Hey there!
I didn't know where to post this so bare with me please if this is the wrong section.
This is just a notice to server owners since I feel like something needs to be done about it.  /hmm

We had this player and he was pretty rude to everyone and kept provoking people over the global chats.
At some point he started to ask things like "GM can you please ban this player if I donate 1k $ now?" - Of course I said no right away.
Donators have no advantage and will not be treated any different than non donators, even if that player would have been the only source of income.

Anyway at some point I got a PM about him getting "Zeny scammed" by a lottery NPC we have. I tried to explain to him the way the NPC works and even tried it myself just to make sure that there is nothing wrong with it. I was insulted right away, which isn't a big thing since I am used to it after all those years of managing servers and dealing with customers from my business. I tried to find a middle way and refund him half of the zeny he lost in exchange of the items he got out of it. (yes, he still won items but felt scammed...)
However he rather wanted me to cut my wrists open and buy myself a rope with the donations he made so I could hang myself. :>

I think that was the point for me to give him a temp ban of 3 days which is still not super harsh, I know other server owners that for a fact would've perm banned him for that.
But apparently that still wasn't enough for him, he did a chargeback of all donations made since he started to play and lost all cases on paypal. Thought it would be fine now but he went further and told his bank to get the money back, which worked.
I mean it doesn't really matter, it was only around 200$ he donated but I still feel like he's the sort of player that jumps from server to server in hopes to have advantage as a donator and then do chargebacks once he gets banned.

So if you're a server owner, please be careful with such players! They'll cause trouble, leave a bad review once you banned them and do chargebacks! I've asked yC to publish his IP and name in the Hall of Shame list but no reply yet. I hope something gets done about it, we have a Hall of Shame for server owners and GMs, but some players aren't really better.

Another "cancer" player who thinks donating makes him entitled to everything.  /pif

Also, the likes of this player are the same people who thinks they are always right, following the quote "Customer's always right."

I'm sorry you had to go through this Daifuku. These comments are pretty disgusting and even though you have to act like this doesn't affect you, I'm sure it does. It leaves a pretty bad taste for a day or two. You've somehow managed to stay calm and professional while he was PMing you, so congratulations on that. You didn't give him free materials to attack you on RMS afterwards, which, judging from his behavior, would have been his next move.

I would have personally banned the player, along with all his accounts, right after he called you a c*** though. He had no intention of resolving the conflict at that point. Everything else was just bonus for him; if he wanted to stay he would have apologized to you on the forum or on Discord. If he creates more drama, then you won't have to feel bad about banning a player too soon.

(Also, avoid responding to players when they start insulting you. He clearly knew he was going to get banned, he just wanted to have fun and test your limits.)

^ Yep, sad but true. I'm just glad there's more nice/normal players around (at least on my server) than such douchies.

^ I'm a pretty chilled person and as said I've had these situations pretty often due to my business, so it isn't really affecting me in any way :v
I just think that these players deserve a spot in the Hall of Shame so other server owners always have the chance to look up IP's and see if person XY is already known for such things on other servers. @_@

I believe I sent you a reply few days ago.  Or take a look at http://forum.ratemyserver.net/announcements/global-forum-rules/

Similar to the problem with Hall of Shame GMs, unless the server is still alive (or later revealed relations...) there is nothing preventing them from going under a different name.  In the case of a player, it will have no effect at all.

I'm sorry to hear of your experience with this player.  You handled it pretty professionally though, kudos & respect to you!

As for a HoS for players, it's a good suggestion but.. I feel that a single toxic player doesn't impact a server as much as say, a corrupt GM does.  Typically toxic players that disregard server rules will be banned or muted pretty swiftly on most servers with no long-term damage to the server (usually), assuming the admin/GM team of said server cares enough to deal with them. (Some servers are fine with this type of behaviour)  A corrupt GM on the other hand can cause all sorts of messy issues, which are often difficult to fix.

This is why we have a GM HoS, and not a player HoS,  With our GM HoS, we can list the various misdeeds committed by GMs/admins in the hopes of helping players to avoid servers they're involved with, or helping potential server owners to avoid hiring them.  Of course though as yC mentioned, even the GM HoS has it's limitations, as the offenders can simply use a different name and effectively erase their past. (the past often catches up with them though when they try to hide under a new name, at least on some occasions)

Again, respect for the way you handled the situation.  You showed a good level of maturity, which is more than what could be said for that player. ;)

-X.

^ Ah well, yeah I guess that's true. I forgot about that when posting here :<
It's just that some player are known under a certain name and use that name everywhere else.. but I guess it wouldn't help much afterall.
Anyway, I just wanted to warn server owners, I think a ToS won't even protect you when something like that happens?  /hmm
Thanks a lot though for saying I handled the situation well, much appreciated. ♥

Tristan

Can't believe someone could go douchebag status on one of the nicest GMs in the MR community right now.
Big up to Fuku for not only demonstrating maturity but also coping with extreme derogatory terms in a calm way.

Donate comes from the word donation which means giving and you don't expect anything in return for the contribution. That player doesn't know the meaning of donate. He/she can even check google or a dictionary for this and let's see who is wrong.  /hmm

Neffletics

People should know the difference of donating and purchasing  /heh
