Starting a new private server

I would like to start my own private server and was wondering if anyone could gimme some knowledge on what I need to D/L to get it started, I would appreciate any info I can get. Thx

First, you need to pick out a Ragnarok emulator. Then you should follow the guide on the emulator's site to set it up. I recommend eAthena. Thier forums can be found at : http://eathena.deltaanime.net

You can download a precompiled version of the emulator at: http://santuary.org/

If you need support, try posting on the eathena forums.(Though try reading a guide there first, there's a bunch)

If you go the eAthena route, BowieBowie has made a wonderful guide that should be an almost idiot-proof method of getting a server started.  Customizing and all that kind of stuff... ISN'T so idiot-proof, however.

go to glenn's link and read alot before you start. there is a wiki and a guides forum to get you started.

learning C and C++ is a good way to start so you can fix problems that ea dishes out all the time your self
