Failed to Connect
« on: Oct 21, 2009, 01:12 pm »
Hi, I'm having issues connect to the RMS Test server.

I recently downloaded all the files (updated sakray/sdata.grf and RMS' client) listed on the website, created the data directory and added the sclientinfo.xml file. When I run the client, it loads fine, however after I try to log in, it always waits a while then says "Failed to connect to server".

I tried re-registering using the "_m/_f" method, but that didn't work. I even got a working folder from someone else whose connection was all right.

Before I continue I should mention that I'm running Windows 7 with 2 gb of RAM and an ATI Express video card. I used to run Windows XP with 512 mb of RAM and the same video card. I also tried running the client in compatibility mode as XP SP3 and as an administrator and that didn't help. I am also sure that my ports are forwarded and my firewall isn't preventing RO from connecting. Any ideas?

I couldn't log on to the kazze10 account.

Quick update:

I tried running a tracert and pinging the server (69.197.158.197) and all my requests timed out. I'm unsure if the server allows pinging, which is likely, but if not it may be another symptom. I've also updated my video card and graphics to no avail.

This seems to be on your end of the connection, though..

were you able to play other ro with windows 7?  I heard at least one person said (his) RO don't work in windows 7, i have no idea if it's his problem or windows'.

Okay. I connected to a different network and got a ping reply. However, I still can't connect to the server with any log-in. I tried using my folder on two different computers and it didn't work either, so I'm thinking there's a problem with one of my files. I'm going to try with an sdata.grf that I know works and post the results here in a bit. As for Windows 7 I recently got it and never experimented with RO on the system before. I have heard that Gameguard and other protection software like that doesn't work with it, but I don't know if the Test Server uses those applications.

Hum, afaik test server doesn't use gameguard or w/e.

what client are you using though, kro sak or renewal?

The client I was using was the client downloadable from the website (I assume a kRO sakray client). However, I did download the Ragnarok Renewal server and patched that one.

Rename the data.grf from ragnarok renewal to sdata.grf and try again.
