Think you missunderstood it completely. In my first sentence I said that Shilo has always been eager to make TotalRO a good server, the server also has a good reputation, hence why she won't fall under the category of those servers that seem shady. However I was hoping she would reply soon so she doesn't fall into this category for topic opener/others who read this topic, because she's way to nice for that. Was never my intention to make Shilo look bad, she's a friend/old customer of mine since years by now - jeez.
You're fine dude, I'm just defending what I have experienced personally.
I went on a town map that had less people on it and had quick access to storage/warper. Lighthalzen was the only map that met my needs. Usually I do Hugel but the cool guy kafra corp was removed. Shilo actually thought it was a "nice tactic" of using warp portal. I told him I figured it wasn't against the rules, considering the whole no "buffs" thing HC had going on and Warp Portal circumvents that. I even asked Shilo if she wanted me to stop using it and she said it was fine, of which I also told you in-game. Here's a screenshot.
It's funny how my win is considered illegitimate when the admin says it was fine and I only warped to a location I liked killing mobs on. I even stopped using it before I reborned but regardless, should Shilo have said, Nah, not legitimate, I would have just restarted my character. She confronted me when I was 92? And the next best person was 80? I would have had no gripes of getting back to where I was. So, your issue with me using Warp Portal for what amounts to around 11 levels when I got the full 1 to 99/70 trans without it just seems to stem from jealousy.
Edit: Fully read your post now. The whole "hide" aspect. No. If I wanted to hide it, I probably would have saved at an inn and used zeny as to clearly make sure I would never get caught. I was not hiding anything. Being in a town with people, while being Hardcore, just feels show-offy and I, in general, just feel I would have been distracted to talk rather than focus on leveling. I came into this expecting there to be quite a few people going for it but it seems I was the only one who hardcored it.
Edit 2: The more I read your comment, the more I realize how you really tried to push the illegitimate aspect of it. You mention the warp portal but no for how long. I believe it was 91 to 98 non-trans that I used it? And none afterwards. "Extensive Maintenance" Maybe you confused the times the server went down to fix the crashes caused by mobs using non-damage statusing skills on HC players with the not even 30 minutes maintenance that literally just commented warpportal in the skilldb? It's funny because I remember you, too. When I told you Shilo said it was okay, you kept saying you "doubted it."
I don't quite understand your argument regarding hiding your use of Warp Portal considering that nearly every town on the server has Warpra and Storage. The only Save Point that I know of that is off is Morroc.
And yeah, there's no use in trying to turn this around on me because this isn't about jealousy; I do not play HC on the server and I haven't had the desire to. I like playing with others. So I could care less about you getting to 99/70 first, in fact I find that to be quite a feat and I do believe that you certainly could have achieved it without Warp Portal, as I'm sure many others can and--because of you--now must do, because Warp Portal is now disabled on HC players from your point forward.
As far as your last little tirade edit there, you are actually wrong and I am not confusing some other crashes. For about two weeks the server had Warp Portal disabled entirely due to this, again not any of your fault directly so don't feel as though that is where I'm coming from. I'm not trying to attack you, just realize that your HC was earned in a questionable way and even is condoned by GMs, is still under different and more liberal circumstances than every future player after you. That isn't a matter of opinion, it is a matter of fact at this point: You were allowed to use a feature that now no player on that same game mode may now use. It is not my place to say whether or not that disqualifies you, and from the looks of it you are still entitled to your iPad. I never doubted that and I still encourage you to seek it out... I mean, it's a free freaking iPad. I would be making the same argument if I were in your shoes.
That's not the player's fault. The developers should've thought of this before they started the game. And of course, several players will report him because they're envious (crab mentality).
"You kind of abused something you knew you should not have" loooooooooooool
Again, you should've thought about this and you should've ironed out your rules before you started the event. It's like you hosted a marathon and while players were running, you suddenly told him that running isn't allowed.
And Elaria never said anything bad, in fact she can't believe that Shilo will do tha (even she already did). Shilo should just close down her server if she has no time to at least respond to his server, stop giving your players the "busy with school/work" bs, because you started this and you should be ready to face these. Owning a private server is not just a hobby that you can just suddenly abandon, owners should treat their servers as their fulltime job.
Hey you should read a little bit. I did not make the rules and had nothing to do with the event considering that I am not a GM and nothing close to that, just a passionate and active player on the server. Remember to read next time, and a little critically, too.
lol, people's comprehension nowadays is sooo poor
Hm, yeah... no kidding. Maybe you should lecture us on it.^^^
As far as your last point, yeah you're completely wrong. People have to work. They have to earn a living. And even if they are well off, it is still healthy to engage in a profession and seek some sort of advancement, perform a civic duty, or engage in personal business or enrichment. If you expect me or anyone else in the community to fault a GM or Admin for wanting to have that in their life, then that is unreasonable. For most sane people, work, school, and family come first in priority to things like hobbies.
You'll probably learn that in due time.
People do work. They do go to school. This includes GMs. GMs accept donations, not payments to the server. They don't have customers, they have players that are part of a community. You might think that a server is like a business, but in many cases it is not. It is a hobby, something people want to devote a little bit of time to when they are not working or tending to life's needs. Players DONATE to servers in support of them, they do not PAY servers for premium content--though donation rewards on several servers would have you believe otherwise. Thankfully TotalRO does not work that way and any player can earn Cash Points without even donating.
