Title: desu.grf
Post by: meaman654 on Apr 07, 2018, 04:00 AM
WARNING: This GRF contains NSFW contents , I wasn't able to check/remove everything that I placed in this grf that contained stupid edits since there were a lot of them. Use the grf at your own risk.

DISCLAIMER: This GRF mainly works on pre-renewal servers/clients. All of the softwares and the grf that I based on this grf will be referenced at the bottom of this post. I was not the only one who made this grf as a lot of my friends gave feedbacks and shared some of their grf works. I also expect that the people whom asked for this has at least knowledge of grf editing, as this is NOT just an edit in the data.ini file of your server your playing.

NOTE: This grf is suited to my friends' and my prefrences. A lof of them sugested a lot of good stuff so I added em here, including autistic ones. For this grf to work in full in the server you're playing with, you'd have to learn how to edit lua files which will be posted below. Download link for the grf will be posted below as well

This goes without saying but, feel free to rip out things that you might like in this grf.

Hello and my name is Asynchr0ny (meaman654 is my username) and today I'm sharing a grf that I made over the years. I've been getting a lot of private messages with questions from this thread (http://forum.ratemyserver.net/modification-sprite-and-tool-discussion/changing-lhz-mvp-sprite/). And a lot of those people also asked if I can share my grf to them, and I've always responded: "uhh this contains a LOT of stupid and inappropriate content, I will release one that doesn't have these stuff at a later date. I might leave some for the kicks though.".  And here it is.

This grf is mainly based of ebosher.grf, as this is a grf intended for PvM/MVPing. Although some features might be usable in a PvP environment. There's not much of a difference of the concept from ebosher but nevertheless I did a lot of tweaking. Here are some of the notable edits

> Larger MVPs and selected mobs
   >Fixed Orc Hero sprite (Credits to Tsofli)
   >Bio 3 MVP Differentiation (opacity set to default) and enlargement
   >Bio 3 MVP sizes are optimized not to brood over the ice wall sprites when trapping
   >added MVPs that were not enlarged in ebosher (a lot came from Tsofli as well)
   >Skeggiold Boss is enlarged for easy targeting

Note: As mentioned above, You'd have to edit the servers lua/lub files for the bio 3 MVPs and skegg edits work. Below is a  guide on how to make desu.grf work in full.

How to fully use desu
By the way, Skeggiold boss and Ygnizem is edited in the same way (they employ the same concepts to work) . Skegg is SKEGGIOLD_ and SKEGGIOLD, my files edits the slaves so the target file should be G_SKEGGIOLD_ and G_SKEGGIOLD; Ygnizem jobname is B_YGNIZEM.

FAQs
1. Why desu?
Because it needs more desu
2. Will you be making a WoE edition?
eh, probably not. If I get interested to WoE again, then maybe.
3. Can you teach me how to edit grfs?
4. I couldn't edit the jobname.lua/lub file, will the grf still work?
Yes, but the bio 3, Skeggiold Ygnizem etc edits won't work.

5. I ripped out a new jobname.lua/lub file from a data.grf from the latest kRO, surely this will work better right?

Highly unlikely, as some servers add custom mobs, having them add different mob names, as desu will overwrite the server's jobname.lua/lub file, the client will be unable to read the custom
          mobs and thereby causing crashes/errors.
6. Why won't you reply in discord even though you're online there for 24/7?

I use Discord other than gaming. I've encouraged some of my colleagues in med school to use it instead of Messenger, Viber or any other means of communication that has a hook on social media. I'm also a part of a niche micro community on health related issues, med school stuff, notes etc in my country and we use Discord for it.

7. I thought there was gonna be an update for this?

I thought so too as well but I've been very busy. If you read FAQ #6, I'm in med school currently in my 2nd year and s***'s been hectic as f***. I also have my old rig (PC) broke so I still have to scavange some of my grf files in there. I even lost this one ;_;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygfIioikxqU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygfIioikxqU)

So, apologies for the delay and delayed it will be for long.

8.Do you do paid services?

No. hedoesitforfree.png

9.How can I support you?

Keep on s*** in the RO community I guess. Keep the game alive even though it's dead.

I don't inclined on having monetary compensation on the things I've had fun making (even my youtube channel is located in Afganistan so I don't get s*** ads/monetization) and I also got them all for free. Since my predecessors (Bleu, Tripper, Zerges daddy and etc. made detailed explanation on how grf editing done.

10. Did you or will you stop playing RO?

I'm on and off. When I'm not too busy I play in some s*** server. I can't really dedicate time to play for long (like camping MVPs and stuff) since real life gets in the way all the time.

I've been playing this game for over a decade. Whether it be times of happiness, chaos, peace, and even if the world is ending, even if Corona-chan is gonna rape us all, and in the future where I become some physician in some hospital, become an old fart. I'll still f*** play this game.

Acknowledgments
> Tsofli played a huge part in the making of this, he helped me in the bio 3 MVP editing and various stuff.
> Some of the icons were from a grf from a friend of mine named Spade, I asked him if he could tell me who made the icons but to no avail. So whoever made those,

Thank you.

I also wrote guide quite a while ago (almost 10 years, lol), prefixed it "Creative Editing" (http://forum.ratemyserver.net/guides/creative-editing-renaming-skills), and was acknowledged by bleu, so I believe it's OK.

Good guide. I am gonna steal some sprites :P

Hi! Thanks for sharing this. I'd like to know if is it possible to make Asura number more visible? Yellow or bigger, maybe... I've been researching but I got no clue on this... and I really have a hard time reading the number on screen.

As far as right now, I have little knowledge on TGA. I have an assumption that clients read the Asura TGA files as black and white only. Though I'm not that sure.

Coincidentally, my friend asked me if we could replace the Asura with "Plus Ultra" (in reference to Boku No Hero). I haven't really played with TGA files that much, other than completely removing the effect itself. I think this is a good reference to start https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuouwReR_F8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuouwReR_F8) . I might go over this tomorrow or next week. I'll keep posted of whatever I'll see when editing.

Hi! Thanks for sharing this. I'd like to know if is it possible to make Asura number more visible? Yellow or bigger, maybe... I've been researching but I got no clue on this... and I really have a hard time reading the number on screen.

I had 2 ideas on this:

1. Make the Asura Symbols with a lessen opacity.
   >Unfortunately, I lost my copy of my Photoshop and I'm working in a crappy PC so I couldn't test it out
2. Make the numbers bigger than they usually are. These were done in exii.grf although it's a bit different (Where the damage numbers are smaller and had more space than they usually have). All you have to do is Magnify the numbers using Act Editor.

Also don't Magnify too much as this might happen
(https://s7.postimg.cc/7g99o63vf/image.jpg)

I compared the edited files as well. Not much of a difference in size.

Normal Number Sprite (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XZ7-bA68dw) vs. Edited Number Sprite (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHz6ijFQ5T8)

Finally, you should not take these results as absolute as there maybe a way to edit this in a different way. In my head, I think we can achieve this by editing the .act and .spr file in its entirety. But that's a bit of a stretch for me.

I'll leave this here for your reference.

Fully erect Hodes, a lot of naked mobs (gender bent), profanity in Scream and Frost Joke texts, and a lot of autism. Most, if not all of them were removed.

For what it's worth here are some samples. They are mildly inappropriate but Admin, feel free to remove these if they're inappropriate.

Not sure, I've never really played much renewal so it's not tested that well. Someone did PM me about it in discord, it worked but some sprites don't work there, he said he encountered some minor errors as well. Though that may vary of how much customization was done in the server regardless if its pre-renewal or renewal.

The problem is, there is still stock lua files in the original post.

If you know basic grf editing, just delete all of the textures I made, this will restore the effects of the server.

I extracted the jobname.lub file, changed the file then repacked it back into the grf. Nothing is changing when I do this. I even tried testing turning orc lord into bapho n such.

The file is in a few locations inside the restart data grf but only one of them looks like the one in the guide so I edited it. Is there something I'm missing?

I have no idea how things work in a Re:start server. Assuming that they do work the same as any other server, everything should go smooth (changing priorities in the data.ini, files can be merged in the data.grf etc). Unless they've done something to the client that sets the server grf as the hard priority, then you'll be limited to map and mob changes (lua files won't work). Again, I have no idea on restart servers, nor do I take interest on playing in one. There are some servers I played that have no data.ini or forces clients to read a default grf but they can be bypassed by hexing and other methods.

I am not using a data.ini file or anything.  I extracted the file from data.grf, edited it and put it back in the grf. It just isn't changing anything when i do this.  There are multiple files:

The bottom highlighted one looks like the one from your tutorial, so i edited it accordingly, put the sprites i wanted to use in(just larger versions of originals that i magnified the act file on) put it back in the grf and saved it.  Nothing changes.  I even tried basic stuff like turning a poring into other things and nothing worked.

The other files all come up as gibberish in notepad and can't really be edited.
Title: Re: desu.grf
Post by: meaman654 on Sep 02, 2018, 05:52 PM
Usually, the jobname file that's being used by a server is in the servername.grf (Example: YrvineRO.grf) not in the data.grf. If it is different, and by that I mean not the usual thing in pre-re where the data.grf and server.grf are visible in the RO folder, then you have to see things on your own.  I skimmed through some Revo Classic threads in rAthena and I think they might have something to help you with.

Knowing that you see "gibberish" means the files are encrypted. You can't really edit lua files when they're like that. You need to decrypt them.

On another note, if there is only the data.grf... Try merging desu.grf in to the data.grf and see the results in game (You're gonna encounter errors for sure but hey, that's a good thing) Don't forget to back the data.grf file.

Someone PM'd me about it. He got the grf worked in an official server. Though you'd have to do other stuff to get it to work.

Just to be clear, I don't play in official servers nowadays. So I don't really have much grounds on how the grf is gonna play out in an official server.

Hi!

This is really good. Can I use this in LimitRO? There is no Data.ini in the client though. I tried merging the grf with data.grf but still no effect.

Can you help me please? /sob

It's probably because they have a gepard.grf which is (should I say) incorporated in the client. Regardless of the presence/absence of a data.ini file (gepard.grf will not be listed there), the file reading will automatically make gepard.grf as:
0=gepard.grf
1=xxx.grf
2=yyy.grf
3=zzz.grf

This is to prevent grf modifications. I saw this a while back in a WoE server. It's to prevent enlargement of essential characters like Clowns and Snipers etc. (titan.grf) for easy target. Though recently, mobs, lua file and etc. have been included. Your server admin probably payed for a package that disables mob modifications.

Even if you did "succeeded" in modifying, you'll encounter an error once you encounter the edited mob in game :

Although there are still modifications that will still work i.e the aesthetics (effects and custom bars). You can see that there are still some mobs that are not listed/modified (Skeggies/Devilling/Angeling etc). It's because they're still not included in the gepard.grf yet... They will be added soon I guess.
Spoiler
I bet Functor got lazy in making this (inb4 he uses the entire data.grf in to the gepard.grf)

Nothing we can do about it, for now. What you can do is ask Lai to enable grf mods.

Emperium or any other s*** related to WOE is none of my expertise. The topic at hand is also unrelated to your question since Desu is mainly a PVM grf. I've already answered a closely similar question in this thread. But for what it's worth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbMaPDtGJHE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbMaPDtGJHE)

Good luck making it work on a server that has gepard.

Updated the first post FAQ part. Please read the FAQ.

Also, thanks for nothing Kolby. You PM'd me about my thread getting bumped while you could have replied to it by your self.

P.S. "Unrelated" matters in the first post pertain to "do you have working AHK on X server?" "You have xrag?" "You have cheat tools?"
Server invitations are okay. But sending your s*** grf and sprites and stupid edits that make me laugh because we have the same autism is MOST welcomed.

hello, i'm new to this grf editing stuff - i've been tring to follow your instructions but everytime i try to extract jobname.lub and open it with a note pad, the file seems corrupt.
also using grf editor, it prompts for a key and the filename are colored yellowish - I'm thinking that the .grf files could be encrypted? But I have asked the GMs from the game and they said it was allowed and i've seen few people targeting biolab MVP easily so they must be using it somehow.

I have tried looking at both server.grf and data.grf, they both seem encrypted. Does that mean I can't do any of these awesome stuff at all?

I'm playing this server by the way: http://blackout-ro.net/ (http://blackout-ro.net/)

Thanks so much!

actually, i just got it to work without the lub file.

The problem is that i need the LHZ update for the Biolab MVPs, I need to be able to see them clearly and click fast.

When i open my jobname.lub file it's not similar to the instructions and i can't seem to figure where to add MVP here.

Would be great if you can expound more on your problem. A screenshot might help a lot. Regarding other options... Dunno.. Ask in rAthena.

I ordered a hard drive enclosure for my dead machine's hard drive. Will post it here as soon as I salvage the file. And I will send you the nsfw sprites as well via PM.

Honestly, Kolby should be paid for notifying me. He PMs me through Steam of all places.

I finally got the enclosure that I needed (took a while since it came from China). I found the sprites but I couldn't find the grf that I compiled it with. I probably deleted it since I most likely compiled it with some s*** named grf i.e. (desu, suigintou, akari etc) and I delete them since there are already files that have multiple names. I feel so dejected since I put a lot of effort aligning the heads and fixing stuff on it to work as I intended it to be (it even had a bukake finish when the mob/mvp dies).

nevertheless, here'r the sprites for it. https://files.catbox.moe/ewp7w1.zip

You can replace the Magaleta and Katrinn sprites with those but their heads are gonna be misaligned so you need to fix things for it to work beautifully.

I got these sprites from a Japanese RO spriting site posted on either /a/ or /jp/ . Some anon compiled it with the lewds. Other files were from some shady server called Snow Ragnarok Online but I doubt that they just ripped some s*** out from Porn RO/Ecchi RO or from that Japanese site which I don't remember.  If you're interested on the files I can send them via PM since they're nsfw.

Download this GRF and edit your DATA.ini to ensure it reads it first (before other grfs) http://www.mediafire.com/file/r2ia0n81ra6nl71/No_Hats.grf (http://www.mediafire.com/file/r2ia0n81ra6nl71/No_Hats.grf)

On top of that, when I tried to edit the bio3 MVPs it corrupted my files and I couldnt start the game. Awesome
