TalonRO rules enforcement

Hi guys,

So I have been playing RO on and off for the past.. 10 years? Both official and private servers. I happened to chance upon TalonRO about a month ago, and have been addicted ever since. There is not a single day in the past month that I did not log on to play for at least a while. Only problem I have with them is the way they dish out their punishments.

I have been muted once for kill-stealing, 720 minutes. That was the first turn off for me, as I was not provided evidence of who I ks-ed, because honestly, I did not ks anyone intentionally. I sent in a support ticket, but the GMs just brushed me off.

Now, I have been banned for a leech scam. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I'm guessing its that I offered leech and scammed someone to give me their money and not perform the service for them? I am not sure because I have not only been blocked from the game, but also the entire website and forum. I mean, if you ban me from access to every feature, how am I supposed to send in a support ticket to find out what's going on, or to explain myself?

Not to say that donating makes me above the law, but it makes no sense that I would scam someone of what.. 2m zeny, when I have donated around 300+ USD to the server for my equipments and all. That's around half a thousand dollars at my home country. I spent so much money to be one day simply banned, from everything. I mean like, I'm feeling so lost now, can't even go to the forum and seek any help. No chance given to question or explain anything.

My point is, just because someone reports you, or has a screenshot even, doesn't mean that you should directly be punished. In many cases, maybe so, but situations where scamming is involved, I feel that the GM should also inform you of the situation, and see if you have a valid reason or if there was a misunderstanding. By just banning you totally from even the website and forums, it is a little unfair and extreme, even.

If I did wrong, I have no qualms being punished. But I would just like to know who is it I allegedly scammed, and also a chance to give my side of the story. If you guys can see from my story how I am at fault, please feel free to just comment. I would really like to know the problem here. Thank you.

The message tells youe everything you have to know. While you think that we should inform scammers first before banning them, I don't think we should. You agreed to the rules, if you scam someone then you get banned. That's simply how it is.

Hi Boreas,

My main concern is actually whether or not there was a misunderstanding, as I was suddenly banned when I don't even know what I did. As far as I know, I didn't scam anyone and if you look at my account, you will see that there was no reason to do so. For those leeches I disconnected from, I gave the players a refund when they PMed me. I got all my money and equipments solely from talon coins which I paid for. Please advise.

People are never IP banned from the forum/website/panel. However, due to the nature of SMF bans you have to clear your cookies or use a different browser before you can register a new account.

That way you can submit a support ticket and ask for the reason of your ban.

I can understand banning someone directly ingame rather than first talking with him, but why would you also ban him from forums? Most servers have an appeal section even.

Due to the nature of how our account management system works. All ingame accounts are attached to a single forum account, thus we usually ban everything on one go. In most cases (~90%) people simply create a new account and submit a ticket, we never had problems with this before.

Also, other serves may have whatever they want but we do not have an 'appeal section'. People aren't banned without clear evidence and investigation, I never had to unban someone again because of a false decision. Usually players claim that their brother/neighbour/dog/ipod did whatever they got banned for, but luckily our rules state that you are fully responsible for your account and all actions done.

Sidenote: the topic starter was given one week to resolve the situation, during that time he was ingame every day but didn't mail back the victim. What else should I do? Give them five weeks? No, srsly.

In all honesty, there was no prompt of new mail and I can't be expected to check it every single time I log on as I wasn't expecting any mail. I did all I could but apparently the logs say otherwise, and there was no benefit of the doubt. You asked for someone to validate my words, I gave you a few names you could check my story with as a character referee, you then said it was a different case. I spent 500 dollars on this game 3-4 days before the ban, and there was nothing done for proper closure. Sigh.

Seriously, good luck finding a better server then. This is ridiculous.

What I admitted to was my failure to check the mailbox, and in turn, what you said, ignored the "victim". Which I strongly believe does not warrant a permanent ban. I did not admit to scamming anyone. You asked for people to probably be able to vouch for me, but you just brushed those aside as separate cases when I gave you names.

I appreciate and am grateful for your time but in actual fact, you had already labelled me right from the start and was inevitably biased in your judgement.

Never did I ask you for that. You told me that you would be able to prove that those mails were sent from your side but failed to do so. So in the end it was your word against the server logs, I will rather believe the serverlogs.

Anyway, you stay banned, this case is closed for me. It's the same s*** over and over and I am not up for that. 8DDDDDDDD

There are plenty of other servers in the RMS database, I suggest you look for a new one and don't break the rules there again. All happy. 8DDD

I think it fair to say boreas gave you a fair chance and was professional.

considering the fact he spent 3 hours on a case which he really didn't have to do since it was already open and shut, because of your half witted actions I think its all justifiable. Also if you think the fact you spent $500 on the server allows you some sort of leniency then that is foolish, when you buy those talon coins you aren't buying a service from TalonRO since the service they offer are free, what you are doing is donating to the server to help them to keep providing that service for free and in turn they are thanking you by giving you talon coins almost like a kickstarter

Like I said, I appreciate and thank Boreas for his time. But like I also said, he already had a biased impression on me regarding the issue. I did send mails to the other player but apparently it wasn't shown on the server logs.

Also, if I had seen the mails and ignored them, yes I scammed. But I didn't. I was new enough to the server to not have a habit of checking my mails or sending in a lost and found ticket to the GMs.

I am not suggesting any leniency in terms of punishment. There shouldn't be. I am just trying to somehow convince that with my donations and all, it makes no sense I need to scam someone of a fraction of what I own, and risk my hundreds of millions worth of zeny get banned.

I donate because I enjoy the server, and want to help her sustain the server for me to play on, this is true. But now that server is not mine to enjoy, some 3 days after the huge donation. Does this even make sense? Due to a misunderstanding and my lack of experience to check the mail?

Upon logging into the server a message pops up in your chat box to say "1 new mail (1 unread)" if you have any mail in your mail box. On top of this, I've seen richer players break rules for less. Had a mail been sent to the other player it WOULD have been on server logs. Boreas has no reason to lie about it, after all, if he simply wanted you to be banned without a chance he wouldn't have given the opportunity to respond to mail at all.

Though I am a little confused, you said that you sent a mail and it never showed on the server logs, and then said you never saw your mail so you didn't know to send mail to them...

Well tbh it's a little hard to pay attention to that as when you log in, the main, market and recruit chats all flood your chat box. And what I mean is that I sent a mail to the guy after my Internet got back on, but didn't check my mail after that. Some error somewhere I guess, pity.

Yeap. Almost coming to terms with the issue now. Good lesson learnt anyway. Apologies for all my ranting guys.

Btw, on another note, they seem to have refunded my latest donation on PayPal, at least it lessens my losses. Will double check and update. Many thanks to them for this concession.

I too became a victim of this Server . This server banned me for no reason been playing for almost 1 year 2B worth zeny suddenly gone cause they decided to ban me one day accusing me something i did not know or do .

This gm boreas doesn't give a damn about customers donators and players who are honestly on TALONRO server. He Doesn't give second chance or even warn you before banning and thanks to their system you'll get instant ban when you have same ISP with your Neighbor Sucks huh? . He's just gonna tell you Go away or Find a new server yet we are the ones who made your server famous from voting and asking friends to play this is how they REPAY you they think they're already famous server but its all because of players like us.

And who gave you permission to disclose any information of why you banned me? specifically to those who i fight 1v1 on PVP why are you guys close with each other did he said i can match him now that's why you need to ban me? he's already playing on the server for 6 years and i'm on only on my 1st year? you got no evidence of me cheating and FYI i and me alone is responsible for my account and that's why we're here to defend our own account? are we trying to defend those other accounts that you're accusing us ? no? i think your a dev alright DEV WANNABE.

Even if we go to court your so called evidence wont even stand a chance cause your evidence doesn't even point to any specific person cheating. Did you have my real name? my real account? my real email ? my real IP address ? or Mac address? does that say i'm using 3570k CPU and Geforce GTX titan and Asus SaberTooth on that so called evidence? if no then you're stupid and that's not me Its my dog = ) how can you tell its me that was cheating not my friend my neighbor or my DOG? most boring line ever.

Bottom line if your a serious player or a real gamer or a pro gamer don't waste your time on this server not worth it to have Gm's like this who should be thanking you or us players why they stay on number one.

I'll just ask it again...who are you? I can't smell by the name of "TRO_sucks" who you are and cannot check the logs to see why you were banned, y'know?

We don't ban people for fun or without reason. They are only banned if there are grounds for it. And without you telling us who you are, we simply cannot check why. We get like 30 support tickets every day and cannot remember each and every one of them.

Also, why exactly do you keep bringing up your dog? What does your dog have to do with anything?

Lastly, you have a GM here who is willing to look into your ban for you. So again I ask - why are you so hesitant to tell them who you are? If you're innocent, surely telling them who you are won't be a problem, right? I mean, it's not like you have anything to hide if you're innocent, right?
