CLient works, connects, freezes...
« on: Nov 08, 2008, 05:04 pm »
Funny thing is I can still input commands, add stat points, skills, etc, but this all will not show until I close the client and restart the game.

Examples are I can use the @commands (like @go, etc) and the result WILL work and show up when I reenter the game, but nothing happens onscreen while I am there. Sometimes I can see other people running around and stuff,

Only thing I can think of is that I am not receiving any data from the server after I have connected, but I can still send data back. No it is not a firewall issue(tried with both on or off, same result)

You may want to try to ping and tracert the server to find out how your connection to the server is.

To ping, you go to
Start Menu > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt
In Command Prompt, type in: ping <insert IP of server>
It should give you some information, including time in ms. If it's over 150, then it's generally regarded as a bad connection. If it takes a while, you may want to try the tracert.

To tracert, you open up Command Prompt again. You type: tracert <insert IP of server>
It should give you a list of connections which you pass through when you connect to the server, and how long it takes. This means, you can find out where the lag is occurring or if something is blocking your connection.
Don't worry, be happy =(

that sounds like me when being throttled, maybe your ISP is like mine who will give you a s*** line when you have P2P program (bit torrent) running in general.

None of that is the problem, but appreciate the help.

I did pin down WHEN it happens, and it only happens with the sage class(or proff)
It freezes up just as I got the pre requisites for hindsight(auto cast - when i get lv 4 freecast the game 'locks' up but i can still click on skills, click on the ground, click and drag items, etc etc, NOTHING shows/displays when i do this, but when I relog anything I have done is done ingame(skills/stats are spent, items dropped on ground, i moved to the cell i clicked on, etc) but from the moment i log in, nothing displays(no skills, items, etc)

When I do the same thing but avoid getting any autocast(or even up to lv 3) the game runs fine.

I hope this helps.
