Title: Creative Editing: Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Post by: bleu on Mar 31, 2009, 02:32 AM
I will attempt to change the sprite of Mistress MVP to be displayed as Detale MVP instead.

Benefits:
-   Bigger MVP sprite means easier to use single target attack (e.g.: Asura). Less likely to mis-click and accidentally attacked the slave instead
-   Detale MVP also comes with lots of sound effects in various state: Idle, Standby, Chasing, etc... making it easier to locate the MVP. Even though, you may not be in visual range of the MVP; the loud noise that it continuously emits could be heard beyond the immediate screen.

1. Download and install the necessary programs below.

a. GrfBuilder (to extract data)
b. ROUnicode (convert Korean language to Unicode format)
c. Free RAR Extract Frog (to unpack .rar files)
d. Java SE Runtime Environment (to run .jar files; i.e. ROUnicode)

Download GRFBuilder and ROUnicode (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7D50THGP) (For this purpose SPR_Conview is not necessary)
Download Free RAR Extract Frog (http://www.philipp-winterberg.com/software/free_rar_extract_frog.php)
Download Java SE Runtime Environment (https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=j2re-1.4.2_19-oth-JPR@CDS-CDS_Developer)

2. Using GrfBuilder, Open sdata.grf (C:\Program Files\Ragray\sdata.grf)

3. Extract All the data to a temporary folder. (C:\MyTemporary).

4. Run ROUnicode and convert data from Korean language to Cp1252.

* If you do not see Korean characters, then you will require some setup to be able to display the characters. For Windows Vista (it should already support Korean language by default). For Windows XP,  check this (http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/handson/user/xpintlsupp.mspx#E4). For other platforms,  check this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Multilingual_support_(East_Asian)#Korean).

Before conversion (i.e. still in Korean language)

After conversion (i.e. in Cp1252/Unicode)

5. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the data folder is in the same directory as your RO
Create the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Ragray\data\sprite\¸ó½ºÅÍ
(http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii25/famiong/create_folderDetale.gif)

6. Under C:\MyTemporary \data\sprite\¸ó½ºÅÍ is where all monster SPR and ACT files can be found. Find the files detale.spr and detale.act.

7. Copy both the files detale.spr and detale.act and then paste them in  C:\Program Files\Ragray\data\sprite\¸ó½ºÅ͍
(http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii25/famiong/detale_02.gif)

8. IMPORTANT
Rename detale.spr and detale.act to mistress.spr and mistress.act respectively.

9.  FINITO! Just load RagnarokOnline, and find the Mistress MVP. She will appear instead as a Detale MVP on your screen only. (Other players will continue to see her as Mistress MVP aka a small bee). The sound effects and animation will follow Detale MVP, but the Mistress MVP skill, experience, HP, Stats, etc  will remain unchanged.

10. You could also change the slaves of Dark Lord (which looks almost similar but are known as Dark Illusions) into a less obvious monster- say a Picky.

This might be off/ontopic..

but as for a 'creative edit' would it be able to edit the sound of cloaked walking to the sound of an ant?

for example, Sinx eremes in bio3 cloaks and walks towards you, his footsteps are the sound of an ant.

or

in PvP, somebody cloaks and walks into my screen, I hear the sound of an ant and put up a safety wall.

"sound of an ant"? How does an ant sounds like? You mean like the sound effect made by Andre? Theoretically, I believe it's possible. The sound effect is controlled by the ACT file. You could edit the sound effect of Cloaking, which is None by default (don't think they make any sound), to say the rattling sound effects made by Andre.

The most sought after "Creative Edit", is what most would call the Maya Purple Hack. If you are able to identify the file for invisibility (which is just a blank hot pink image) and say change the color into something else - example: Black. So, instead of appearing "invisible", players/monsters cloaked or hidden will appear Black on your screen. The concept in theory is very similar to the creative edit which remove the visual effects of  Blindness (http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/guides-b/creative-editing-i-can-see-clearly-now/0/).

On very many servers though, this edit is banned.

The reason?  99% of the time the gm's will say "The card has a purpose, by doing this, you are making the card useless."

Also, this edit is not one that you can get away with.  People will notice the person who can see invisible's(cloaked players).
Most likely players will say it's a "hack", which it is in terms of you finding the file, modifying it and using it to "win" over other players.

Yeah I meant andre x_x..

and yeah, i knew about the maya purple edit.. but again it's illegal so i was wondering if sound could be an alternative.

Conversely, how do I detect these as a server admin, including the sprite edit featured in the OP?

You can't really detect it, unless you see a players hitting a small mob repeatedly with skills that is hiding between huge mobs, but it could be just player skill, other than that a player could send a screenie of him doing it, which I really doubt someone is stupid enough since doing this is like saying "BAN ME PLEASE!"

1 question where can I find the .spr of the Emperium in WOE?

A very good question. The direct method illustrated above will not allow you to edit the emperium. The emperium is not similar to other monsters in the game. It's a 3D image (data/model/3dmob/empelium90_0.gr2). Gravity uses a 3D program called Granny 3D SDK (http://www.radgametools.com/granny/sdk.html). Depending on what are your intentions, you may need to utilize a 3D editor program to edit the emperium.

I just want to make it bigger or change it to something easier to click.
In our server the emp is a little hard to click because of crowding.

If I may ask do you have any suggestions on what 3d editor I could use?
because I did a search and I think I found the object used for the emp its a .gr2 file
the only problem is I'm stuck with granny 3d which costs about $16k and I'm not willing to pay
that much just to modify an emp so If you have any suggestions it would really help alot

(http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/3606/screenrmstestserver023.jpg) (http://img7.imageshack.us/i/screenrmstestserver023.jpg/) (http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/screenrmstestserver023.jpg/1/w1440.png) (http://g.imageshack.us/img7/screenrmstestserver023.jpg/1/)

(http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/8334/screenrmstestserver022.jpg) (http://img362.imageshack.us/i/screenrmstestserver022.jpg/) (http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/screenrmstestserver022.jpg/1/w1440.png) (http://g.imageshack.us/img362/screenrmstestserver022.jpg/1/)

All 3D images are located in data/model/3dmob/, thus what I did was simply replace the file empelium90_0.gr2 with another 3D image file such as a Knight Guardian (kguardian90_7.gr2) or a Treasure Chest (treasurebox_2.gr2). Well it's hard to say that the emperium is BIGGER with a Knight Guardian 3D image but it's definitely taller.

(http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/4420/screenrmstestserver025.jpg) (http://img37.imageshack.us/i/screenrmstestserver025.jpg/) (http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/screenrmstestserver025.jpg/1/w1440.png) (http://g.imageshack.us/img37/screenrmstestserver025.jpg/1/)
However, a taller 3D image does not necessary mean you are able to target the upper portion of the Knight Guardian 3D image. (The sword icon does not appear even though I moved my cursor over the head of the Guardian) This implies the simple modification made above, does not change the actual size of the Emperium.

(http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/1231/screenrmstestserver026.jpg) (http://img266.imageshack.us/i/screenrmstestserver026.jpg/) (http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/screenrmstestserver026.jpg/1/w1440.png) (http://g.imageshack.us/img266/screenrmstestserver026.jpg/1/)
Although taller than an Emperium, a Guardian is "thinner" than an Emperium, thus visually occupying only one cell. An Emperium on the other hand, visually occupies 4 cells, thus "fatter". Now, with a "thinner" New Emperium, it's much easier to perform a controversial tactic known as standing inside the Emperium (http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/index.php/topic,9397.0.html). Why? Remember... on your screen the New Emperium is only one cell, thus you can walk and stand on the other 3 cells. While on other player's screen, those 3 cells are still occupied by the Emperium, thus not that easy to stand on it. Notice my cursor, it indicates a Sword icon even though I am just pointing at the floor (one of the three otherwise cells occupied by the Emperium). Although you don't see the Emperium, it is there - it's size did not change- it's still fatter and of average height.

According to this thread (http://www.eathena.ws/board/index.php?showtopic=150330) on eA forum, you can convert a 3D model into a 2D model using Xray, the topic starter wanted to change the Emperium into a Poring. I suppose, you could use the same method to change the Emperium into a Satan Morroc sprite (which is bigger). Xray is a program used to modify or hex Gravity's client. Some private servers uses them to add custom sprites, palettes, effects, custom job class, etc...

Hexing client using Xray is beyond my expertise and I would like to re-emphasize that you should confirm with your server if you are allowed to do so. If for whatever reason you wish to pursue this further, you could try RUNE Enhancement Source- A guide to Xray client (http://ro-enhance.net/index.php?showtopic=662)

eremes guile and assasin cross eremes
their file name is eremes right??
but if this would be the case then the mvp and eremes guile would have the same look
what i want is for only lhz mvp to be different

am i on the right track??

EDITED: they different by  ?_eremes right?

From what I know, some mobs use already existing sprites, like the first form of Beelzebub actually uses the green chonchon fly.. and some of its mobs use the already existing hunter fly sprites while they're in fact hell flies.

So yes, the bio3 eremes MvP could be using the mob sprite, just trial and error some more.

i just checked the folder where they are located and to my dissapointment i only found one file that is eremes only
any tips so that the mvp itself will change i tried to find their name in RMS it say that
MVP = B_EREMES
mob = EREMES

i dont think that i found b_eremes

Sigh.

Edit the eremes sprite you found, see if it works. Like I said before, some monsters use the same sprite.

where all the ro monster are located in my comp it file name is ¸ó½ºÅÍ
i created C:\Program Files\Dark RO\data\sprite\¸ó½ºÅÍ
but when i pasted the sprite of the pupa there and renamed it to randgris nothing happened

Located at ...data\sprite\¸ó½ºÅÍ. I just changed them to a Pupa sprite.

randgris.spr Valkyrie Randgris [Mob ID# 1751]

seyren.spr Lord Knight Seyren [Mob ID# 1646]

p/s: about the ¸ó½ºÃ...Í, for some strange reason, the "Unicode format" was modified subsequent to my original post. I will need to correct that but I was not sure was I the only one noticing it (i.e. only on my screen). So, I was waiting for someone to say something. Anyways, I will amend them during the week.

edit: Amended.

which server are you from? According to RMS, DarkRO Force has been delisted (http://ratemyserver.net/index.php?page=detailedlistserver&serid=2165&url_sname=DarkRO%20Force). I need a snapshot of your RO directory. You may PM me if you prefer privacy. I suspect you need to edit the data.ini file to tell the computer the order of reading the grf files. [Reminds me... yes i am from dark-ro force
just figured out that the opposite thing happened instead od eremes being the poporing the poporing became the eremes

now i just want to figure out to only change the lhz mvp not the mobs

and am about the mobs
will seyren windsor and lord knight seyren have a different sprite?

scenario: you're hunting mvp's in lhz i suddenly see a big golem which is a lk seyren and not the normal mob

will seyren windsor and lord knight seyren have a different sprite?

scenario: you're hunting mvp's in lhz i suddenly see a big golem which is a lk seyren and not the normal mob

Unfortunately, the sprite seyren.spr is being used by:

Lord Knight Seyren   (G_SEYREN_)   Mob ID# 1799 (not a natural spawn)
Lord Knight Seyren   (G_SEYREN)   Mob ID# 1640
Lord Knight Seyren   (B_SEYREN_)   Mob ID# 1805 (not a natural spawn)
Lord Knight Seyren   (B_SEYREN)   Mob ID# 1646
Seyren / Seyren Windsor   (SEYREN)   Mob ID# 1634
Seyren / Seyren Windsor   (EVENT_SEYREN)   Mob ID# 1895 (not a natural spawn)

So, in the case above, if I were to summon a Seyren / Seyren Windsor   (SEYREN)   Mob ID# 1634; it will look like a Pupa. Similar to the MVP Lord Knight Seyren   (B_SEYREN)   Mob ID# 1646. However, there can only be one MVP in Bio Lab 3 at any one time. If the MVP Lord Knight Seyren   (B_SEYREN)   Mob ID# 1646 has spawned, no other MVP will appear. On top of that, the MVP cannot summon a slave of itself. I.e.; it does not summon a slave which would look like a Lord Knight (or Pupa). So, there will not be any confusion. Having said that, there will be several Seyren / Seyren Windsor   (SEYREN)   Mob ID# 1634 and Lord Knight Seyren   (G_SEYREN)   Mob ID# 1640 scattered around Bio Lab 3 dungeon. They may or may not be near the MVP, but they will look like a Pupa none the less.

All the monster sprites are like ~150 MB. it's better if you extract them all from your sdata.grf

Installing east asian languages is a PAIN in the donkey, I remember searching the web for every file individually >_> took me 3 hours to get it all collected.

Question 2: Relic has uploaded two parts of the East Asian Language Packs. If that don't work, try Poki's advice. Best of luck!

You don't need Model. That's for 3D images only like the Empelium.

1. Don't touch/edit your sdata.grf or data.grf. If something get changed, it's possible it will crash your RO. And you might be forced to download the entire RO Client.

2. Honestly, I think what you are attempting to do is a bit over your head (i.e. too advance/complicated for you). Perhaps when you have mastered the fundamentals of client editing you could revisit it in the future. For now, just chill and play RO the normal way,

Best of luck  /no1

Uh yeah that's me from ZN

About your edit, if you want a foolproof edit. Edit it into the sdata.grf or the .grf that has the highest priority (can be seen in data.ini)
Some servers don't support external data folders.

You might wanna try another 'easier' mob first just to make sure your methods are working.
Try a poring, for example.

He means:

Instead of starting with changing a mvp mob that uses the same sprites as other monsters,

try changing a poring to another monster first.

After you do that, then you can start on trying to change a mvp, and then the mobs of it, and then the bio3 mobs, because you understand better what to do.

Did you select the directory you want to convert to cp1252 by clicking on [...] Button first?

Follow the recommendation above, and then click on To CP1252 again - it takes a few seconds to a few minutes (depending). After completed it will show on the top left the number of files converted.

If all else fails, please submit screenshots. We shall try to work it out from there.

same problem w/ rounicode cp1252 nothing happened  !!

Download and install

ROUnicode

-Using GrfBuilder, Open sdata.grf (C:\Program Files\Ragray\sdata.grf)  works fine!!!

-Extract All the data to a temporary folder. (C:\MyTemporary).  same format like you post w/ Korean characters

- In my Temporary folder /data/sprite/악세사리/남 in Korean characters

-Run ROUnicode and convert data from Korean language to Cp1252.......Here's the problem!!
My directory to convert is C:\My Temporary\data.......  what seems to be the problem sir?? ???

Yeah, but the bubble couldn't be turned off.

There are two versions of Bubble effects at base lvl99. One is controlled by freezing_circle.bmp (http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q405/cuyie/freezing_circle-1.jpg) and the other is controlled by whitelight.tga. What's the difference? freezing_circle.bmp are bubble effects for Non-Transcendent classes like Alchemist, Priest, Super Novice, Ninja, Gunslingers etc... while whitelight.tga is for Rebirth/Transcendent classes like High Priest, High Merchant, Scholar, etc.. Exception to the rule; the bubble effect for Takewon boy/girl, Soul Linker, Star Gladiators and Baby classes are controlled by whitelight.tga.

Just make sure freezing_circle.bmp and whitelight.tga are blank or "hot pink" (Red: 255 Green: 0 Blue: 255). You can download the modified files from here (http://rapidshare.com/files/298038063/nobubble.rar) and place them in the following directory C:\Program Files\Gravity\RO\data\texture\effect.

To remove the Aura just type /aura. It's also worth noting that you can switch off effects by typing /effect. Not only will it remove the effects of Aura and Bubbles but also every other effects in game.

I don't know what I am doing wrong, I tried to change Stalactic_Golems into zombies, so I copied the two stalactic_golem files into the folder shown above and changed the names into zombie. But when I log on and go find the stals, nothing changed, I also went to a zombie but still the zombie is the same meaning I didn't accidentally reverse it.

I don't know what is wrong, could you help me? If you need additional info please feel free to ask, thank you.

Late but still, maybe your server doesn't support data folder and you should add edited files in their grf (luminaro.grf/lumina.grf or something like that) or if your server is renewal, you can add new line (at start) to data.ini (maybe customized to lumi.ini or something like that) contains "0=yourgrf.grf" followed by 1=..., 2=... so it will look like this:

[Data]
0=yourgrf.grf
1=lumina.grf
.....
x=data.grf

-I put the spr and act in the right folder, inside the data\sprite\¸ó½ºÅÍ
-I put the spr and act in the right folder in every .grf.

I did this before and it worked, but on this server it doesn't. What could there be?

Hello, I'm a French player so forgive me if my English is bad !
Is it possible to change my character size to the little size? Or maybe it would change the size of every character who has the same class as me (I want to change the size of my Star Gladiator/Taekwon Master)?
If it isn't possible, maybe I could change the image of my character to a little monster?
If one of the idea is possible or if you have one which goes on the same way, could you tell me how to do please? It would be the best thing if I (only me) could be invisible (just for me).
I hope you will answer me,

There is no effect in grf to be able to see invisible players. But you can edit effect of Stalker's footprints to see him better. Or you can edit "hiding" effect to do some sign on ground when someone hides.

Footprints : \texture\effect\foot_l2.tga + \texture\effect\foot_r2.tga
Hiding : \sprite\ŔĚĆŃĆ®\smoke.act + \sprite\ŔĚĆŃĆ®\smoke.spr

i tried to change porings into acidus but i don crash when i'm beside acidus[porings]
anyone can explain why?
i used detale as dark lord and picky as dark illusion spawned by dark lord..

Posted on: Mar 25, 2011, 05:40 pm
well i've figured it out now.. it's because picky has 5 files to choose from... instead for 2 for most monsters...
which 1 should i copy?

picky_¾Ë²®Áú.act
picky.act
picky.spr
picky_.act
picky_.spr

i tried picky.act & picky.spr and i crashed.. so it should not be this two...

well i've figured that out myself again too... after some time.. hahahah

As mentioned before those bio monsters are built with combining a few sprites rather than using one sprite.  The client might have implemented them as exception cases so altering those sprite might fail the construction and crash.

Changing sprite of emperium is much more difficult than the others. Emperium is not spr+act but its some kind of 3D model (gr2) so editing this will require more experience.
Its located in

\data\model\3dmob\

Open (s)data.grf in grf editor and that folder should be there. But as I said, ist 3D model so model edit wont change anything, because of some s*** which I am not able to explain in english.  It changes only view of it but "clicking" place remain the same small even if you change it into something bigger.

3D mobs in ragnarok (emperium and sword/bow guardians) are defined little bit differently. If you want to attack sword guardian you must put mouse on its feet, because there is place where it is defined. Its small square at the bottom of the model regardless of its size. So if you change emperium into sword guardian (copy original sword and rename it to emperium's name) emperium would look like sword guardian but if there were many people on emperium, you will never be able to attack it by klicking on head of the guardian. You can make new 3D models by using some 3D editing software (I dont know a lot - maybe 3DMax would work).

You have to download GRF editor (from RMS main page, download section) and then open (s)data.grf in Ragnarok base folder.

What do you mean? Which grf you shoul edit or?
There is most of effects located inside data.grf. Renewal effects are in rdata.grf and private server "options" are in privateserver.grf. So you extract basic grf from (r)data.grf, edit it and put it back into privateserver.grf

I'm not the only one that can help you with this, you don't need to ask just for me to help since pretty much many others can help you with it too but I will try to help anyway xD

You can't edit the mvp sprite of bio 3 monsters that easy as said in here - http://forum.ratemyserver.net/guides/creative-editing-most-valuable-player-%28mvp%29/msg75251/#msg75251 (http://forum.ratemyserver.net/guides/creative-editing-most-valuable-player-%28mvp%29/msg75251/#msg75251) and http://forum.ratemyserver.net/guides/creative-editing-most-valuable-player-%28mvp%29/msg74714/#msg74714 (http://forum.ratemyserver.net/guides/creative-editing-most-valuable-player-%28mvp%29/msg74714/#msg74714)

If you still want to modify them just search for the files on the grf at data/sprite/몬스터:
- SinX: eremes.spr
- LK: seyren.spr
- HP: magaleta.spr
- HW: katrinn.spr
- Sniper: shecil.spr
- WS: harword.spr
and change them to something else I think[adding files with the same name on a new grf with the same folder names and etc works too and better since if there is some error it's easier to fix and prevent errors].

If the edits annoy you a bit, here are some tricks to help to know which is which of the mvps:
- HP: Heals for 9999 always[careful to not mix this with 99 HP since both can use it]
- HW: Fire Pillar all over the place[careful to not mix this with 99 HW since both can use it]
- Sniper: Shockwave traps all over the place
- WS: Full Strips if tanked[not something to rely since it's just a 15% chance but helps I guess lol]
Others are too vague to have something that makes them be different from the normal mobs.

Unicode or korean as being showed in here (http://forum.ratemyserver.net/guides/creative-editing-most-valuable-player-%28mvp%29/msg63379/#msg63379)??

My guess is that you've instead something like . This last one is korean but you've missing the asian language pack on your OS so the OS doesn't recognize it. To fix it just read the instructions in here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Multilingual_support_%28East_Asian%29#Korean).

this is weird, i followed this guide on 1 server, its not working, monster's sprites doesnt change.

is there anything blocking?
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Post by: Triper on Jul 11, 2013, 10:28 AM
Did you prioritize your custom grf before the others? You've to do that at the data.ini.

There is also some tools that servers add for security to their servers, such as Magnum and Harmony, that block the usage of custom grfs because of stuff like nodelay.grf.
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Post by: scrollLock on Jul 11, 2013, 09:57 PM
^
what do you mean prioritize?

bec. on the 1st server i tested this, it works, i didnt change anything in Data.ini file

but now on this 2nd server, sprites doesnt change.
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Post by: Triper on Jul 12, 2013, 07:22 AM
So you're editing the main grf of ro for this? Usually people just add the new stuff to a fresh grf and prioritize it before the others at data.ini so the new files override the old ones when running because of the loading order.
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Post by: scrollLock on Jul 12, 2013, 08:14 AM
i will explain how im doing this..

-- i just copy and paste the .act and .spr file into this folder   \data\sprite\¸ó½ºÅ͍  , and change the name of the monster.

thats it, this method works on some RO and doesnt work on some.

so this method is not correct?

Title: Re: Creative Editing: Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Post by: Triper on Jul 12, 2013, 10:01 AM
Then you're changing the main grf of the game. If that isn't working at some servers, it's because some servers have third party tools that block edits at it.

just want to ask where can find now the script that read the mvp sprite it self?
Title: Re: Creative Editing: Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Post by: Tsudere on Apr 25, 2014, 11:36 AM
The sprite thing is just a request of a part from a files in your grfs.
it always search every grf  till the sprites is found. This is reason why there are some micro lags if you enter new areas.
The client don't care how many gtb sprites you have. What really counts is which file including this file have the highest priority. Usally it's the data folder.

So if you add a file in your grf with a higher priority as the common files, yours will be loaded at first and the standart will be ignored.

I hope this helps.

Post by: paperOne on Apr 26, 2014, 02:45 PM
ahhh kind the make sense but what i really want to know is the exact location of the file containing the script which control the reading of the grf. like what you said "Usally it's the data folder" but where? :( there where so many file in that folder. :(

My folder name is correct, i got the .act and .spr files and pasted them on correct folder.  Nothing happens.

Back then it was working. Im trying this on private server.

There are and always will exist ways to prevent grf edits so either you're suffering from that or you messed up something.

Example: Some clients, specially the more recent ones, use lua files for everything aside graphics which are loaded from a grf, others don't care about *.ini files and some have those *ini files edited to be something else.
