Alright, me and my friend are going to start on valk (1/1/1)

Any suggestions on what our starting characters should be? I'm looking for a PVM duo that can level effectively together, AND solo effectively when one of us is not online.

Please don't suggest Priests; we're probably going to multi-client one anyway. For some reason we're sick of playing Knights too.

XileRo is the only HR I know that has a reasonable PvP system. I did watch the RWC like you said, all I see is people spamming the room like every other gang fight there is in RO.

Though you said no priests, ima still suggest it >:3

Priest+wizard is what I always go when starting a server with someone.

Both can solo well(mage at increase soils, priest at payon or something, priest at anubis, never leveled a higher lvl wiz solo) and for leveling together you can own at places like high orcs

Abbey parties at higher levels to >:3

A note about valk : it's going to be down for a while so you guys can have more time to plan out things.  The duo is really.. vague, you just want it for PvM partying purposes as a solo group?  You do know theres an abundance of parties on valk expecially because of the kill-monsters-150-times-for-mass-exp quests.

As starting classes, I would say maybe a thief / mage, archer / mage, archer / thief, acolyte (monk) / archer or tk/tk combo would be good.  Just hunting around low level areas to get basic cards / gears to sell is a good starting point, and the characters will be good at higher levels, especially in parties in places such as bio, abbey, rachel and whatever parties happen in valk outside of thors volcano.   Thanks to the rideword hat on valk too, it is a great investment for thor leeching (currently hopping 20m ~ 55m) so TKs would be a valuble future investment for money making and for getting a guild / a high set of characters.

The way you should play out is spend the lower levels at the repeatable quests for the lower levels seen here.  Until you guys are able to do things like mukas, hodes, frilldoras etc safely.  Eventually you could move to payon 2 or stay at hodes and frilldoras, they are great experience up until 60, where you could probably find a party at alligators for the quest aswell.

I would type more but need to head out, editing later~~~

Priests have so many more uses than Assumptio. Ever try healing? xD

+1 Omi

if you're multi clienting with a priest/aco anyway, then the best imho is a thief/sin and mage/wiz duet.

otherwise it's aco/priest + thief/sin...

1/1/1 is low, i know how hard it is levelling at such rates. But to be honest, you're multi-clienting anyway, why not bot altogether and just play it at a higher level?

anyhoo, quests to me tend to be too low exp per time spent unless you've racked up all the items and spam the repeatable quests... so yeah again +1 Omi on that point...

agibless, warps, asp and heals are very good, but the main advantage of multi-ing a (high)priest will always be assump.

@maha: i'm looking at experiencing more of pvm content, which i have seldom done in the past.

and valk has disable the item turn-ins for the exp quests, you now have to get in a party and kill the same number of monsters to get the respective exp rewards.

Right, to continue!

Multiclienting a priest will be more of a burden than anything, especially considering the amount of time it will take you to get a priest to a decent level, and then you have the fact that there are hundreds of priests about, especially in higher level areas and in guilds, always looking for parties.  If anything, just multiclienting acolytes for warps to fields / cities is the best thing you could probably do.  And with buff scrolls hanging around / reduced prices with battle manuals and bubble gum, lower levels tend to go a lot faster than they used too.

When it comes to the repeatables, do note that battle manuals / HE Battle Manuals / Thick Battle Manuals also affect the EXP turn in, so if you do feel up to paying for a battle manual ($0.49 per) then it will also speed up the rate you turn in.   Along with turn in quests, aslong as you're in a party with someone and on screen when the monster dies, you get the kill added to your count, so you could find a higher level (not looking at me!) to kill hodes etc for you and it's even faster leveling.   Hodes / Frills / Goats with a decent level player / mobbing party and you'll probably hit second job within your first day if they really try hard.  Another note with frilldora quest is that on iRO valk they are hostile, so you will have to be careful.

You shouldn't level at spots without a repeatable quest unless you know you will be able to kill them effectively, so things like mi gaos / geographers are a complete waste of time if you're going with a mage / archer combo.   The turn ins will give a lot more over time and they dont share exp so they will give more per monster than a single geographer / mi gao.   An exception to this is if you are lucky during a box event and get level 10 mercenaries, then going to a high level area (clocks, anubis w/e) will powerlevel you imeediately, and turn ins will be a waste of time, especially since mercenary kills don't count towards them.

again, will post more later~~~

If you're going to multiclient for buffs then I don't see why you don't just seclude yourself to Moscovia. The respawn is absolutely insane, their EXP is better than Gaos and Geos, they fall quicker, they drop good healing items that weigh next to nothing, are okay money, and the only Aggre thing in the entire 1st floor are Mantis. Les team up though, so be careful of that. Once you're strong enough to one hit Wood Goblins then focus on those.

fluidin

yeah i know abt mosc..

i just need more omi-type tips.

Wiz/Bard? :p No delay level 10 bolts with no cast. What more could you want from a PVM duo? Or you can do two Taekwons and branch them off to TKM and SL. Because everyone knows TKM can kill IFrit in 6 seconds. ;x

Seriously though I think the most fun I ever had with PVM was with my friend, we both made Linkers, linked eachother one played support until the monster got close to her, and then I would start Esma, and she would high jump and start supporting me. It was pretty fun. Top that up with the SL buffs and you have a fun time on your hands.

Omi

Quoteseclude yourself to Moscovia. The respawn is absolutely insane, their EXP is better than Gaos and Geos

1) Quest requirement, with a base level requirement also (65 iirc).
2) Worse exp than geos and gaos, 1.3k or so compared to 2k
3) afkmists gooooooooo

QuoteNo delay level 10 bolts with no cast.

Ew no, sg at majorous = yes.

QuoteBecause everyone knows TKM can kill IFrit in 6 seconds. ;x

What outdated s*** are you looking at.

QuoteOnce you're strong enough to one hit Wood Goblins then focus on those.

If anything, if you could one shot them you should be mobbing the f*** out of level 2 - 3.

I'm just going to say but if you don't play iRO, don't give advice.
