Rebirth RO legalizing cyber prostitution | Content argued not suitable to kids

So after a long week, I get on Rebirth RO to grind my cares away and see cybering for credits being talked about in the main chat. I thought it was a joke and was quite a funny one at that, though some people seemed to be taking it rather seriously I figured they must be trolls doing it for the lulz, that was, until, I saw a GM partaking in the trolling and then I became a little concerned (my first thoughts were: has the GM been hacked or is this an imposter?) The conversation seemed to die down and I thought this was going to be an interesting story for tomorrow's papers (this just in: GM hacked by trolls) but then he came back on a little later saying something about he put a topic up on the forums about it and then sent out a global announcement that adult services could now be used to earn credits. I figured this was no longer a hack or joke anymore, and this was real and serious.

Mere words cannot describe my disgust and horror. After voicing my opinion (including that of prostitutes, one that isn't full of rainbows and unicorns, mind you), I was muted. Thankfully I'm not the only one horrified and disgusted by this, there were several others that were wtfing and others that were supporting it. I told my roommates who responded in disbelief, one of them was practically laughing at first thinking it was a joke until I showed her the topic and then she thought it was just messed up, the other is amazed it is even legal.

This girl who is selling herself doesn't even look 18, and that would be why she's so desperate for credits because she doesn't have the money to buy them herself. Any actual adult has a job which they can buy things like credits with (I'm currently in school to be a CNA and would have loved to donate to this server, but not anymore). Those might not even be her actual pictures, they might be some pictures he/she is pulling off of anywhere.

I'm sorry, but I very strongly disagree with selling yourself, and I strongly disagree even more with selling yourself for a currency you can't even hold in your hand (you might as well be selling yourself for dirt, but even that would have more worth!) I have far more respect for my body and don't believe in throwing it to slobbering horny hounds (or at least, if I'm going to, it will be my boyfriend thank you very much). If some guys and gals want to be stupid and buy women for a virtual currency then that is all fine and dandy, but it sure doesn't make the server or admin look good when they openly support it and allow the advertisement of it, they're just as stupid as the customers, and to be honest they're just making gamers out to be even more stereotypical and pitiful because apparently they can't get a real girlfriend so they have to fap to a fake one. We might as well rename Rebirth RO to Porn RO now too, since they're now offering "adult services".

RebirthRO is a very libertarian server. An interest was expressed to be able to make transactions of this nature. We feel that this causes no harm to anyone as all involved are willing participants. If you do not wish to partake is these kinds of activities we would like to remind you that no one is forcing you to do anything. As stated in the announcement, all parties must abide by their local laws.

On a personal note: Trying to force your views onto others is not an OK thing. The fact that you made this thread is a sad statement about your life.

As for your second statement, the fact that you made this legal and defended it as if you actively partake in it, is a very sad statement about your life, dear sir.

While I'm waiting for a reply to my PM, mind telling us why you feel the need to sell yourself Lenaia? Why can't you buy credits?

You're outraged we're allowing adults to do things which are legal, meanwhile you're breaking the law? Alright. We can argue what's right and what's wrong all day, but, I don't see any harm in allowing adults to do whatever they feel comfortable doing especially when those actions are legal. Officially, RebirthRO does not endorse any third party services or sales. We only allow those services to be discussed in a special section which has the clause "proceed at your own risk."

Imo it's degrading to sell yourself for real currency, so it's pitiful to sell yourself for a game currency. What on earth is wrong with people nowadays.

Besides, how do you verify someone's legal age where they live, they could just lie about their location in the world, which could cause legal problems anyway.

So are you not doing this for credits then? Pay through paypal? Do you not have a job? You could still sell things which aren't your body, too.

And Mr. Admin, I take it you haven't been to one of the many "Why RO isn't exactly illegal" discussions. Pretty sad for an admin. This is true though, that online prostitution is technically legal at the moment, I forgot about that, you got me on that one, but in that one discussion you seemed to be acting as if it was illegal and because you are doing something illegal, doing something illegal doesn't matter.

Prostitution is illegal this is little more then that although technically not illegal this is true because laws. . .internet wut is dat?, unless you are in countries where cyber prostitution is legal. However you do run into the problem of what if underage girls get involved, I think a similar incident happened on a forum I use to browse, 2 people started cybering but a girl turned out to be under age of consent, and entire place had to get shut down and even though you are not supporting it, by letting it happen you are not preventing it thus in my opinion responsible since y'all control your  forums and it content.  However as long as girls don't get involved nothing wrong I guess except from a moral standpoint which can be debated.  Although there might be a case that you aren't doing enough to prevent minors from accessing it thus is illegal?

In the view of my favorite libertarian Ayn Rand, it shouldn't be illegal but that doesn't mean it moral.
Also how is there even a market for this have people not heard of redtube?

Also I don't find being comfortable with ones body and sexuality has nothing to do with this topic, thats all fine and dandy so do I, isn't it more or less a lack of respect for ones body though, not being comfortable with it that drives prostitution, besides being forced or poverty I cannot image why someone would unless they don't.
