I was wondering the same thing, that would be a REALLY cool project if it's still being worked on.

The space-ro was a summer project I had started.
Once school started I just didn't have time for it anymore. And unfortunately I have a short attention span so I lost interest in it.

I would have picked it up again when OpenRO was completed but since that seems to be dead too there really isn't a future for it.
Though I might just start making mod packages with a space theme.
