0.1: Introduction

The Vanilmirth, a.k.a. the "jello" or "ugly fly" homunculus. The Vanilmirth is the most versatile, well-known homunculus of all four due to its powerful damage output and its average defense. Though not as good of a tank as Amistr, the Vanilmirth is capable of taking a few hits, dodging some, and striking its opponents down with a powerful elemental bolt.

Vanilmirths eat Scell, dropped by Cruiser, or bought in Geffen fairly cheap. For an AI, I recommend Ariafortis' AI, a very manual AI but very useful. I find it to be the most superior AI available, moreso than mirAI, etc. Remember to type /hoai to activate it, and when making changes to the AI's structure, logging and relogging is imperative or else it won't activate the edits.

Feeding is also imperative, or your homunculus will run away and you'll need to make a new one. Feed your homunculus once between 11 and 25 to boost its intimacy, thus progressing towards evolution and higher stats / a different sprite. Remember to put your homunculus in "Rest" before using @autotrade or the timer will continue to count down, and after a few minutes, your homunculus will disappear forever!

Like all homunculi, the Vanilmirth comes in two forms. The first form, the "jello", looks like this:

It is typically the most favourable form, although neither version has an advantage over the other. Regardless its sprite, the homunculus will develop in the same, irrational way as the other version.

The less popular form, the "ugly fly", looks like this:

It is still a mystery why Gravity decided to introduce disgusting-looking homunculi as alternatives.

A good PvP/PvM Vanilmirth must focus on the following stats (in order of Priority->Obsolete):

1) INT (& SP)
2) VIT (& HP)
3) AGI
4) DEX
5) STR
6) LUK

INT affects MATK, which is the main damage of the Vanilmirth. Higher SP means less targetting for pots, which is always good in an MvP situation.

VIT for higher DEF and higher HP, of course. As mentioned before, the Amistr succeeds the Vanilmirth in terms of tanking abilities; however, the Vanilmirth isn't mediocre in the field at all, and can easily rack up 10,000HP+.

AGI comes afterwards. Again, this aides in the defense portion of the Vanilmirth. The less you get hit, the less damage you take. In PvP, AGI is pointless; in PvM, though, it's very useful and shouldn't be taken lightly.

DEX is fourth and deserves its spot. It's inevitable that you're going to physically attack between Caprices, be it accidental or not, and when you do, you want it to hit the opponent even if their Flee is high. Like AGI, this means nothing in PvP, as you should be spamming Caprice as if your life depended on it - unless you're using your Vanilmirth as a distraction on characters lacking Endure. In that case, you should be spamming Acid Demonstration (or whatever your style is.) Since Magic doesn't rely on Hit, DEX is obsolete.

STR is second-to-last, due to the lack of requiring it overall. You should be spamming Caprice, and shouldn't be physically attacking too often. If, however, your style is conserving pots, STR may be higher on the priority list than it's placed here. In general, though, STR can ultimately be ignored.

LUK is useless for all homunculi due to their inability to land CRITs. That's why when you get a homunculi with "Amazing" LUK, it's extremely disappointing. When checking stats on sites such as Doddler (Calculator) (Alternate Calculator), ignore LUK altogether.

0.2: Skills

Caprice

The main MATK attack of the Vanilmirth, Caprice lets out powerful and devastating bolts of the four main elements - Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind. The downside is that you can't select which element you want to use.

Chaotic Benediction

This skill permits the homunculus to heal either itself, its opponent, or its owner at random. Again, the inability to select the target is a downside, but it can be useful if you suddenly run out of White Potions, but have tons of Blue Potions available.

Change Instruction

A key skill of the Vanilmirth, Change Instruction should be maxed out at Level 30 for accurate calculation. This skill increases the base STR and INT of a Vanilmirth permanently.

Bio Explosion
*Evolution Skill*

When evolved, the Vanilmirth can erupt into a powerful explosion that devastates enemies in a 9x9 diameter of itself. When used, the friendliness of the Vanilmirth drops to zero, and you'll need to feed it back to Loyal again. The attack deals more damage based on the Vanilmirth's max HP.

0.3: Stats & Expectations

Although many people can and will debate on deleting a homunculi too early, if a Vanilmirth begins sucking at the beginning, it's a 50-50 indicator of it sucking all the way to 99 - unlike the Filir, whose stats are so limited that you can officially tell if it will be inferior to standards at level 99 by level 40.

Generally, the rule of thumb I go by (with Change Instruction maxed), is:

Level 30: 130+MATK
Level 50: 300+MATK
Level 70: 500+MATK
Level 92: 800+MATK

Do note that this is a considerably good homunculus that is above average overall. The average homunculus has 600-750MATK at level 99 (evolved). If your homunculus does not acquire 800+MATK minimum by 99, then it should be erased. It's garbage. Start over again until you obtain a real one.

You should be aiming for the best. To do so, you should be expecting 900MATK at level 90. This leaves room for several jumps that will permit you to advance to the coveted pre-evolution of 140+5INT, and the evolved 150+5INT, or around 1,100MATK. When you evolve a homunculus, the stat gain is random, so don't be too disappointed if you don't gain 10INT as your homunculus is badass enough already.

As mentioned early, INT is important, but it's not everything. If all your other stats suck, but your INT is astounding, you might want to reconsider restarting on another one, pending your play style. A well-rounded homunculus with high MATK is preferable to one with incredible MATK and crappy everything else.

0.4: Leveling Spots

Due to the aforementioned versatile nature of the Vanilmirth, leveling is easy and can be done in a variety of areas.

The way I generally do it is:

Level 1-10: Drops/Porings/Lunatics (pay_fild08)
Level 11-20: Rockers (pay_fild07)
Level 21-25: Poporings/Zombies (pay_dun00)
Level 26-55: Metalings (lhz_fild01)
Level 56-80: High Orcs (gef_fild14)
Level 81-99: Deviruchis/Marionettes/Nightmares (gef_dun02)

However, some people take to Orc Dungeon, Toy Factory, and other areas for leveling. I've just found that these areas have worked for me.

0.5: Conclusion

Thus, the Vanilmirth is interesting for both PvM, PvP, and MvP. Its flexible stats and strengths make it a great candidate for grinding items repetitively - such as Stems and 'Shrooms - as well as for hunting equipement and consumables such as Mastela and Infiltrators. Its all-around nature with a high damage MDEF-reduced attack isn't a force to pass aside and should be dealt with skilfully, especially for Sinxs as homunculi are all equipped with the Maya Purple Card ability. Pending your style (this guide leaning towards PvM, I must say), stats could change, and you may prefer some stats over others contrary to what's advised here; however, regardless your playing style, you're sure to be successful with your little blob or garbage fly Pokémon.

I agree with Moscovia. It's easy to level because of the Les (They're low on HP and gives a relatively high amount of experience) = Yummy :3

Neat @ moscavia point there is a spot on top right corner where les spawns the most people sit there alot for hom lvlng.

Yeah, it's by the Level 2 warp, if I remember right. I see Creators squatting there often.

Yes, this is Pre-Renewal.

I don't personally know what the Renewal stats would be in comparison to these - I don't think it's really been experimented with / figured out / balanced out yet.

3 things I needa say:

1: You're forgetting the multi-colored slug-like Vanilmirth.
2: Do you know how the Stone of Sage iten works with these?
3: Thanks for the guide! It helps!
Sing like it's the last song you'll ever sing.

1) The fly-like is the evolution of the rainbow slug Vanilmirth; just as I didn't put a .gif of the jello cube, I didn't put the slug and in place put their evolutions. I would have put both, but I only found decent quality .gifs of their evolutions.

2) At "Loyal" (911 intimacy), double-clicking the Stone of Sage in your inventory will automatically evolve your homunculus.

3) No problem!
