GM OverClokx - Extreme power abuse and corruption
« on: Nov 02, 2011, 01:54 pm »
I thought it would be a good idea to give the RO community a heads up about a GM we have just recently fired from our server (Lumina RO), GM OverClokx.

He was hired as a trial GM sometime back in July, all was going well, and he was quickly promoted to full support GM. Around August, our admin Adhelle took the trip of a lifetime, travelling around Adhelle ending in a 2 week stay with myself in England. Around the beginning of her trip we sadly lost some of out staff team to real life issues, bad timing meant that our staff team was severely depleted, more bad timing meant that myself and Epoque had to take some time away due to moving/starting final university year/problems with our new accomadation ect, 2 other members of staff also had to take some leave which very few active GM's to take care of the server, namely GM OverClokx as a support GM and MissLuna as our event GM, both of them did a great job holding up the server while we were all away, but it seems GM OverClokx thought he deserved a little something "extra" for his time. sadly this little something extra was helping himself to items from permanently banned accounts, selling them off, and making himself a small fortune.

He was able to do this through changing the accounts email via our control panel, resetting the password, unbanning said account, logging in and removing anything of any value to his legitimate accounts through a series of proxies, though it does seem in the beginning he wasn't quite so smart and used his own IP for a while, thus we have been able to trace logins and item movement through our logs.

(click to show/hide)

All email addresses have all been removed, as have the last 3 digits of IPs. I am more than able to provide more screenshots of the accounts he has raided and the logs of the item movements if anyone feels it necessary.

Makes me think twice about checking the logs, I forgot to do that tonight.

Wow, I believe you with just the proof you provided. Can't trust them more than you can throw them.

Take a look at what the players have to say about the unique experience that is DivinityRO!

Oh wow, this all must've happened after I left Lumina then. :O Shame, I chatted with GM OC a couple of times in game, he seemed like a nice fellow, but apparently looks can really be deceiving. ;<
"Howard, you do know I've got a number of ways to poison you. In your sleep. Your food. You don't want that to happen do you?"

That's too bad. I hope you have better luck with your recruits next time! Just shows how careful you have to be with some people.

I have no illusions about any person I meet on the internet, this is the internet after all, you can be whoever you want and all that. This is more of a warning for other servers so they hopefully don't fall foul to his cheating. Thought I don't doubt he will be changing his name and attempt to get on another server, so if anyone receives an application from someone similar I will glad do some checks to make sure it isn't him.

That's a bit more clever than the plain and simply @ command give out item in game.  Does he have the ability to do that?

Yes he did have the power to do this. You're right it was very clever, I did get lucky in catching him.

Or if you don't, the default setting will log atcommands for you in .txt version.

Go to serverfiles>log>atcommand.log

Though SQL is better. You can also inject it on a PHP File for easier viewing.
