RoFriends - advertising their mediocre server

The topic title explains it all.

Make sure you click the **** links, we didn't delete the linkage.

Pitiful attempt at advertising a crappy server. This kind of advertisement is what doesn't get you players because it seems awkward you went on another server to promote when it is clearly unethical and against my rules.

Regardless, I doubt RMS will do anything, just a FYI thread. Players wanted me to post on this via RMS.

Thanks.

Take a look at what the players have to say about the unique experience that is DivinityRO!

Was just about to post when I saw this. Same person has done the same thing on my server as well. Same name and exact same wording in the post as well lol (more or less).

their mediocre server
This doesn't make you good too tbh even if it can be/is true[never played there and never even gone to their website except now and I kinda lol'd at it by being all german and trying to get people internationally], pointing bad stuff is bad enough imo
Just because your server may be THE BEST to you and your players[and even look good to outsiders which is a true thing based on what I've seen already] you don't need to point how bad others are because people know how bad stuff is from reviews and actions and words are spread fast.
It just may look a bit bad to others seeing an admin being so aggressive to others just because of something made by a stupid player/admin/gm/etc to try to get players in a lame way and failing HARD lol

Ich liebe dich ROFriends für die lusting moment <3

Of course, no one will take into account that this person might be trying to defame that server.

Why don't you contact their administrator and give this person's IP address.
If the server owner's mature enough to notice that this person is gathering bad rep for his server, he'll do something.

And you're not even sure if this is a player or a member of their staff.

And throwing insults at another server and posting it on RMS is way too mature, than contacting the server owner first.

I agree, it could be someone just trying to defame the server, no way to know if its a player or staff member, but I honestly think RMS would be the quickest way to bring it to the server owner's attention. The server owner could always post here as well and say its someone not affiliated with their staff, in which case, then it doesn't really matter~

I guess you're correct that RMS can probably reach the owner faster.

But the insults are soooo totally uncalled for.

More of an opinion rather insult.

For those who are sensitive to it, I apologize for the thread name.

@Eury: I have a lot of more pressing matters than tracking down the Admin. I'd rather lock the topic and just report it. I for one, as an Administrator, would check RMS and make sure that my server isn't negatively receiving commentary and such - that would be to ensure I'm not being defamed. I take too active of a roll in my server to worry about petty stuff. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Thanks.

But you had the time to post this on RMS but not try to contact the server owner.

lolwat?

It's cool that you have opinions and stuff, but as an administrator calling other servers 'crappy' or 'mediocre' sets a bad example for how you represent your server, it just seems jerky.  ( Not saying you're a jerk, lol )  I don't think the people pointed it out here cause they are 'sensitive' to the fact that you called the other server crappy, but more less trying to say that being that way, as an Admin, can have a negative effect on how players view you.  Some people choose to not join servers cause of Staff attitude, so having the right one, even when dealing with people like this, can really make a good impression on a lot of potential players.

I understand!

Thanks for the comments. :)

As a side note, this was a case in which my bad side showed - calling the server "mediocre". Not to confuse others, I don't normally act this way.

RMS will not be able to do anything seeing how that can be anyone.

Not all cheap advertisements are people from the servers staff.

Oh good grief, if this is the same damn ROFriends led by Novala and half of his huejhasuahauhauaha family, I feel really sorry for you.

Reporting this here is fine. Stepping up and labelling it what you did, maybe a rethink there?

Like many have said, this type of advertisement sometimes are actual players, rather than staff members. Contacting would probably be the only way to figure it out. Then again, denying is also easy.

Still, its good to make it known to other owners.

PS: Sorry for necro, my friend told me about this happening, and thought I'd check if it had been posted here. So yeah, once again, sorry.
