I've been playing this server for like 1week and i must say that it is quite challenging and enjoyable so far, challenges are rewarding especially this season of Christmas events. Every player i've met/talked so far are friendly and will guide you through the mechanics of the server/game. and btw you also forgot to add global drops :P

I have some few questions:

How long have been the server running?

How is the economy?

Is it single or dual log-in?

Is there soul linkers and taekwon masters/star gladiators?

Launched on Oct 2013. Source: the page that was linked to you.

You can usually find everything you need for sale.

Multiclient, but there's an exp bonus if no one in your party is using more than one client.

Nope, only TKs.
Server Reviews / Shining Moon RO - A Pretty Darn Long Review
« Last post by BlankXF on Dec 09, 2017, 02:53 PM »

I've been on this one particular server for around 6 months now and I'd say my stay here had been one of the best within the vast number of servers I've been on. Shining Moon opened on 11th June 2017. It's a 30x/30x/10x midrate Renewal server with MVP cards set at 0.04%. The server does have somewhat frequent rate increase events, which usually include BaseEXP, JobEXP and either equipment and/or card drop rates (aside from MVPs aside from once, and it still only raised it to 0.05%). The server itself is kRO based with a mix of kRO and jRO items and is highly customized. However they're more towards adding new gameplay modes, build viabilities as well as for player quality of life improvements and largely fits within midrate gameplay. The server is also quick to adapt any new features and mechanics change from kRO.

Customizations     9/10
The server is chock full of custom additions. Let's not talk much about the usual daily check-ins, automated events, custom maintown and the likes that's common in a ton of servers. I'll start with the features available

World Drops: The server has a special drop feature that grants a low chance of dropping a specified list of cash items. These has a chance to drop from any monsters slain that's within 40 levels of the killer, are not bound in any way, and gets added directly to your inventory so there's no chance of missing them.
World Boss: These are a group of 5 special MVPs that spawns in a special map. The map flag changes depending on which of them spawns. The bosses each have their own traits with one taking melee damage only, one taking ranged only and one taking magic only. Other damage types deal 1 damage. The other two have no restrictions, however the map becomes PVP flagged so the boss won't be the only thing you'd have to worry about. The rewards are special boxes that contains a slew of items not obtainable elsewhere, different between the bosses, that is sent through RODEX to anyone that damaged the World Boss. It includes a rank feature that grants more rewards to those higher on the ranks. Even if you're just starting out, hitting the boss for even 1 damage guarantees you at least 1 reward box /no1
Costumes: The costume enchants went in a different direction compared to kRO enchants and uses random options instead. The costumes include a mix of custom sprites and the ever pleasant looking costumes from jRO. Normal headgears can be turned into costumes as well, but these selfmade costumes can't be enchanted.
Instances: There's two custom instances based on the server's unique Dark Society storyline, with plans for even more additions in the future. Completing the first instance also grants you access to a custom dungeon where players get a shot at jRO items contained in iRO's OCP boxes.
Battlegrounds: The Battlegrounds were changed to make use of only Valor Badges for everything for a more unified reward system. War Badges were also repurposed for players to buy consumables and bottles that can be used outside of BG. The BG has a queue system that can be accessed through a command and have 9 different game modes.
Weapon Evolution: This is a custom system that helps new or casual players to obtain otherwise hard to get weapons by progressing through a fixed evolution line. You just turn on Weapon Evo for an eligible weapon, equip it and start killing monsters. Evolve it to the next tier once it reaches 100%.
Spiritual Energy: Through this system, a little bar will appear on the bottom right of your screen that goes from 0 to 100. Once it fills up by killing monsters within 30 base levels of your character or any MVPs, you can use a command or the Spiritual Energy etc. skill to grant you level 10 Blessing and Increase AGI as well as Life Insurance effect. There's also a chance of obtaining a custom currency. This helps a lot when farming.
Soul System: The server has a whole list of custom PVM only skills that is based around a custom Soul system. Players obtain souls from killing any monster within 30 base levels of the character, with the souls bounded to the last monster that dropped it. Usage ranges from a +10 all stats buff, summoning the monster that your souls are bounded to, calling for favours from a time god on a 12 hour cooldown which either acts like a Bloody Branch or places you in a solo puzzle instance for rewards, and etc.
Dual Class: Now this is something I really like. Past level 100, you have the option to purchase a second class and the game allows you to change between them on a rather short cooldown. This opens up a lot of gameplay options. You can have different classes to cover different roles in PVM, have one character contain a PVM and PVP class, or even have two of the same classes with completely different builds. Note that buffs are removed upon class changing so you won't be able to pull off EDP Cart Cannon or anything of the sort  /heh
Baby Classes: Aside from having a teeny tiny sprite, any character have the option to change into a baby at the beginning of the game with none of the official drawbacks. They're just as strong as any adult adventurers.
Storage: The server does not have @storage feature, but it does have something close to it. Once you collect 100 Kafra Cards (official item that calls your storage from anywhere), you may unlock the Call Storage skill for the whole account. Each account also have 5 storage boxes by default, with each having a slot limit of 600 with rename capabilities. Good news for you hoarders out there!
Copycat: This feature is a godsent to all those Shadow Chasers out there. You can visit an NPC in the main town that allows you to change your Plagiarized and Reproduced skills as you wish, or access it through a command from anywhere at the cost of a few minutes cooldown so that you can't just swap between multiple high impact skills on the fly.
The amount of customizations are just massive. There's also custom achievements on top of official ones, several hunting and reward NPCs, a unified NPC for all your instances needs, jRO alternate outfits, beginner rental weapons, level up boxes, several slotmachines, hourly rewards and more. There's also the Homunculus Storage feature which have been put on hold for awhile due to a bug, but it will definitely make a return and it'll allow Genes to store and switch between several Homunculus setups. And there's always more coming!

Stability & Protection     9/10
The server is pretty stable with DDoS protection and Gepard Shield enabled. Crashes are rather infrequent. I'd say the uptime is around 97% of the time and crashes usually gets resolved in minutes. The hosting had been moved to OVH Canada recently, and I've had no lag and improved load times since (from Malaysia). It was previously hosted by Colocrossing in Buffalo, New York.
Gameplay     9/10
The server is pretty accessible for new and old players alike. Leveling doesn't really get heavy until you get near the cap, but it still requires enough time and work to max out. The server have a mix of items from kRO and also some jRO items that had made its way to official servers, alongside of having additional socket enchantable items available in jRO which includes the likes of some Morpheus and Morrigane set pieces, Battle Hook, War Axe and etc.

The addition of Copycat NPC, jRO gears and Nightmare Biolab headgears really helps brings out more viable builds and strategies. Skills and gameplay mechanics are also largely up to date with kRO. Multihit critical update, Rolling Cutter key-holding, Rune Knight runes update, Madogear update, Homunculus update, you name it. AzzyAI is also included by default.
There's also a nice balance between soloability and party requirements. There's a bunch of content that can be doable solo, so casual players won't get stuck. However, partying always makes things smoother and some contents are really hard without partying up, even near impossible. Healing items with cooldowns now only applies their cooldown in PvP, BG and WoE so things such as Raffle Saps aren't useless waste of item IDs anymore in PVM.

Warper and Healer NPCs are available in all towns, along with an expanded Kafra and an expanded Tool Dealer so that you don't have to run around to different locations to buy stuff. Most NPC sold catalysts and class requirements can be accessed in the central plaza of the main town. The Healer removes most pre-3rd status effects, and grants Blessing and Increase AGI. The Warper grants access to almost every map in the game, along with @go command to quickly move to towns and @warp command to move to specific maps which does admittedly kill off some roaming aspect. However, that doesn't stop anyone from doing so.

Gramps had also been changed. He doesn't provide a simple mindless map anymore. Instead, monsters he designate as his 400 kills target gets a boosted spawn rate and he offers a direct warp to the most suitable real game map to hunt them in. The target changes every 3 days and this can create some potential farming chances if you keep a close watch on his missions.
Economy     9/10
The economy is generally pretty established. Cash Points can be change to and fro with Moon Coins, which is one of the main currency hand-in-hand with Zeny, with trades being done with one or the other or both. Another big currency is the in game only Moonlight Coin which can also be turned one-way into Cash Points or used in the Lucky 3 Slotmachine for prizes. Cash Points and Moon Coins are obtainable in game, and most of the items in the Cash Shop can be obtained through various ways in game as well. The Cash Shop only really eases refines from my point of view since it does sell HD metals that has the same rates as normal metals, doesn't break gears and reduces refine by 1 instead upon failure. But these HD metals are obtainable through gameplay as well. Heck, there are even more potent refine materials that are obtainable through ingame sources only. Same as the gears. They're good if you wanna spend to have an edge and start out in the server with mid-end or lower end-game gears, but the best stuff must be worked for in game. If it's pay2win, I'd have been long gone so... /heh
WoE/PvP/BG     8/10
Due to having a lot of gears choices available, power creep is bound to happen. However, the WoE reductions have been kicked up a notch to 80% across the board (ranged reductions were untouched) so there would rarely be cases where people are done in by oneshots unless if the gear gap between the attacker and the receiver is too big or if the receiver goes full retard and have no reductions whatsoever. These reductions are applied to all player-versus-player modes so it's easier to strategize and test builds and makes for a more balanced PvP and BG. There are also custom changes for example towards True biolabs card so that you can only stack 2 of them in these settings. However, the server does need more guild to have a healthier WoE scene since currently there's only two sides to WoE. Oh and I should mention that the WoE reward system have been revamped. There's no more of those crappy treasure chests. Instead, random participants gets chosen for highly improved reward chests each day at 12am server time, drawn from a separate list between castle owners and other participants. Every participant also automatically gets additional Moonlight Coins everyday. Beats getting slotted Manteaus. In Renewal. /...
Community     7/10
Aside from WoE related salt (/heh), the community is pretty nice and helpful. However, there is a major gap in player timezones since the server houses players majorly from Asia and the Americas with some from Europe and Australia. Outside the game, the forum is pretty empty since everyone simply uses the Discord server. The server could use more players though, which is the only reason for the lower score but this can change.
Staff     9/10
Now the staff team is one of the best I've had the chance to know in any server I've played. The team is led by husband-and-wife admin team, with help from some Support GMs whenever they're asleep or something. Most of the contents are self developed by Lunar, the Admin. From my experience, they're generally a pretty friendly bunch and interacts with players frequently.
Events     7/10
Aside from automated events, there are also seasonal events. These seasonal events are mostly modeled after the World Boss feature however. Just with some added quirks! The Halloween boss turned everyone into Novices and everyone have to scramble to whack the boss with it teleporting players to and away from it followed by instant kill attacks within a certain range. The Winter boss turns everyone into a 1st job class with only basic weapons and a single offensive skill while occasionally turning some players into mindless minions of the boss. Aside from the bosses, there's also seasonal daily rewards and seasonal world drops that can be exchanged for exclusive rewards. Automated events range from a simple (actually hard as hell) Trivia, a Safe Portal event where players scramble to enter portals spawning in the area, Undead Assault where everyone turns into Gunslingers and have to survive waves of undead mobs, and a repurposed Halloween boss. There's also scheduled Gramps and Battlegrounds Happy Hours. However, the server does lack GM and community held events which is a shame really.

Overall Score: 8.3/10
All in all, it's a pretty dang fun server and one I plan to stay in right now. If there's anyone who's tired of the same old contents shared between the thousands and thousands of servers, private and officials alike, head on over this way and join our community. Heck even if you're a first timer to Renewal, just come over and try it out. You might just like it!
Server Reviews / DreamerRO server - Review
« Last post by Nahmei on Dec 09, 2017, 06:26 AM »

I have decided to make a review based on my experience. I've been playing ragnarok for over 5 years on and off.
I'm more into pre-renewal servers, so DRO's recent renewal change is new to me.

Before anything, I post below some basic info so you would understand my review in a better way.

  • DRO is High rate.
  • DRO changed to renewal from pre-re this november.
  • DRO has been up and running for over 8 years
  • I started playing 2 years ago.
  • I went on a hiatus for around 4 months.
  • I've tried most features.
  • DRO has so many custom items/features.

Alright, now that's done, let me start.

1. Availability / Stability
In the past few months, dRO has been up with barely any down times. There are times when the server has to be restarted to fix bugs etc etc, but that's fine as it helps the community. I recently found out that the server has a DDOS protection and that's a really a good feature for me.

There are times when it's laggy, but this is rare even with my pitiful internet connection.

2. The Client
I've reinstalled the client 4 times and I've never had any issues with it.
My only issue with this is that there's no lite client right now when there used to be one during the pre-renewal period.
A bit of meticulousness, I like the loading screens. They're visually appealing.

3. The server rate : HIGH RATE
Before DRO, I used to play in servers with 2 different rates: Mid and High rate.
Preferred mid rate over high rate simply because of the grind that isn't too easy.
Here in DRO, it feels just like that.
The drop rate is high but with the quest and grind, it certainly feels like a mid-rate.
Leveling is easy, can be done in less than an hour, even less than 30 minutes if you're really into it.
They have maps for leveling, makes it easier.

4. Difficulty level
I'm going to divide this into two.

Newbie's perspective:
If you think that being in a high rate server will ease your life, boy you are wrong.
DRO is somehow grindy. You have to farm a lot if you want to gain zeny.
You have to kill hard if you want a better weapon.
DRO is going to be difficult for a Newbie who is absolutely clueless about anything.
Good thing their forum offers so many guides about how to start.
The best thing about this is that when you're in game, you can ask players and they will help you.

When I was new, I spent months doing anything but the main quest to try and get zeny.
I wasted a lot of time when all I had to do was read and ask. It helped me a lot. Trust me.

Times have changed and now, they give a free 30 day set for players (Called Returner's set = Donation effect, surprisingly good, does not include weapon though!), and the achievement system which would help them get started.

Veteran's perspective:
Been here for 2 years, that should be enough time to be considered as a veteran. If not, just consider me an old player.
If you know the tricks, everything is easy. I tried playing in a new account and since I knew the tricks, it was easy to get by.

5. The community:
The community is mostly Asian. Sometimes there are players from the west. (From my observation because I'm not awake during western time.)
It's a nice community. Most times, you just have to ask in Caspen (the main city) and you'll be answered.
The presence of the channels lets you ask the whole server; from what I see lately, players answer.
Some players help you kill Draconus (A custom MVP that drops a scale needed for Hero quest).
Some players give you items. Some players invite you to their social guilds, etc etc.

But all this depends on your timing. Sometimes some players will treat you badly but don't ever feel bad and think of this as a reason to leave the server.
This server is the nicest I've been. It's been the most helpful and most accommodating.
I wouldn't have stayed this long if it wasn't for the people who helped me when I was new.
Some of them gave me basic loots, some of them showed me their MVP equipment, some of them hosted their own events just to help newbies.
There even are newbie guilds in here, all dedicated to helping new players. My advice? Join one of those as they'll really help you with the basics.
Once you've grown, move on to the bigger leagues, to the pvp and woe guilds.
Sometimes all it takes is to say hello and not beg and you get yourself a friend that might help you throughout.

6. The Staff team
Support players: Yes. The server has support players. These are players who are assigned a position in the staff team without any special permissions.
They're players who were hired to help you. Yes, that's basically what they do. They answer a special feature called the @request, where players can ask their questions. When I was new, they were the people who guided me. They're helpful, the only issue is that they're not as many as they were before. Even so, just ask in the channels and someone is bound to answer you anyway. There are active ones though, dedicated even if they're not paid for this.

Game Masters: Honestly, I don't see them in Caspen (Main city) that much.
They do host manual events regularly but you won't see them hanging out in the cities.
Support players have more presence but even so, GMs do more in the dark. I haven't had any issue with any GMs, never been banned, so I can't say anything about how punishment goes.

7. The Economy
It's bad for someone who's starting from nothing. Some veterans control the prices and sell them in a high price. This is annoying and should be controlled.
Since the server recently moved to renewal, some items are more expensive than it was. Some are cheaper. The prices vary depending on the seller. Examples are cards like Kiel and Addax, which are cheaper this time.
Making money is a difficult task if you don't grind. You have to farm, hunt, sell, be patient and be hardworking. Once you get the hang of it, the rewards are worth it.

8. Events: A lot
The server has automated events. The GMs also host sometimes. These events give out tickets that lets you trade them for some good items too. And with the addition of the achievement system, you'll get extra billions by winning for the first time. No issue here.

They also have seasonal events, where there are more contents for the users. I personally enjoy the seasonal events. I look forward to it. Bit excited for the Christmas event actually. Last year was a blast, I'm hoping this year will be too. The staff team was generous last year, it was really that wonderful time of the year. They gave so much, there even were donation items. It was my most memorable event. During seasonal events too, they do a raffle that gives you a chance to get an item that will help you in your PVP endeavors. My only issue? There's a 6 month gap in between. There's 6 continuous months of drought. These seasonal events happen during january, april, november and december. Many players look forward to seasonal events, as they're extremely helpful to the players. Veterans and newbies alike farm for the items. There's equal ground in here.

9. Custom items.
Headgears, weapons, equipments and even pets. All these are balanced in my opinion. It's not a pay to win server. The server gives you the option to vote and get donate-tier items. There are also tradable donation headgears which you can just buy from other players using zeny. If you're the supportive and capable type, the server also lets you donate (which is used to support the server) and in exchange, you get credits that you can use to buy donation items that in my opinion, is balanced. These two will be helpful if you want to get in the PVP scene. None of these cause crippling cancer to the server.

The server also has questable items, the best ones are available during seasonal events and they're really helpful to players.

The server also offers shops where the currency used can be acquired from doing PVP-related activities. DM shops both from killing and doing quests, Combat shops, Forged items and etc etc.

10. Mining and Forging.
This is my favorite feature so far, because it's going to make me rich! I've heard so many players say that they've become rich all from mining and forging. I've told someone to try mining and he did and now he's richer than me. It'll take a lot of your time to reach a high level but once you reached this, you're on your way to profit. This feature lets you forge items from the minerals you've gathered from mining. This is the only server that I know where mining works like this. I like it very much.

11. General idea of customization
It's a lot. DRO is like stepping in another world of RO. Every customization was such a wonder to explore. Even when I'm no longer new, I always look forward to the donation rotation, the items that will be added, the events to be done, every new feature makes me feel what I did when I was new.

12. Achievement system
New? This will help you! It gives rewards by just exploring the features that the server offers. I believe I have mentioned this before?
This system is new but has been helpful so far.

13. The forums
GUIDES. Yeep. This is where I went when I had nothing else to do, and it showed me things to do. It's amazing how the community decided to help each other through these. Extremely helpful.

14. PVP
It's currently between 3-5 guilds right now. I see players challenging the whole server to kill them in the PVP arenas. I used to be very active in this. During that time, you won't be able to survive without a party. Going solo is suicide. It's tough like that. With the amount of old players (meaning they're geared) roaming the arenas, it would be like walking into a lion's den. This is why you have to be prepared and geared whenever you step in the arenas. It's a tough competition. It'll take time and friends or a party, to get in par with these guys. Also, personal experience! Don't choose AB as your first class. AB is expensive to gear and since heals are helpful, some PVP guilds will use you without giving you anything in return. No salary, no kills even from party share (Another feature that lets you share kills between your party members, equally).

15. WoE
I don't feel it. Used to have 2-3 guilds fighting for that emperium. I used to play for WoE guilds and it was so crazy, it was good. Everything was happening all at once. It was so fun, the feeling of healing the breaker as he tries to break that emperium as the enemy tries to kill you, the devo and him, Oh my! Then it stopped.
WoE is dead right now. It's reality. No brave soul wants to try because the enemy guilds are far too strong. The rewards are too good though! There are requirements to start a WoE guild. They take a while to collect. I hope they remove this and update WoE.

16. Balance
Long ago all classes lived in balance, and they still kinda do lol, this isn't the last air bender lol. I say there are more balancing to be done because of the recent renewal shift. It's moving so you don't have to worry about OP classes. I think the balancing is going great and so far, things will soon be just like what it was in the pre-renewal era.

17. Renewal
The server was previously pre-renewal. Now it's renewal. The amount of work that the staff team placed on this update is tremendous. This is/will be my first renewal server. I've only been to pre-renewal servers. With this comes the option of enabling the quests available in the original RO servers, which I hope they'll come to do someday. Kudos to all who have helped make this happen, you guys deserve all the praise.

18. Hero quest / Elite hero quest.
It's the server's main quest. Unique. With just enough dedication, you'll be able to get the best weapon in the server. I've never seen this in other servers. It's one of those custom quests made specifically for this server. It gives you a goal. Most players including myself treat this as our goal.

19. Updates
Regularly happens. Shop rotations, new features, buffs, nerfs, and even new items.
I don't always agree with everything but I'm leaving that out of my review.

So... Why should I try this server?
My dear, you're in for a treat. This server is an adventure you'll want to try. I enjoyed my time even if there were negativities.
There's always a new feature. Updates happen a lot. The staff is dedicated. They work in the shadows while we enjoy the light.
It's not always butterflies and rainbows, just like how it goes in real life.
I've seen players quit and come back. DRO is the type of server you'll always come back to.
DRO is an experience I'll keep, it may also be an experience for you to try. :)

This is the server's website: http://www.playdreamerro.com/

If you want to try this server, and have questions, you can PM me here. I'll try my best to reply.  /ok

Hope to see you?  /lv

If you didn't give a reason to why some of those category scores deserve the points you gave, we can either delete your review for not explaining your score or normalize the score but keep the review so to be fair on both sides.  Depend on the content of the review (if it is helpful to other readers, sharing your experience or it is merely written out of hate), one of the above action will be taken to protect the system.  For example, if you gave 1/10 in guild competition but fail to mention anything about it then reasonably that part of the server should have a fair score on its review.

If you don't like the normalized score, you are free to delete your review in the user panel and write one that is within our review guidelines.

Hello, I am new to the forums so please forgive me if I have missed something here. I am a long time fan and player of Ragnarok Online and wanted to share a review about a server I have had displeasure with, I posted the review and while not a positive review, I believe it to be honest. I thought I would check to see the response given by the server owner as i noticed they are allowed to respond and noticed that the numbers I had given on the review have gone up.

I know I didn't do this so I was wondering if one of the mods or perhaps someone with access to edit the reviews could please tell me why the review was changed?

To clarify, The server rating I had given was in the early 20's and now it appears to be 38? I am referring to my review on the server LimitRO

This .. Selene?  the guild leader? Let me see ... Alchemist / Creator image comes into mind  /hmm
A couple friends and I are feeling nostalgic again and want to look for a mid-rate, pre-renewal server max levels 99/70 trans.
We live in Canada so hopefully a server close by. A few customs are fine but nothing overpowered. Anyone have any suggestions?
