run patchers if you still can patch, sprite errors means you are missing some files, it could be files that are latest to RO or files that are latest to your server.
try running ragnarok.exe, sakray.exe and/or <your server name's patcher>.exe , once at a time, wait for it to process, it might take a while but as long as they are downloading stuff it should be good
if your client is too old, then they won't patch and that means it's time for you to look for a later version client
rename/delete your Data folder
laec, he never mentioned anything about a private server. Even then, alot of private servers clients ignore the data folder right?

That doesnt help us much. You're better off consulting the support boards of the server.
