i suggest you to use fraps, its nice tool for Recording.
or use Client RO Recording tool if you use 2013 ++ Hexed Client

Better performance management, multi disc writing, open for almost every codec.
Speaking of codecs, use lagarith lossless codec for recording and editing. Codecs make a huge different in your perfomance and some other use 2x more bandwith for the same (or lower) quality.

I use fraps personnaly but my actual server got a record function, so I use it during the woe and I record the replay with fraps after, with that method I don't have any lag during my woe.
