Hero & Rank System

I have been working on a Hero and Ranking system. I'm using an older script I found and rebuilding it all, atm I have this scripted out and added to my server. The thing is I need more input on what to add with it and what to change etc. I've never played a Server with a hero system, tho I know there is a few out there with it. So if anyone would mind posting some ideas that would help me with this. I've asked my players but my player base is still low and growing so there is only so much I can ask from them.


Some more info about it.

When logging in the player can go to Prontera and talk to the Hero Npc, The player is then asked which hero he wishes to become, After which the player will go on leveling and getting gear.. etc and gain Fame at the same time, There is a Shop with items you can buy with Fame Points. I will be adding a copy of prontera's castle map and using it as my hero castle. Which will be where I'll have the quest and other shops for the different ranks and different hero. I have made different sets of items for them as well, nothing big or over doing it there just like the main items just they get better with the higher rank you become. Meaning the higher your rank is the better the items are in the shops. The Quest, I'm not sure on what to make or use. I was thinking about making custom monsters to go with the different heros.  

Heros:
Selfless Hero
Deadly Hero
Renowned Hero
Legendary Hero (Can't Upgrade / Become - yet)
Bountiful Hero (Can't Upgrade / Become - yet)

Ranks:
Cost & Rank
250 Fame - Rank 1
750 Fame - Rank 2
1300 Fame - Rank 3
2000 Fame - Rank 4
3300 Fame - Rank 5
5000 Fame - Rank 6

Rank Upgrading Npc

Selfless Hero
When a Selfless Hero kills 10 monsters  that are with in 10 levels of them self or does 5 Quest, they get 1 fame point.
If they kill another player they lose 1 fame point. When a Selfless Hero dies more then 5 times they will lose 1 fame point.

Deadly Hero
When a Deadly Hero kills 30 monsters that are with in 10 levels of them self or does 5 Quest, they get 1 fame point.
If a Deadly Hero kills 10 players they get 1 fame point. When a Deadly Hero dies they will lose 1 fame point.

Renowned Hero
When a Renowned Hero , Kills 10 Mvps or does 5 Quest they Gain 1 Fame Point. They don't lose there Fame when dieing or killing other players. But they don't gain fame from everything, Only MVPS & Quest.

In the Hero npc there is a way for players to change Heros as well , But in doing so they reset there Rank / Kills / Deaths / Fame and Hero.

EDIT: I'm going to be taking a little break on this. My wife is almost ready to have our 2nd son so I need to spend some time with her and help her with the baby. Until I can come back to this. I have uploaded what I got done so far to my own hosting site. Anyone is welcome to  use / change / mod or w/e. Just please give me and Temperis credit if you do.

these kinds of systems goes to RP typed servers, it fits there better IMO

it's a good concept, but with a low population, the script's not gonna even trigger a flicker.

1 thing tho, if i'm a player, i won't like the part where you gotta have 2 characters in the same account to gain a rank.

This isn't something for eveyone, I know this. I'm not asking people to review it or even to like it. Was just asking for input on the system its self. To help make it better.

With the Legendary Hero , It hasn't been started yet and I'm not sure what I would like to do with it. This is why I came here to ask for input on it. Idk if I would want to have to do this as a player but the idea behind it isn't that bad.

The server isn't based off this system its just an addon to it , But I'm not here to talk about my server. I would like it if we stay on topic.

How about some kind of custom skills? (bare in mind I haven't played RO for the longest time) but maybe each hero gets some upgrade to their current skills or some custom skill all together when they get a certain amount of points.

You could also make some cool quests where you need a team of all kind of heros to complete a certain quests which will reward every hero with something.

P.S nice idea trying to be different from a stock eA server is always a plus thing don't give up on uniqueness =)

The only thing with doing a Custom Skill is having to go in and script the skill in the src which can be hard if your not good at C++ , Not only that if not done right it can open up a lot of loop holes or unbalance things. Keeping in mind I plan on releasing this after its done. I would like to stay away from the src as much as I can which this. Now adding in a skill renting script as in, a player can rent other class skillz for a time and a cost. Like the rental boxs. Could be fun to see , never seen it on a server before. I plan on making Quest for the heros, Just not sure what to do in the quest. This addon is something that is going to take some revamping a few times before its done I think.


Would it be better to have it where, The players can pick there hero later down the road or when they login? I know not a lot of player read the main site , or the forums. So some of them might not understand which hero is right for there game play.

This. Even if the system doesn't seem to have a lot of potential in the description, nobody can really fault him for trying to add some dynamic traits to break the monotony a bit.

I think people will sit there and start farming porings to get their massive amounts of kills to become a hero.

Yes , I was thinking the same with fame farming , I have it in my rules not to, But like every rule. It will get broke at some time.
But this is true of any system or script of this kind, If there is a way the players will find it out, just takes time. This is also why I have the fame set so high and having to kill 120 monsters for the selfless hero etc ... to make it where if they are going to farm it , its not something that can be done over night. This is also why there is ways of losing fame points.

Compare the levels between player and mob and only add points, if the player is near the level of the mob.

Wouldn't there be many inactive players who qualify for the lowest fame rank (fame of 0)?

Are you going to allow the fame to go negative, so players who die the most or, PvP AND die the most get that special recognition?

Yes players can get negative fame. the ideal was to also have something that went with that.
