Can't do edits on grf

is it possible that some server block any editing onto our client because i am playing 2 servers right now and 1 server i'm able to edit but the other didn't work.. Weird..

To make things more clear. Most of the servers i played on i was able to edit those mvps, but the new server i'm playing at, i wasnt able.. I was unable to change the texture details as well... Prolly they blocked grf editing or something like that

If you're editing the main grf yep, some stuff like harmony[I think] do block main grf with edits. The "way to evade" that is to make your own grf and make it run before them by editing the ini and give higher priority to yours.

Odd thing is.. this server does not have any game guard...
My edited mvp sprite or texture does not have any effect on this server...
Oh when u said editing the ini to make it run the grf before them, i found another odd thing. They don have DATA.ini in the ro folder. Tried to put a DATA.ini into the folder, no effect.. What do u think??

That seems one of the type of the servers where the files are hidden in the user folder because of the stupid way windows manage things. For sure there is another folder somewhere with those files and you just have to find them.
At the moment I don't remember the name but if you check the folder where you have the server there should be an icon at the top of that page +/- before the section with the menus you get with alt and one of them as a different name that you never saw before[I don't really remember the name neither I've one program with that to get it but is something started with C I think].

They prolly hexed the client to read a name other then data.ini lol just look for another .ini somewhere in the folder and that should be it ^_^

woot you da best.. they really changed name of the ini >.>

now similar situation but i'm unable to change the mobs sprite.. tried changing drops into detale.. doesnt work on this server.. Did they ninja change something again?

Most likely they did ninja something again... lol! Are you able to extract their grf? I am just curious because one server has a grf protection in which you cannot even open it.

1. If you can't edit the GRF, compare the files in your server folder to those in a regular RO folder. Some developers trick us by using a different filename for data.ini (e.g. in a past server, they used .dll)

2. If you can't figure out #1, then apply the grf edits onto the server's custom GRF.

3. If you server has harmony, then forget GRF edits. They wont work (99.99 pct of the time).
