappear every time we've set it up.

We ended up just ignoring it entirely, I'd advise you do the same.
Impossible is nothing..

what are Gold Members?
basically you slap some more money in front of them and they'll let you add a banner

or do you mean the secret gold members were they'll let you remove other servers and give you large sums of "votes" all for a price?

Voting sites are...fair. But greed > human. So its server owners fault that they slap money in front of the site owner since...why must you waste more money for some votes which doesn't guarantee any players for you?

Moral of the story, greed is good. And play fair.

P.S: Greed! > Human [1m]
