Ecchi-RO has some odd GM's.

So I was invited to play this server some time ago by a friend of mine. Didn't really log on much, as high rate servers aren't exactly my thing and have never really been able to hold my attention for more than an hour or so at a time. Didn't interact with any of the staff much apart from oop had to edit out GM's name for privacy purposes and such. The community seemed decent enough, aside from the one suck-up that was pointed out to me when I first joined (and never had any real interaction with anyway).

Anyway, just recently, I decided to make a forum account, introduce myself and poke around there a bit. This is what happened: http://board.ecchi-ro.net/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=1741

Obvious troll post, yes, I know, but nothing terribly out of hand. I was honestly just playing around. In my past experience, a normal admin would typically look at this sort of thing, maybe have a laugh and/or just shrug it off and go about their business, but not netsrot. Don't know about everyone else, but a three week forum ban for something as stupid as this just seems like a bit much. To top it off, I was banned ingame shortly after this for a period of several months. Nothing was said to me prior to the ingame ban (as far as I could tell; I was actually alt tabbed when this happened, so it's entirely possible that someone could have said something and I just missed it).

Again, just playing around. I honestly didn't care if I got unbanned, had my ban extended or whatever. I just found it amusing that despite how retarded I was being, this guy actually seemed to take me seriously. Of course, I was banned again after posting that (and wondering why anyone would get so worked up over a pornographic image being posted on the forums of a hentai-themed server).

Shortly after that event, the administrator, netsrot, decided to create this poll: http://board.ecchi-ro.net/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=1745

I made a similar poll entitled, "Do you really like admins who behave like..", which was deleted shortly after I'd posted it. I wouldn't be shocked at all if those threads were to be deleted after this post, so I've taken screen shots of all the relevant posts on that server's forum and will upload them if that happens.

I'm not trying to sway anyone one way or the other in regards to this server. Just thought I'd leave this here so anyone considering making this their next server will have some idea of what they're getting themselves in to. If you can somehow avoid having any interaction at all with the admin, you might actually find a server you like (assuming highly customized porn-themed servers are your thing).

tl;dr - Admin (netsrot) overreacts to dumb stuff and should probably just not talk to players (from my understanding, the majority of the people who choose to stay there don't even like him; that's only what I've been told, though, don't take my word for it). Ever.

How is this even a rant and rave.  Everyone has different GMs, that GM didn't want to put up with your trolling crap so you got banned.  Whats the point of this thread.  e.e;

He banned you for 'trolling'.  Yes, the ban time was a little extreme, but people GM differently.  -Shrugs-  Go find a better server with better staff or a server who promotes trolling.

I admit it was nothing too out of hand, but some people just do -not- put up with any forms of trolling.

True enough, but if telling people to "learn how to spell in English" is how they normally respond to those who can't read / write / speak the language particularly well, I think that's cause for concern.

I agree, and most GM's just ignore that kind of stuff nowadays but some doesn't tolerate trolls on their forum.

So, to summarize, you decided to introduce yourself to the community (which is a hentai-based community and should be treated as such), decided to screw around (which the administrator apparently didn't like) and then got banned for responding to him in the manner of which he responded to you.

While I admit that I don't like trolling either, reading those threads, it was harmless. That would be like me banning someone for making a "Ur Momma's so fat" joke. Repetitive trolling is annoying, yes, but when it's blatantly obvious that the person is not serious, as an administrator, just ignore it. Of course I'd personally avoid playing along on the forums to an extent (joking around is fine, but in my opinion administrators need to know the line between professionalism and horse play) and keep it to in-game horseplay, but if he didn't like it, he didn't have to respond to it.

"its his survr he can do wat he wan," sure, but how many people are going to enjoy playing his server if he's going to ban someone for one, posting nudity on a server that promotes it, and two, trolling on a server that isn't even entirely a serious environment. I'm sorry, but if I played on a hentai server, I'd probably act the same way. People join them to be perverted, act stupid, pose as girls to get attention, and a variety of other things. Even on my server, I don't mind trolling (as I said to an extent), especially if it isn't directed towards one person, but just someone acting stupid. They're not part of the staff, they're there to enjoy it. Sure, this game is meant for all ages (which ONLY can apply to servers that aren't hentai based), but if someone doesn't like something, they don't have to continue reading it, as I said.

As Chemi said, though, he has his own style of GMing, as does everyone. Is it okay to just throw down the ban hammer because you feel like it? No. Is it okay to give the holier than thou attitude after having trolled you to begin with? Absolutely not, but what can you do?

I agree that the ban period was way too long. Though, the Administrator was taunted... so I guess he felt the need to deal with the situation this way. I would have ignored the thread or post a joke back since it's an introduction thread. However, I don't really approve of the replies that come afterwards from both sides.

Having that said, the Administrator took it too seriously in the first place. Even some players beforehand replied to the thread, knowing that it was just for fun (including a GM I believe). In the end, professionalism was at stake.

The admin CAN take the joke and follow back, but it's pretty much dumb for him to ban someone just because the person can do the joke as well (or even better at the joke).
