Title: Creative Editing: Simplified Effects (Wiz)
Post by: bleu on Jul 08, 2009, 12:26 PM
Ever wanted a less complex version of Storm Gust where you can actually see something instead of just a white screen. Ever wanted to prevent your screen from shaking in the presence of Meteor Storm and Lord of Vermillion. Doing them all without having to completely turn off /effect and risking not being able to see Safety Wall, Pneuma, enemy stalker's foot prints, etc. Simplified effects also helps your computer to run smoother especially when there's lots of skill spamming and effects going on especially during an intense WOE.

1. Download and install the necessary programs below:

Download Free RAR Extract Frog (http://www.philipp-winterberg.com/software/free_rar_extract_frog.php)

2. Download the simplified effects from any of the followings:

uploading.com (http://uploading.com/files/CQXJ1T0R/wizmineffect.rar) (Mirror 1)
Rapidshare (http://rapidshare.com/files/255324507/wizmineffect.rar) (Mirror 2)

Storm Gust
stormgust.str
storm gust.str
storm_min.str
0storm.bmp

Meteor Storm
meteor1.str
meteor2.str
meteor3.str
meteor4.str
0lordbl.bmp

Lord of Vermillion
lord.str
0lordbl.bmp
0lordst.bmp

3. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the data folder is in the same directory as your RO
Create the following folder:
C:\Gravity\RO\data\texture\effect

4. Copy the extracted files and paste them in the newly created folder.

5. FINITO! Just load RO and enjoy the simplified effects for Storm Gust, Meteor Storm and Lord of Vermillion. Please note that these changes will affect your screen only and other players will not be affected by them.

Pretty nice and all, but don't you think you edited out a bit too much on the storm gust?

I think that is just an example. I see that all replacement effects are used ingame so I suppose you could extract some other from client and replace.

Hello, I need to know which files that define the sprites of the following skills:

A Poem of Bragi
Acid Demonstration
Fury
Heaven's Drive
Others who make the screen flicker
Links (in character)
Assumption (in character)
Cloaking
Hiding
Chase Walk

Grateful, sorry for my bad english.

Simply amazing. This is very neat. Though I wonder, If this could edit out Champ's Fury skill? It's really annoying if people spam it.  :(

i agree with the champ's fury. There must be a way of removing the shake effect :)

No promises. Let me see what I can do about that "Fury".

But I do have an anti shake from Hammer Fall; a Blacksmith skill.

Is it possible that you can upload a file that only stop the shaking of the screen and all other effects stay the same?
Oh can you simplify jupiter thunder? maybe make a smaller ball of thunder so that you can still see your health bar while being jupiter thundered, quite annoying not to be able to see your health bar. Is there like a guide on how you simplify these effects?

Keep up the good work =)

Awesome. Helped me a lot to kill those annoying SG spammers  >:(

Loljk.

It really works, but you should fix something. Just a typo
Create the following folder:
C:\Gravity\RO\data\texture\effects

If i'm not wrong, the folder's name its "effect", not effects.

Good luck, and keep writing guides like this. I just love them :D

Oh, and try to add a mediafire mirror. Modem users aren't able to download from rapidshare or uploading.com. at least from where i live D:

Each effect has each own file(s). Some of them are str, others spr, act and some can be only bmp, tga.
Most movement of effects (e.g. rotating aura) are defined in exe and its "impossible" to edit them.
And to make matters worse, some effect uses same files as another ones (e.g. Slow grace/Please dont forget me = Whirlwind/Violent Gate or Deluge = Aura ring = Warp portal = Warp, ...)
And to make it even worse, most of effects are completly inappropriately named (e.g. Magnetic Earth/Land Protector = aaa copy.bmp - yes, its only one file. Moving of this picture is specified in exe as I said)

JT - data\texture\effect\thunder_ball_*.bmp
Meteor Assault - IDK, but it should be data\texture\effect\magic_violet.tga or data\texture\effect\ring_purple.tga or maybe same as Soul Destroyer/Soul Breaker

You should extract files from texture\effect\ from sdata.grf there are all effects.
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Simplified Effects (Wiz)
Post by: butterball28 on Oct 31, 2010, 10:38 PM
@Nekac1: I found the JT.bmp.. it has 6 images and i tried to edit it with a simple picture that would let me see players clearly but when i tried it. it has no effect... i extracted it from data.grf then pasted it on the folder along with SG,LOV,MS str files.

wiew... anyways i find this simplified effect not simplified during woe... cos in woe about 50++ people could be in your screen and when you use your /effect you still can't see clearly on your screen because of other effects not simplified by other jobs I hope someone will post more simplified effects xD
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Simplified Effects (Wiz)
Post by: Zereges on Nov 01, 2010, 12:57 AM
Most of guilds creates simplified effects for their own guild and dont let grf out.
As I said, thunder should be thunder_ball_*.bmp, try to copy this (http://osd.tym.cz/thunder.rar) to your data folder and after that, find these files in data.grf, extract them and edit them.

If you want to play RO w/ effects, you can try RCX.

anyone know the sprite for kaite effect? The wave effect
Kaite has no sprite. That waving is defined in exe. Its same problem as Stone Cursed player or Assumptio

The radius of the aoe effect.
This is "data\texture\effect\magic_target.tga"

ah thank you, this is really wierd as how its a picture of a cloud and nothing like the actual in game animation itself :(, i thought it was line.bmp or something like that since it acutally looks like the line u see on the screen

do you have a master list which you reference to find these? how did you came to know which files effect which skills just curious.

also do you know the sprite file for 3rd class aura? that thing is hella huge.

i think he might be asking the radius where the aoe effects, not the casting itself. i could be wrong. kind of how if you use rcx, and you use an aoe skill it highlights the effected tiles to purple or w/e color.... i dont know if there is a way to do this in the grf itself.

Hours and Hours spended in front of opened grf ...
Editing some files and going to game to find out what has changed.

IDK, My home server has no 3rd classes so I didn't dealed with it.

Yes, its possible, but without @refresh and only if you see when Aoe skill "drops" to land.
And you have to edit *.str files for AoE skills (MS, SG, LoV only possible), quite hard I think.
No possible way otherwise (And RCX is not so usefull in this case)

ic ty for all the help so far, it would be alot easier if these skills files werent so spread to akward places, like the cloud file example. who would have ever thought  ???

Of course it is possible

Spirit Sphere - data\texture\effect\thunder_center.bmp (idk if it is same as part of jupitel thunder but if think it's not)
Fury - data\texture\effect\super1-5.bmp ... (same as Mental Strength's and Eske's "electricity")

I am not great grafic, but if you edit Fury to make it little bit nicer I wont get angry :)

AFAIK, there is no converter, which allows you that kind of stuff. But str animation via strviewer is done by directx, so you can use fraps to record it.

Sorry I quited Ragnarok few months ago and I am not more doing grfs stuff. Anyway aill try to look

Heal effect consist of few mini effects, green aura around char (which depends on healed amount) and little circles flyiong around healed char.
Aura - \texture\effect\magic_green.tga
Little Circles - Ive found it once and I forget to memorize it/put it down. I thing its lost forever.
Some possibilities (I dont have option to try it, I dont have ragnarok now) - \texture\effect\ pikapika2.bmp, poison_f.bmp

You don't need to edit any file at the data.grf at all. Just make a new grf and edit the ini to make the new grf the 0 and the others the following ones.

I wanted this to work for me too, so i can turn /effect on during woe. I did the steps needed for Type I and didn't work. I also did the steps needed for the Type III, but then when  i try to alter the "data.ini" and start my RO, it says "Please don't modify our files." I've asked the gm if its legal to edit the files to change the effects and he said it is, so is there a way to edit it? Perhaps editing in data.grf? or atleast deleting LOV, SG, Meteor Storm's effects'?

If it is, i need to ask the gms first if its legal to edit data.grf .Btw im playing blackout RO, any help is pretty much appreciated.

I've been hoping to do the same thing with Ninja's lightning crash/raigekisai skill, which when spammed effectively creates a wall that's impossible to see through anywhere unless effects are turned off.

Problem is I haven't been able to find which file seems to contain the effects, I suspect it's a str but I haven't been able to find a copy of strviewer anywhere online. So...

A) Does anyone have a copy of STRviewer I could nab? And/or...
B) Anyone know which file contains data for Lightning Crash/Raigekisai?

Okay so I'm playing this 99/50 server which has FE WoE only (cant use RCX). Can I ask, is it possible to make a simplified grf that looks like RCX (atleast colored cells on the ground)? I'm done asking for my little brother to do grf editing for me, i'd like to learn this on my own. Help :x

Skills i need to simplify

Meteor Storm (1 cell)
Storm Gust (AoE hitbox)
Poem of Bragi (AoE box)
Apple of Idun (AoE box)
Assassin Sunset(AoE box)
Please don't forget me (AoE box)
Quagmire (AoE box)
Land Protect (AoE box)
Pnuema (1 cell)
Safety Wall (1 cell)
Sanctuary (AoE box)
Grand Cross (AoE hitbox)

Most used skills that has a ground effect / skills that "make s*** appear"

I already have the colors i want, i just need help on how to edit them :x Thanks in advance

It is possible on most cases. You can let them look like a rcx feature. But I can tell you that this will be a massive time investigation. You need to find out the file names of every skill, cut them out or change them to you prefered sprite which you need to create for every skill because nobody has such stuff around and need to cut the whole str file. The str file edit is necessary to cut any movement from sprites which means the land protector sprite just would stand still like in rcx at the end of the day.

I guess I would need about 30 hrs to make it perfect. But I have no need for it and no reason to spend more then a whole day for nothing but a balikRo grf. Balik is dead and I lost the interest on pre-trans.

The only sprites which you could get trouble with are on the hdata.grf
Also foot prints and the hidinf sprites (smoke act/spr) are restricted.

internal guard says it detected illegal file ...date\texture\effect\.. what can i do so i still get the simplified effects without internal guard blocking it.

Post by: exii on Jul 13, 2014, 01:57 PM
Internal Guard is a s*** protection. Easy to bypass and it blocks really everything if not. Getting some different cast circles? FORGET IT! COULD BE A CHEAT DJASKLDJASLJ
The moron who developed didn't play ragnarok for a single time.

So if you don't know how to bypass I wouldn't play a server with internal guard except the admin made some costumizations on it like on playro.

This happen when you try to put it in a data folder. Work with grfs.
And this has nothing to do with scripts. Learn2differ.

sir,im new here and i was wondering how to remove the shake effect of the specific skill ex. Acid Demonstration without changing it's normal effect just the screen shake?

i just like your simplified effects on LOV SG and MS...
though i want the normal effects of LOV and MS to be normal but with no screen shake.
is it possible?
and is it teachable?
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Simplified Effects (Wiz)
Post by: Wyvern on Aug 19, 2014, 12:07 PM
You could remove all shaking via a client hex edit, or a few by editing certain files in the data folder (at least for Heaven Drive's shake and maybe Hammer Fall), but I can't remember what files are needed for that. I would not recommend doing any of these if the server doesn't permit it, however (I assume they would have protection against that if they didn't allow).
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Simplified Effects (Wiz)
Post by: bgmu on Aug 19, 2014, 08:01 PM
I don't think that the topic starter used a hex editing thingy...
I already have strviewer and i was trying my best to edit something bout it...
I just need some advice or even a finished product of no shake screen effect of
Heaven's Drive, Fury/Critical Explosion, Acid Demonstration?
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Simplified Effects (Wiz)
Post by: Triper on Aug 19, 2014, 09:30 PM
Note - To someone that knows that made it. There is no need to double post the same thing with just some hours of delay. If you're doing that, something is wrong with you, being an attention whore won't get you far, just make people ignore you.

@bgmu: the shake is either done by hex edit or by editing the act files of the animations, if you don't know nothing about that, don't touch them, you will get errors, a lot of them.

The only one that I know is through patching the exe to disable it but some servers have software that check exes and prevent you from logging there with it :(

Ever wanted a less complex version of Storm Gust where you can actually see something instead of just a white screen. Ever wanted to prevent your screen from shaking in the presence of Meteor Storm and Lord of Vermillion. Doing them all without having to completely turn off /effect and risking not being able to see Safety Wall, Pneuma, enemy stalker's foot prints, etc. Simplified effects also helps your computer to run smoother especially when there's lots of skill spamming and effects going on especially during an intense WOE.

1. Download and install the necessary programs below:

Download Free RAR Extract Frog (http://www.philipp-winterberg.com/software/free_rar_extract_frog.php)

2. Download the simplified effects from any of the followings:

uploading.com (http://uploading.com/files/CQXJ1T0R/wizmineffect.rar) (Mirror 1)
Rapidshare (http://rapidshare.com/files/255324507/wizmineffect.rar) (Mirror 2)

Storm Gust
stormgust.str
storm gust.str
storm_min.str
0storm.bmp

Meteor Storm
meteor1.str
meteor2.str
meteor3.str
meteor4.str
0lordbl.bmp

Lord of Vermillion
lord.str
0lordbl.bmp
0lordst.bmp

3. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the data folder is in the same directory as your RO
Create the following folder:
C:\Gravity\RO\data\texture\effect

4. Copy the extracted files and paste them in the newly created folder.

5. FINITO! Just load RO and enjoy the simplified effects for Storm Gust, Meteor Storm and Lord of Vermillion. Please note that these changes will affect your screen only and other players will not be affected by them.
